Land mines lol. Wow. Unbelievable.

Why not huge, shark-filled moats?

No exceptions deportation of illegals by all members of law enforcement and stiff penalties to business owners and corporate heads that use illegal labor would pretty much solve this whole thing.

EXACTLY the policy Cruz has been advocating. Stiff penalties to those that hire illegals is THE ONLY means of controlling illegal immigration. Period!

The other thing that will be very effective is to start rounding up business owners who hire illegals and parade their trials on TV.
Good old fashioned show trials! Fits in well with the Trump mindset.

Sharks, aside from bull sharks and even then rarely, can't live in the fresh (and the often fetid water) in rivers or bays on our border. Alligators or gars can, and do, in some places but often with the drought, and Mexico violating water agreements, means the water on the Rio Grande is often very shallow also and even they only live in certain places. Illegals can often just wade across the open border actually. And many parts of our border has no water at all, making your shark option less viable. Sorry Princess Di but land-mines are very cheap and proven effective in situations in the past. And with modern tech could be made 'smart' even and with monitoring with blimps (or cheap drones) make it so precious animals wouldn't be killed.
ps: though real civil, and criminal, penalties (and withholding of Federal funds, tax-free status, etc where applicable) for any person, church, school, hospital, business, ranchers, farmer, city, municipality, etc harboring, helping, feeding, educating, transporting, or hiring an illegal and a proper, rational immigration and temporary worker-visa system.

I think the USA will go down with our throats slit watching an iPad thinking the dividends from our stock in cheap labor are making us rich.

I think you paint an accurate picture. we just disagree on the villain.

I hear you. So do policy makers and business owners. They don't care. There are so many different interests and motivations, both good and bad, that will stall any endeavor to deport illegal aliens. If you (the group you) want them gone, the strategy to use is to make it more attractive for them to stay where they are.

Yeah, I hear you the real villain is internal and ourselves. In many ways it is more of a collective suicide as we wanted it, voted for it, or were apathetic and lazy.

If I lived in Mexico and could barely earn enough to put a roof over my family`s head and keep the youngin`s fed, I`d be the coming across that border, too. Nobody -- well, no rational person -- can blame the folks from down South for trying to better their lives here. We`ve been putting out the welcome mat for years. We just need a common sense solution. Land mines and giant walls with razor wire ain`t it.

How do I tell you this... no wall is going to be built.

"The wall just got 10 feet higher"

Fuck, yeah!! Trump!!1

Ya know, I have no idea how to translate what Trump says. The number of people he is getting to follow him boggles me. To be honest, his rhetoric from several years ago in some ways fits into my ideology. Yet, I never believed him. People, on this forum that I respect like him. I just shrug, because I don't know what else to do. Shit, I voted for Obama. Then wasted a vote on Stein. So my judgement isn't stellar. I do think Obama was a better choice than McCain, simply because I felt the wars we were in were useless and would cause more problems in the future.

Anyway, back to Trump. I think he is dishonest. But that can be said with just as much validity about every other candidate. We can include Sanders in that as well, and I hate saying that. So, for me, it really comes down to ideology, even though I don't trust them, I am going with the person that at least says what I like. We are so screwed.

It'll never happen.  Even Lincoln understood the political cost of making slave owners criminals.

Albrecht's right, it would have to be alligators or crocodiles. But really, it's 2016, surely we can vaporize offenders with orbital laser platforms. I would also advocate an array of circus cannons with which we can return stray illegals that the death star misses with better efficiency than vans.

So, your point is building the wall, now re-evaluated at 1000 miles is easy?

To add, I think those metaphors work well to explain how much of an item is needed. Numbers are often bewildering to translate to volume.

Have we forgotten the Goddamned Chinese did it thousands of years ago? You know, the wall one can see from space???

Please don't tell me the greatest country on the face of the earth could not do something so simple as a wall....

No, I didn't bring it up because it took several hundred years and hundreds of thousands to millions of slaves (oops, enforced but paid workers).

No one can build the pyramids with today's tech, or so the story goes.

There are other walls as well. Spain I think. One being built in the middle east. All have their stories.

It isn't one specific item that makes a wall impractical. It is several different things. One being there is not an agreement on the use or practicality of a wall.

Israel has shown that a well designed barrier wall is quite effective in dramatically reducing intrusion, even by paramilitary would-be intruders.

I seem to recall also the Russians built a pretty damn good wall around Berlin which was highly effective and practical. I will grant you it was but a small percentage of the wall that needs to be built here, but it can be done.

Just saw that Missouri was called for Trump.

The voters resoundingly rejected Ted Crud.

Maybe Ted Crud's mom slacked off in her praying for him hours on end, that or God rejects Ted Crud.

And walls usually have some gates, which as with Constantinople etc, can be forgotten about or even opened by selfish individuals or group. The real problem is the enemy within and lack of will to defend ones self or nation. Walls are fine for small things but even then not effective against heavy artillery. Mines, I tell you. Mines. And use modern technology.  And severe penalties, civil AND criminal, against anyone, business, church, school, or entity that helps, harbors, employs, teaches, or serves illegals. (Which is why it won't happen.)

No one will be laying mines anywhere at the border, and has trump said what will be done to stop coastal entry and or people coming in thru canada?

Don't seem like a trust able source but interesting if true..

A high ranking Cruz campaign official has told Elect Leaders that Sen. Cruz is in negotiations with Mr. Trump to become his Vice Presidential Nominee after Rubio dropped out Tuesday. Sen. Cruz has been the most consistent performer in primaries behind Trump. They are seeing the writing on the wall and want to negotiate from a point of strength which will evaporate.

We can deal with the 99% first (800,000 per year walking across), and then we will play whack-a-mole.

I live a few cities over from PV and this happens so often that they stopped reporting it, and we over a 100 miles from the border.

Fox News debate cancelled after Trump decides to skip it.

Looks like we need to mine the beaches too. Not real sensitive ones that harm any turtles that might be nesting. Albrecht, help me out here. We need one of your non-lethal, yet lethal land mines with multi-lingual warning systems.

But since Brown loves the illegals and wants to put up his own wall around California in the event Trump wins, I'm not sure I am that concerned about California.

Donald Trump just released his first attack ad against Hillary.  Must see.

Cruz also promises the wall after Donald made an issue out of it. I haven't got a problem with Cruz on his immigration position. I have electability and trust issues with him.
