Yep, it is amazing. And the people just tend to accept that it will always be costing us so much $$ and private contractors get so much $$. This 40% hike is just one small example. For the projected budgets and construction costs we probably could just by every one of those few riders on the rail line a nice, new car or even pay their salaries and have them stay home....

Today,  in the morning  I got ready to go to work.  But my car didn't start.  So my boss had to pick me up and then take me home after work.  Call me crazy,  but things like that really annoy me.

And that's not it.  Tomorrow there will be a repeat.  I'm thinking of quitting my job.

My location undisclosed- but very familiar with both places and some others.  And I joke, a bit, about Californians since I have had relatives and friends who have moved back from there. Or to there. But in general, I bitch about them because they bring their odd political ideas, more traffic, and expectations of property values pricing locals out and changing the culture. I guess the whole globalization thing is a unstoppable force- but I still like variety and maintaining local culture, language, values, etc. And I know we, the US, is the major force in it. And, yes, as nasty as it is, it can be comforting to find a US chain, even a McD's when in some country for a burger- which aint good but is consistent

There are so many scams. I lean conservative culturally but more out of tradition and comfort, really more libertarian- I don't really care what people do to each other or themselves, just not in public and not as a mainstay of the civilization. But I don't like "pro-business" conservatives with sweet-heart deals, these "tax deals", etc to get businesses to move. Because they often leave, don't hire locals, price out local businesses, etc. And that isn't "competition." I also am not above anti-competition stuff, if people abide it. I think local control should be more of the goal. If a person, neighborhood, city, county, state, country, etc wants to do their own thing--- let them! Within reason, of course, but I don't like the idea of even national regulatory agencies- much less secretive treaties where unelected technocrats on tribunals can "judge" where we did something wrong to hurt someone else.
