Welp... I don't think I've heard a single thing other than bestility and four million people on the moon tonight. I'm strutting out.

How about an SF novel written by an author whose first notable work was written after 1980?

There was something after Mars colonies and ray-guns?

No way. Herbert was a scientologist?
Whoa. I think I just suffered a major discontinuity. Confusing Herbert with Hubbard. That's what I get for reading that entire Trump thread today.
Help ! I've been Brain-raped.

Stanley G. Weinbaum was a far better that Asimov. Shame he died so young.

He's fluffing his feathers for the hot chick  :P

We all do that when we have an appreciative audience -- human nature.

Isaac Asimov wrote a non-fiction chronological history of technology.   I think that's one of the only things I've read from him.

Didn't he also write a history of China amongs other things?  How did this guy learn so much about the past while simultaneously envisioning the future?

I've read relatively few, too.  None of Asimov's, I'm embarrassed to say.  I was hoping to learn about him and maybe  hear discussions of some of his books tonight, as people always afford him the highest accolades.
Would be nice to hear more about Asimov's history and books, but omg, we must, must hear more of hoagland's anecdotes.

I'm currently reading An Inquiry To Human Understanding by David Hume, i now hate you all

Is there any photographic evidence of RCH knowing Asimov, Clarke and Roddenberry? Not calling him a liar but his stories about these great Sci-Fi people make out as if he was a guy who slept on their couches.

Yeah...he's smothering any semblance of growth in the conversation.

I'm actually enjoying it.  It's fun, like we're all sitting around the table talking after dinner.

I had a friend who did the exact same thing. He was also an alcoholic.

I have no idea about Asimov or Roddenberry, but Arthur Clarke did indeed know him.

I am too. I even like RCH's, possibly embellished, stories.

Nightfall is a great short story.

Okay -- and I thank yo!    It seems to one that's mentioned (a plus) and a short story is a great way to dip my toe in.
