Yes. It was very strange for me that first night. I felt so very alone...the first night on this planet without my mother. We're still working out the details of her service and getting relatives into town. Out family does cremation so we have a little flexibility in terms of the timing. We'll probably have the service towards the end of March.

Luckily I have my wife. We took care of my Mom in her final years.  She had mobility problems and mostly stayed in her bed during the last few years of her life.    She was just shy of her 77th birthday. She was the last of my family which included my brother and Dad.  I quit my job after that.  I was so worn out the night before she died, I went to bed. She had  complained that her arms were hurting her but I didn't connect the dots. She didn't think it wa a heart problem so I decided if the problem continued, I'd take her to the hospital in the morning.  I discovered her exactly as I had in the dream that I had 6 months previously.  I could kick myself.

Anyway, my thoughts and prayers are with you.  It is tough losing a mother.

I suggest that George consult IMDB before he does the interview. Memorize his filmography George.

heh. I hope he doesn't, but I imagine Tommee will make him up a cheat sheet.

As are mine with you 21. I'm trying very hard to avoid the "what if" game.

Mom was living mostly independently but I assisted her with doctor's appointments etc. She had COPD and had a bout of the pneumonia and had been hospitalized these past three weeks or so. She was on an upswing I thought at the skilled nursing facility but then she just went. I worry that i didn't push her hard enough to quit smoking a long time ago.

We can only do so much.  Smoking is a hard habit to kick.  Don't beat yourself  up over it.  She wouldn't want you to feel guilty.  I have to run but again my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Please, those cookies should be dipped in brandy, not vodka.  Or maybe a Guinness.   ;)
Oh, yeah.  Pepperidge makes tasty stuff.  These are great, too, with Bailey's Irish Cream.

sorry for your loss, Ciardelo. i agree with 21 about not kicking yourself. i have a friend who has tried several times to kick the habit and is absolutely frustrated because she has yet to do it. its such a difficult thing to kick even though she has tried so desperately to stop. take care of yourself in this time of grief, Ciardelo.

Well he can always fall back on the classic generic script:

So how'd you get into all this movie-making stuff?
What's your number one favorite thing about movies?
What is it about movies that people like so much?
Has movie-making changed with all the technology, like what's in my smartphone?
How can people find your website/book about movies?

Hey look!  Joel Wallach is on again.  ::)  Wednesday the 8th.  Yet again another irresponsible snake-oil shit show by Noory.  I looked at the C2C website and it states the last time Wallach was on was 1/30.  I swear he's been on since then.  Maybe it's all the commercials we hear with his name attached.

Anyway, I tried the critical health news website again.  Previously it prompted me to give my email to enter.  I hade to get their newsletter or something.  Nope.  Don't want that or my info shared with them.  Now it doesn't require that.  You just press the tab acknowledging that you understand that site isn't giving medical advice and it's your choice, blah blah blah.

I just wanted to see the prices of these "supplements."  Wow.  Ridiculously high.  More than I expected.  My curiosity spiked when I heard him telling callers how many doses (packs) of these supplements they would need.  For example Joe Blow is feeling bad, tells Wallach his malady, and the response is "I recommend taking 3 packs of  ***** daily."  The caller doesn't realize he's going to shell out over $180 per month minimum on these things.

It's a damn shame in my opinion.  Saint Noory thinks he's helping people.  He claims to just give options to people and let them decide.  It's been clear for far to long that Noory is a bullshit artist and a salesman.

Yet...I still listen half the time.  :-[   All I have to do is turn the radio off when I go to bed.  :-\  Who knows what brainwashing I've succumb to in my sleep state.  :o  ;)  ;D

I fell asleep listening to classic Art Bell C2C episodes in iTunes the other night and kinda worried about that.  :-\ :D

That bastard is on AT LEAST monthly and I keep hearing him say eat half a carton (or more) of eggs DAILY---you know, the cholesterol helps build up the hormones (which, biochemically and structurally it does) in the body.  As stated before, this shit Wallach takes a 'kernal' of truth and spins it like a politician.  I'm always astounded by the information he shills to the public.  He, Gnoory, and that MZ shit in Santa Cruz are intent on making a buck on shilling/shelling out "info" to the C2C gullible masses.  How is this legal?  It really is a love/hate thing with me.  Dr. Joel is a monthly late night staple entertainment 'treat'--one of which I always look forward to whist shaking my head and screaming at the stupidity being doled out AND the gullibility of the callers around 2:30am.  Good times, indeed.  ;D

Dateline

The focus has shifted from entertaining and informing the Coast audience, to using them as a captive group to shill and make money off of.

Dateline

I am not quoting the above post, but I think there is a stable of criticalhealthnews.com "doctors" that are wheeled and dealed through the monthly scheduling rotation.

Dr. Wallach is just one of a team of supplement sellers.

I'm not bashful and I AM anxiously awaiting the 'interview' on Monday evening.  I say this because it's only one hour which equates to probably 15 minutes tops when you throw in all the commercials, mini-infomercials, news breaks, etc.  Gnoory has LIMITED time (and attention span) to pry anything but ass-kissing out of Mel--and while I truly enjoy Gibson's movies, I keep hoping he slips and refers to Dave as "Sugar Tits" during the big interview.  Schadenfruede, I know.   ;)

The show slated for Wed. sounds better than all this "alt. health" stuff ... and it's on Lyme Disease & Cannibalism.

EDIT: Tue.

That's true Zeeb, and Lyme is a very real and serious topic.  It's the calls and 'alt.advice' he spews that gets me all riled up.   8)

I've had several chronic maladies, pretty life-altering ones, for a long time.  So I've checked into the alt. route on multiple occasions. There are some unorthodox therapies worth trying, but alot of it imho is based on anecdotes and wishful thinking.  (Of course if anything had ever helped me I might think differently.)

Anyway I remember once, during one of several periods of desperation, consulting with an 'herbalist'.  I tried for several months his (rather expensive) supplements, with zero effects except perhaps a slightly green tint to my tongue.  When I went back to discuss, he informed me that, god-like, he realized he no longer even needed the herbs, he could just heal people by spiritually freeing them from 'energy blocks'.

So, thus disillusioned, I went home, dumped the herbs, and proceded with my own nutritional plan .. a meat-lovers pizza washed down with a six-pack of cold beer.  Felt a bit better the next day.

I think we've established from the other night that I love beets.  :)   Noory is just a poser.  He probably hated them as a kid and Mom told him to try this beet drink he is pedaling.  ;)

Yes it is.  Noory should get Daryl Hall on to talk about it since he has it.  Noory should be familiar with Hall & Oates, but who the hell knows.  ;D

ShayP

Since beets were brought up again, I want them. (zeebo's fault  ;D)

Gonna get some red and golden ones tomorrow.  Roast 'em up!  8)  Yum!  :)
