Don't seem like a trust able source but interesting if true..

A high ranking Cruz campaign official has told Elect Leaders that Sen. Cruz is in negotiations with Mr. Trump to become his Vice Presidential Nominee after Rubio dropped out Tuesday. Sen. Cruz has been the most consistent performer in primaries behind Trump. They are seeing the writing on the wall and want to negotiate from a point of strength which will evaporate.

www.electleaders.com/2016/02/breaking-cruz-negotiating-with-trump-for-vp-spot/

i think cruz would help bring a portion of the GOP together, but definitely not all of it and i think he would bring little to the table in a general election.  i hear a lot of people say cruz would make a good supreme court justice, and i'd probably agree with that for the most part.  at least he wouldn't wind up being a surprise, as happens almost every time the republicans place someone on the court.

I don't know what the answer is but illegals aren't an issue to me outside of the crime.

yeah, but go tell that to a guy who used to get paid $20 per hour for landscaping work and now only gets $9 per hour for the same work.  plenty of examples of this going on out there.

The most disturbing aspect of Trump's imaginary wall, is the fact that he's so easily manipulated his followers.  Appealing to their primitive brains with classic fear-mongering and demagoguery, he's painted himself as their savior from the Others who are, of course, the cause of all their misery.

i don't feel manipulated.  trump is raising the issues i've been troubled by for 12 years, and i'm glad he's doing it since nobody else in the republican party was going to.

and i'm not afraid.  no fear here.  perhaps you're projecting.

further, if persuasion is your intent, you're getting nowhere with anyone by suggesting those who disagree with your worldview have "primitive" brains.  your individually chosen sensibilities and opinions are not necessarily the benchmark for decent human behavior, decorum and intellect, just so you know.  they're your opinions.  you won't catch me calling you names for holding them or pretending i'm of a higher evolutionary order (as if that would add weight to my comments).

i support trump, but i'm no "follower" of anyone.  i just happen to agree with his stance on a number of important issues, and i think he's the only candidate who could affect any substantial change.  i think he's the first mainstream candidate in my lifetime who doesn't owe anything to forces acting against american interests, and that's powerful.  perhaps you miss this in evaluating trump's support, casting it aside to focus instead on what feels to you like "fear mongering and demagoguery."

if hillary's machine is as dismissive/self assured as you are, it's going to be an easy trump win in november... assuming she's not indicted.

8 years of obstructionism and fuck-ups by a divisive senate elected to act in our best interests can't simply be credited to one man, regardless of party affiliation.  If I showed up at work and refused to do my job I'd be shown to the door.  We should hold all our elected officials to the same basic standards.

what, of obama's objectives, has he failed to secure?  as an opposition party, the republicans seem to have been quite soft for obama's two terms.  they'll probably even cave on the SCOTUS nomination.  they've funded everything he's asked for.  i'd say the lack of republican obstruction is partially to blame for the current meltdown of the GOP.

however, even if the republicans had truly obstructed obama, it wouldn't be a point of critique, in my opinion.  in this country, the executive is supposed to face an opposition party, and elections have consequences.  we don't have emperors/kings.

Well for one I won't be a landscaper. I don't feel for laborers that do jobs that require little skill and I look at those jobs as providing a "living" wage.

Ding, ding, ding!!!  They cave on that, the GOP is finished.  Hopefully they realize that.  This is a turning point year for the GOP.  Either, they are with their base or they are not.  If not, many Republicans including myself will leave the GOP and register as independents.

I've heard this same thing today...the RNC is toast...

At this point, the only scenario I can imagine by which the Republican Party is not reduced to ashes at a national level and then forced to rebuild is one in which the Trump campaign falls apart in the remaining primaries -- not likely at all.

Trump getting the nomination (making him the party's new leader) or failing to get it (causing a civil war and a bloodbath) at a brokered convention destroys the national party as it is now. The current Republican Party loses whether they win or lose in November.

Democratic leaders and partisans are celebrating this Republican disaster-in-the-making, and only a very farsighted Republican could see the long-term advantage in the party being forced to remake itself. But the remake could be a good thing, as long as Trump is not the architect. Democrats could also do with a remake. Fortunately, both parties aren't melting down at the same time.

