Or, for a man that claims to be interested in ancient cultures, and is somehow considered an 'authority' by the History Channel, does not know what Sanskrit is.

What. The. Fuck.
LOL- Makes you question every "Authority" presented on the History Channel regarding any and every subject.

I know. When the hell did this happen though? I recall the History channel being a 24/7 War channel for many years and now its all woo.

I remember when it was referred to as the "Hitler" channel because that was all they aired. Then Nancy Dubac showed up. She loves her some hillbillies.

• More and more people will unite in prayer and meditation to change the world.

aaargh it seems like every psychic I've ever heard anywhere over the last twenty years has said some form of this, that there's some kind of great awakening on the horizon, that we will have a rise in global consciousness, etc.  It seems to me, if anything, with all our global squabbling and self-obsessions that we're more likely to go the direction of psychic feudalism, with each of us barricaded in our little facebook-page-defined manors, surrounded by our little twitter-feed moats.   :(

They had to worry about that with Art?

Art?  I thought this was about George Noory and his suckage.

Art was interested in the subject.  Art chose to do an overnight show.

Noory and probably anyone else that PremRat would hire aren't interested in the paranormal.  My point was they would be jockeying for the next step on their 'career' path and quit the show as soon as that came along.  I'm pretty sure George would jump at the chance to do something with a higher profile too, like drive time radio or TV.

That's what I meant when I said that is a likely factor in why they keep George.  Like I said, he isn't going anywhere.  He's not ever getting another syndicated show.

Yeah I think George wants a TV show for some reason, I think he is even trying to get "experience" with Beyond Belief. I dont think anyone will hire him for a full time tv show mostly because he has shown how inept his in Beyond Belief. I think it back fired. His "show" had a bad infomercial feeling.

My point, of course, is that he's posting a profit. It doesn't matter what that profit is, or who is making what. The assertion was made that he wouldn't pass a job review. Well, if he's bringing in the money, then he's going to pass.

Not to agree too much with the dolphin, as too much of that around here might get my tiny squirrel hide skinned ... but I think part of why Noory's holding onto his job is because he thinks in exactly the same cold terms as management, i.e. that as long as they have the numbers, they're on the right track.

Some entertainers think "If I build it, they will come" and the greatness will beget success (Art), while others think "If I just do A,B, and C as my formula then I'll have enough of an audience to support me" (George).  The former is more risky, but can lead to both great cultural and (sometimes) financial success, whereas the latter is safer and can result a fairly profitable if lackluster mediocrity.

They keep him because he is CHEAP compared to anyone else who would occupy that chair. They pay him far less than they would have to pay someone like Art, but to Noory, his pay is quite substantial. Make sense? SAG-AFTRA base rate is like $350 per show. 5 shows per week, 52 weeks per year puts him at $91,000. That's the bare minimum they could be paying him, and I'm sure they're paying him more, but not THAT much more. Let's say they pay him 5x that. Still way, way less than someone like Levin, Hannity, or any of the rother nationally-syndicated guys who are on a comparable number of affiliates.

The only reason he's on as many affiliates as he's on is because they're ClearChannel-owned stations. And the stations that aren't package Rush with Coast. This has been explained to you countless times.
And they probably pay him expenses to fly around and let him make his own deals...he mentions the show and gets it out there in other places...conferences,  his fantastic singing and dancing gigs at the st louie airport ramada inn, his bs internet show...like that.
Batesy ur in the biz....what do you think he brings in for all those appearances he makes...probably sells merch...he must get a cut on that too...his name is all over it.

No I didn't, I said:

My implication was that noory has poor performance in many areas. And if you have an honest bone in your body you will acknowledge that if he interviewed and provided recordings of his work he wouldn't get hired. You are making the jump that he is in effect a salesman.

You made the jump, I didn't move the post. I guess if you are in rapid fire posting it would be easy to make the assumption you did.

It is still simple, how many asteroids have brains?

Man you're disingenuous. He got hired. It isn't wouldn't, it's DID. Happened, done, years ago. After a group of hosts that cut it far less than he has, they hired him after hearing him as the Nighthawk. What you claim he can't do, he clearly did.

As far as performance, I don't think so. Plenty of well-known authors out there that have phoned in a shitty book for a quick buck. Same with musicians, plenty of people out there that haven't had a hit in decades still selling albums on the name that have a whole lot more flaws than five. Hell, in music flaws are good, all the better if you're addicted to heroin. Lots of crap sequels for movies, and so on. None of them would pass the five flaw test. What they do pass is the money test, and if you're in any industry where you have to post a profit, if you post a good one, you will retain your job. In the end, it is the only factor, and the more you post the more flaws you can get away with.

