Why Wait til 3 am?
It's a tribute to his being the Nighthawk. But ultimately any time of the day is good for his dismemberment and putting the remains in dog shit bags and scattering what's left in and around toxic waste sites.

kf5iwe

I will ask you, kind sir, one time to retract your insult/threat to toxic waste dumps. Or else I will be forced to fart all over my chair. I have a lot stored up after watching my tigers fold to Alabama saturday night.

Consider it retracted...neither the waste dumps nor your chair need suffer.

I hate Saban and Alabama. I hate Oregon because of Phil Knight. I hate Notre Dame because I'm supposed to like them.

Michael Savage won his law suit in Court to be a free agent a few weeks ago. I hope he returns to talk radio soon. Local hosts seem to be a thing of the past. this canned stuff from syndication is horrible.

Savage came back on 10/23 on Cumulus, albeit in a worse time slot.

I have been absent for a few days so did anyone on this Board talk about Art Bell's election night behavior on Facebook?
He posted this first:

Then he posted a congratulations to President Obama.
And then  he posted a photo of the Hidenburg with Romney's logo on it crashing. Interesting. Plus he appears to have lost about 120 or so friends ... some people got on the verge of threatening him. I think a few out there think he is the same as the current set of hosts and maybe even the same as Alex Jones.

Just gave me a good old fashioned Art Bell chuckle. Wondering if I missed talk on here about it, as I don't see anything.

Nah, you are a hater. Leave Art alone. He is allowed to exercise his first amendment rights.

He's not exercising his rights.... He's simply manipulating his fans for personal amusement.

Those folks are not true friends.  Romney and Bain Capitol own Clear Channel, who doth have a division of their syndication arm named Premiere, that doth begets a show entitled "Coast to Coast AM."  Coincidence or noth?

I think that's another reason ensuring Art would never return, a significant portion of his "peak" audience(circa 1997-98) would abhor Art's "politics" these days. Remember on those rare occasions when Art hosted from 2007-10? He'd have a subject like climate change and by the end of the second hour you could hear the frustration in Art's voice as he got negative feedback via the fast blast. The show he did on July 30, 2010 I could have sworn would be his last, he sounded dejected, pissed. I'm stunned we got another 4 shows out of him after that.

Personally...I never listened for Art for political takes. He always reminded me of Howard Stern when it came to politics. Opportunistic, trendy, no core convictions other than protecting their piece of the pie. A thimble has more depth. A big fan of war, too. Not the band, either.

I never listened to his politics that much either, but I'm pretty sure he came out and admitted he changed his mind a few times and why which is pretty cool.

MV/Liberace!

art is an idiot politically.

i don't say that because he voted for obama.  i say that because the path from his 1990s views to his proud support of obama today should only be possible for someone who was 18 years old in the 1990s.  he's too old to have changed THIS MUCH in only 15 years.  this kind of evolution is something reserved for young people who haven't yet lived enough to apply life experience to their world view.

whatever.

coaster

Romney changed his views halfway through the debate. Political views are easily changed. Maybe Art's views changed after his immigrant wife's Visa problems. I do remember his political talk and I didn't care for it much.

which is part of the reason he didn't win.  romney didn't believe in anything.  that's not to say obama necessarily does, but FUCK if romney wasn't a shape shifting empty suit.

I've noticed this too. Art used to claim he was a libertarian back in the 90's. Interesting how his political views changed right after his "Coming Global Superstorm" Book came out.

People fall in and out of love, have multiple marriages, change religions, lose religion, find religion (all of these apply to Art, BTW), but can't have evolving political views?

The only thing that is forever is your sporting team allegiance.  Now if he said he stopped cheering for the Packers and was now a Bears fan, that would be a big deal.

claiming to be a libertarian and then supporting obama twice is not merely an evolution of political views.  it's an entire reboot.

While I wish he had supported the libertarian candidate, as I posted in another thread, there is a lot of thinking in libertarian circles that the Dems are closer to the Libs than the GOP is.  Other than matters of the economy, they are reasonably close on immigration, gay marriage, freedom of choice, decriminalization or legalization of vices, access to birth control, scientific advancement (stem cell research, conservation of the environment), foreign wars and the size of the military, investment in research, and a host of other matters.  While it is true they are very different in terms of size of government and it's role in the economy, they aren't that fond of the republicans in that regard either. The notion than libertarian = conservative is way off.  Most modern American conservatives want to greatly restrict your personal liberties on moral (eg: Christian) grounds.  Check out isidewith.com, take the test.  Based on what I know of you from this site, MV, I'll bet you are about 75% aligned with Libertarian policy, 60% Dem, and 35% GOP.

The only team I ever loved was the 1984 Cubs. But I was a degenerate gambler by 13 and soon the only teams I liked were the bastards who would cover the spread. How jaded, cynical and brilliant. I was 63% victorious(18 year span) until I quit.

I was shocked by how close I was to the Green's, too.  My numbers were similar to yours, but lower on the Republican side - a bit less than 50, if I recall.  Glad you liked it, but gotta ask - did the results surprise you?

I had a good run betting football years ago, but not that kind of consistency.  The bookies got it all back within a few years.

Fucking Raiders.

Ultimately, the bookies do win, you're absolutely right. I took a "walk before they make me run" approach. I still partake in pools here and there...but only football.

The Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals were my bane. The motherfuckers got me bad on Dec 7, 1997...Pearl Harbor Day, appropriately enough because I was bombed. It's not wise betting on the Sunday Night game if you've been downing 23oz draught beers since 10am.

I must be drinkin' the Kool-aide, I got -

R 87%
L 69%
D 19%
G  4%

I would have guessed less than that for the Rs and more than that for the Greens (although maybe not, they are more 'Left' than 'pro-environment').  The L and D looks about right.

Interesting.  I take it you are against gay marriage, a woman's right to choice, and the right to ingest whatever substances a free man chooses ( which could be redundant with the first option on this list)?

That surprises me.  I thought you more centrist on social issues.

Would love to have had Onan chime in on the election, left vs. right, etc.  Where the hell has he been? I miss that guy.

        Hmmm...
           I was 84% Stein, 80% Obama, 80% Johnson, 56% Romney.

How that's possible, I'm not sure. No wonder the shrinks dig me.

WARNING: POLITICAL CONTENT

I am against gay marriage, yes.  Not because I am against gays in any way, but because you can't marry a man to a man.  It can't be done.  Yes it's unfair to gays, however eyesight requirements are unfair to people with bad eyesight who wish to become pilots.  Sometimes there's more to life than what's 'fair.'

Yes I am also against infanticide, as everyone should be.  'Choice' is such a lie.  Such an interesting word to use for the killing of an innocent baby.  Real Choice comes before the penis enters the fucking vagina.   Unless of course you're getting raped, but if that's the case, you have bigger problems.

As far as drugs go, yes they should be illegal.  Sometimes the question to ask is "What's good for society?"  Readily available, cheap, legal, addictive, hard drugs are not.  Not good for society.

It stuns me that thinking people can disagree on these things, they seem so self evident to me.  But apparently half of the country is high on copier toner and/or the product of an incestual relationship between retarded Korn fans.  Fuck.