Goodness, you've been troubled for all of 12 years? And that has made you cynical enough, pessimistic enough and desperate enough to elect a character like Trump as leader of the free world?

Maybe older people or dumber people could make some kind of excuse for supporting Trump, but I don't see where 12 years of disillusionment with the status quo gives an intelligent guy like you any kind of an excuse. I'd hate to see who you would vote for in another 12 years, especially if Hillary gets in.

I didn't imply every Trump voter was frightened.  Demagoguery triggers our hopes and desires.  Donald's covering all his bases.

Take Trump campaign worker Grace, a first time voter who fervently believes Trump's promised wall will help her and her husband get the jobs they feel have eluded them because of the "immigrants."  Does Grace even consider that her highly visible tattoos symbolizing white power might be the culprit hindering her job prospects?  Who will save them from their misery when Trump's wall doesn't materialize?  Trump is playing these folks like a fiddle.

Like you MV, I also "agree with [Trump] on a number of important issues", and I'm actually pleased that he has shaken up the status quo, but it doesn't justify my voting for someone I feel is woefully ill-prepared to lead our country.

Unlike many here at BellGab, I can't be baited into a back and forth by defending another candidate, as I don't care for any of them.  In years past I've voted Democrat, Republican, Independent, Green, and once, even Mickey Mouse as a write-in.  (Sadly, he didn't win.)

Yes, sir.  The best role the RINOs can claim is as a foil for the Dems, if not out-and-out co-conspirators.

So the Angelli and Rothchild families are against Trump. Another reason he might be the right choice. The Economist, and their owners, never saw a banker bailout, immigrant movement, or globalist scheme that they didn't support. The only interesting thing about your post that some billionaires are against another billionaire, but that is nothing new- Soros is another billionaire against Trump. So just add the Rothchild and Angellis in that camp. Not a big deal or a surprise.

Yea, more fear mongering...remember that all this came about after Trump mentioned "tariffs" on foreign goods...all these billionaires see huge losses in their investments in factories in Asia...they will do and say anything to protect their wealth and power...

I am not an economist. I didn't stay at some fancy shmancy hotel last night either. But, if I understand correctly, soon, oil will no longer have to be purchased with US dollars. When that happens a ton of already purchased dollars being held in other countries will be coming back to us. That will weaken the dollar outside of the US and quite possibly severely escalate inflation. Or it could be a huge incentive to reinvest in the US, both manufacturing and infrastructure. If that were to happen, and Trump were to be the president. He would likely be the most popular president since FDR.

That might be the case for whomever is in the chair.

What do you have against free trade? What`s wrong with having goods and services that are affordable to even the most economically challenged in society? Free trade has dramatically improved the quality of life for untold millions of people.

I have news for you; those high paying, manufacturing union jobs are NEVER coming back. Ever. And there`s not a damn thing Drumpf -- or anyone else -- can do about it. They`re gone. Get over it. The good news is, we adapt and develop new industries or rework older ones to be more efficient and profitable.

Any mention that he genuinely doesn't give a shit about anyone but himself? He's underplaying the beautiful slant though because there's no talk of fluffy clouds, lush green meadows where the unicorns play, crystal clear babbling streams full of beautifully coloured fish, or everyone having a permanent smile on their face. Or that O shaped pout he does so well; when he doesn't look as if he's pushing a particularly difficult turd out.

Trump has done one thing that really does not get the attention it should. Hate Trump or love him, he has worked the media to his favor. A year ago, people would have laughed at the thought of him being the candidate to beat. Today, there is a question as to whether the democrats can beat him in the general election. We can dismiss all the people that follow him as some sort of lesser than, but I think that only works to Trump's favor. He might just be the most disingenuous person to ever talk in public, or he may just be swimming with the other sharks. I believe he is saying what people want to hear. Others can say exactly the same thing about me and Sanders.

I don't care for him. I felt similar with Reagan, I only have so much bile and I am tired of carrying it.

So yeah, chances are Trump will not win, or he will win and be very ineffective, or maybe a bully who doesn't mind getting bloody is what the country needs internally. Maybe, if we can somehow get this desire for a barroom brawl over with, we as US citizens may become more cohesive. Yeah, probably not.
