Yes, it is. I am from Wisconsin. A couple of years back, some liberal activist group was trying to discourage Wisconsinites from eating cheese by linking it to the grim reaper wearing a cheese head worn by Packers fans. My avatar is taken from some of the actual artwork they used in their billboard campaign.

Looks like Wisconsin's version of The Creeper from "Jeepers Creepers."    Man, I love cheese.

I'm sure Hoaxland will pepper his sentences with "my good friend Neil" numerous times.  Funny how he does that with people who have died, thus not allowing them to deny his claims of friendship.  I'm sure most of the people he has claimed to be good friends with had never heard of him.

I can recall several years ago when Noory announced his new-found knowledge that you need to earn a doctoral level degree before you can be considered a scientist in a particular discipline.  I guess Hoaxland can get away with being a "science advisor" while at the same time seeing the Universe through a kaleidoscope of science and science fiction.

Assuming the Hoaxster was closer to sanity at the time, I'm surprised, with his apparent lack of actual science-related credentials, CBS seemed to think he was qualified as some sort of expert suitable for Cronkite and Apollo.  Must have been a whole lot of "baffling with BS" going on.  Oh well, what am I thinking.  Premrat seems to think Noory is qualified to be a radio show host.  :

Not to my knowledge.  But then again, Snoory had his comments on Neil Armstrong passing and then was talking with a guest about Mars.  It would have been the perfect opportunity for Hoagland to pop in as the C2C "science advisor."

Not to mention the fact that the Philippines and China aren't exactly on the best of terms right now. I wouldn't want to spend an extended amount of time there with Chinese warships patrolling the Northwestern coast.

The current issue of Sea Classics has a huge article on China and the deep water carrier and missle fleet which they are building.

Japan and South Korea have agreed to trade intelligence. This led to rioting in Seoul but I suspect both countries will overlook their historical problems because they fear China and its possible hegomony over the South East Pacific more.

I certainly wouldn't want to live in that area once China gets their fleet and begins bullying other countries in the region.

China has bought older aircraft carriers from Australia and Russia, and is building new ones themselves now.  Along with a buildup of new warships, long range aircraft, and beefing up their air defense systems.  They have been very agressive claiming uninhabited islands also claimed variously by Japan, Korea, Taiwan, The Phillipines, Malasia, Viet Nam and Brunei - they've sent armed fishing fleets to them and have begun developing oil and gas facilities.  So far the US has supported multi-lateral talks, peaceful resolution to disputes, and open shipping lanes.  So far the only hostilities that have occured was when China forced our plane - flying over international waters - to land on Hainan Island in 2001.  They stripped it of technology, took the plane apart, boxed it up, and finally released the crew and let us come get the boxes.

We buy an awful lot of goods from China and allow our companies to export jobs there.  Policy is to encourge trade in hopes they will evolve into a friendly competitor and business partner that is more democratic.  We've bent over backwards in trade disputes and copyright piracy issues.  Neither party in the US or the Fed has done anything to suggest we should renege on bonds held by China.

I had an economics professor bring that very question up about 10 years ago. What would happen if we didn't pay back on foreign investments? He wasn't sure.

I have an idea about it though. Do something similar to what New Zealand has done. Someone can start a business there and can make a profit. However, the profits can only be used in New Zealand. I have no idea how the government can enforce that policy; but the people I know that live or lived there tell me it does work. So China is owed a gajillion dollars. Let them do whatever they want with that money as long as it doesn't leave the US.
