I agree with you there. The little I have listened to Trump, I haven't seen a difference.

It's part of each politician's strategy...promises (carrot) and fear (stick)...each side uses this basic strategy...

Remember, when you could "just go" to Canada for the weekend?

I remember.  Yankees getting smashed on real beer, carousing with our French Canadian women folk, getting busted up by the bouncers at the strip clubs on St. Catherine's street, then trying to avail themselves of our free health care.  Now I hear you gun-toting sociopaths all plan on moving here if Trump wins the Whitehouse.

We're gonna need a bigger wall.

(You, however, are welcome in the spare room, Onan. One question - can you skate?)

Does anyone know what The Donald's views are regarding Foreign Aid?  I'm sure we spend billions on it, and give it to countries that have less than favorable views of us.  It's always been my opinion that as long as we need bridges, roads, and schools, not one penny should go to another country.  I'd like to know how Trump would handle it if he were President.  I have yet to see the question brought up during any of the debates.

USA can't stop foreign aid. You have to stop foreign aid to all countries and that would include Israel. You'll never get away with even saying out loud in public that we should stop giving foreign aid to Israel. You can't give foreign aid to just Israel and cut everyone else off. We will never stop spending billions of dollars a year in foreign aid because of Israel.

Israel is truly our greatest ally.

I can, especially on the ice.

Your posts make so much more sense to me now.

Eh, I'm getting kind of used to this tactic.  What's another 8 years?

8 years of obstructionism and fuck-ups by a divisive senate elected to act in our best interests can't simply be credited to one man, regardless of party affiliation.  If I showed up at work and refused to do my job I'd be shown to the door.  We should hold all our elected officials to the same basic standards.

Yeah, as an Anglo Quebecer I have seen - up close and personal - the ugly side of identity politics and nationalism.

I wish the Senate had fucked-up even more than it did and not done anything with 'O.  O's idea of compromise is to do whatever he wants.  Otherwise, you're an obstructionist.

That's true. Though that is the real debate. The "wall" is just a symbol; the real fight is that many feel that there should be no borders and I would just like politician, or even the usual suspect Bellgabbers, to just admit and say it: borders are bad and so are nations. What I do find interesting is that it is only Western countries to are criticized for wanting to have a country or nation. Do you even have a country if there is no border? Where are the demands for Japan, China, African countries, Mexico, etc etc to take all the Muslim "refugees" or illegals from other countries? Or to change their laws, signage, or culture to "accommodate" others? Or take down their border controls (or even sometimes their even internal migration controls?) Why don't Muslim countries (Turkey is to an extent) taking all these "refugees?"

Who are these people, the ones that think borders and nations are bad and, I imagine, that there should be no limits on immigration? At worst, this is a very small and very extremist percentage of the population who believe that humanity should have matured beyond the need for nations and borders at this point in its evolution. I haven't seen anyone like this on BellGab.

The real problem is not that people don't believe in borders but that they have worries over how to control immigration effectively without offending anyone, abusing anyone or screwing things up worse than they are. Of course, first on the list of angry and offended people will be businesses who hire illegals. Next will be left-wing activist groups and their supporters. Most people would like to see the problem solved in a reasonably fair way.

That's been the Democrat party for the past 35 years at least. Sure, they'll compromise, as long as the Republicans cave on everything they hold dear. Dems never have to do that....

I see some of that. But I also see some pretty smart people following Trump. I don't get it. I do understand that at the same time many don't get me. so I guess it balances out. Trump scares me.

The smarter ones think that Trump will do the dirty work that needs to be done but will not get out of control because of all the checks and balances in the system. They're taking a calculated risk.

I think that their calculations are off and the risk is much bigger than they imagine. In the end, they are not so smart.

I'll admit the Dems are better than the RINOs at playing the game.  Unless, as one famous pundit says, the RINOs are nothing more than the political equivalent of The Generals.  The D.C. Cabal has become quite the syndicate, in protecting it's turf.

Is that Ernst Blofeld or some other evil megalomaniac? (And is he on BellGab?) Because that's the other bunch which doesn't believe in nations and borders. You know, one world, one ruler.

I took no offense at all.

I am genuinely concerned for my American friends and neighbours.  Everyone here thought the Trump phenomenon was good for a laugh - at first.  Americans are way too smart to vote for a bombastic reality TV show clown, we thought.  We have all traveled there, some like myself have even lived in the US for a spell, and even though we may poke fun (and then immediately say "sorry") we always believed that you were fundamentally a goodhearted, well meaning, caring people.

That so, so many of you are now choosing - BY FREE WILL - to adopt the politics of exclusion, the banning of an entire religion, the building of a wall on your border, the torture of prisoners, tearing up trade agreements... it is shocking that you are choosing to adopt the ideas, and even become the very people, that our collective fathers and grandfathers fought to defeat in two world wars.  It will be a sad day in history if the nation that once held the rest of the globe to a higher standard of human dignity and decency abandoned it's core values in the name of hateful demagoguery.

Yes, it's a scary phenomenon, especially the sheer numbers of Trump supporters. However, the battle is far from over and many Americans all across the political spectrum recognize the dangers. If there's a silver lining to this cloud, it's the breadth of opposition to Trump.

In America we are wholly embarrassed that you guys voted for this idiot.

He literally is embarrassing Canada and it's citizens on the world stage.

Right, recognize the danger.  Keep in place politics as usual where only politicians and the 1% benefit.  Keep in place politicians dedicated to war and sending American armed forces to fight for Israel.

Elect a woman President just because she is a woman!  Dude it's the CURRENT YEAR!!!  Elect her into office where she believes a simple scolding will fix Wall St.  "I told them to cut it out!"

Elect her into office who voted for every war.  Voted the Patriot Act, voted to uphold the Patriot Act.

Elect her into office whose campaign was mostly paid for by big banks and Wall St. and expect her to make any changes to either institution.

Good.  Good Goyim.  Trump is bad.  Good Goyim.

You're too afraid of the world outside your borders to have a meaningful opinion, tiny.

You're right, the breadth and diversity of the opposition is indeed hopeful and awe inspiring. The monochromatic nature of his support is what is truly scary.

Your country is literally allowing radicalized Muslim adult males to bring their child brides, sometimes as young as 10 years old into your country where these muslim adult males rape this child which you pay for through your taxes.

You and your country right now are paying for Muslim pedophiles to move to your country with their victims, where after recieving housing and money, continue raping their child victims, all at the expense of the Canadian tax payer.

Should be proud of yourselves and shit leader.