No, not a charitable effort, but rather his profit level can be much less, and he's still valuable to the company.  I hear Carnivora and C. Crane advertised on other night time shows, such as Michael Savage.  As for affiliates, I'm sure there are lots of stations that would like to have the show.  Other than Red Eye, there's not much else on live.  Coast would naturally pick the station that would give them the most potential listeners.  Overnight has relatively few listeners, just because it is overnight.
Y
Regarding cost - let's speculate.  We once had a figure of $400,000 for George under his old contract.  Suppose a raise to $600,000 in the new.  Even living in LA, I doubt Tommy makes $80,000, but let's give him that.  About the same for Lisa Lyon.  I can't think of anyone else who would be working exclusively for Coast - the rest seem to be general Cheap Channel employees.  So, let's allocate $100,000 for the lot of them covering their time working for Coast.  Add satellite time, electricity, sales commissions, etc.  That means they're producing a national radio show for around a million dollars.  That's not a lot of advertising.
Fox red eye on tv? They pre tape that earlier in the day.

Rhettman Mullis on bigfoot.  He's putting together a team to "catch, tag, and release" them so that they can be better studied.  Amazing. Truly amazing. It's weird how rising sea levels, and polar bears drifting around on ice sheets, and global super storms mean nothing to me; but listening to Linda Moulton Howe describe the effects of global warming on monarch butterflies and all of a sudden this climate change denier starts to genuinely feel bad about the whole thing.  She also talked about those loud booms that people are hearing around the world.  George wondered if the sounds were caused by "illuminati types that might be building bunkers...Have you ruled that out?" George uses the "you can't rule it out" theorem to legitimize most of the half-baked schemes he pretends to patronize, but LMH wasn't in the mood for it.  She just laughed.

sadness

Once again Linda omits important details. I have been to both of the Monarch reserves in the highlands of Mexico - once on horseback and twice hiking in. It's a killer hike, but it's worth it. It's an incredible site to see every tree covered by Monarchs and to feel like you are standing in a butterfly whirlwind. I'm so thankful I got to see it before it's gone. GMO crops in the United States is the main reason for the Monarch decline, but another thing was not mentioned. The locals told me that it has been much, much colder up there in the last 15 years. Before that, snow was rare. In the last 15 years FREAK snow storms have killed massive numbers of Monarchs. The horse logging has nothing to do with the butterflies dying in the snow. Horse logging is scattered and fazing out. Most of these folks are so poor they can't own a horse. This is one of the most poverty stricken (only in money, they're rich in other ways) places I've ever been to, and I've seen a lot of poverty all over the world.

Rhettman Mullis is one of the few regulars that I enjoy. Surprise, surprise! He's a real person, not a "professional C2C guest". I guess I like him because he's no selling anything. If Dave really got him on the show because of an e-mail - and I question this, because Dave lies a lot - no doubt he had to get permission from his handlers first, to chose a guest on his own.

Hilly Rose may be old but he is the closest radio host to be an expert on the paranormal than anyone else. Much more so than Art not to mention Noory, Wells, Lewis, or even Knapp. Hilly genuinely knows the paranormal, is interested in it, and has studied it far beyond just preparing for a radio show and it shows.

So fish boy I keep asking...why won't you tell us what books you've authored?  Not proud of them?

Would you divulge that information here (or on any other forum)?

Often opinions we have (and share) might not exactly correspond to our public personas whether we are 'public' people or not. An author wants his readers to connect with his work not his opinions on political matters (unless that is part of his work) or Art bell vs George Noory. Alienating fans is not a good idea. Plus with a forum (and the back and forth) 'enemies' could potentially damage your professional reputation for perceived slights on a forum and face no consequence.

I believe him and also THINK I know who it may be based on writing style (although I could be mistaken)- He certainly writes well.

...But I completely understand why someone with any degree of a public persona would be very careful with divulging who they are and IF they do there would generally be a PR reason for doing such.

There's a lot of truth in your post, though. I would have loved to have heard the episode in which George says that $150 is a reasonable amount to pay for a tarot card reading.

But if you want to see a good Shirley MacLaine movie, seriously, see The Apartment

Jorch shows up, goes through the motions, checks the blocks off, hoovers the suits during the day and keeps them happy, along with the number boys.  He's apparently enough to keep the Kardashian crowd tuning in and buying Carnivora.  C2C is just like most of the hundreds of channels available on TV.  Jorch "get's it."

I'm a third shift guy.  Even when I'm not working a third shift job, I'm keeping third shift hours.  When I'm driving at night, I'll tune into 550 am here in Cincinnati to see what Jorch has to say.  Nine times out of ten I turn it right back off because the first things I hear are:

"Preshident Reagan hat it delibered to the White Housch."
