Jeebus I can't stand De Blabbio. Every time he gives a press conference, the puke-o-meter goes off scale. Not that I was a fan of Bloomberg as his little ticketing schemes jacked the prices of tickets to three figures for asinine offenses. But at least he planted trees. The city was a safe, pleasant place to be under Bloomberg. In the YEAR AND A HALF De Blasio has been in office, violent crime has spiked, pervasive homelessness is on full display for the tourists, and there's a general feeling of unease. He needs to let Bratton do his damn job - thankfully he approved the 1300 new cops, but will they be allowed to do anything?

lived in NY for two years...great state...made great friends... Wish the best for you all...but I get the sense it's changing in a negative direction...sure hope I'm wrong..

I know, I just read the statistics and it isn't good. I wonder how the 1300 new cops feel about a mayor who's made his antipathy pretty well-known. I think you can safely assume their hands will be tied until One Term Bill is out of office.

I was a little bitter about getting caught in two of Bloomberg's ticketing blitzes but I guess I should have known better, but those tickets cost a lot of $$$. Even the cops admitted I would have gotten a warning if it wasn't for the blitz. That put me off him. That, and his stupid soda obsession. But the city was safer and that is the truth.

I imagine so. There are 6 or 7 people who regularly sleep on 33rd St between 7th Ave & Herald Square at night. You literally have to step over them to get by or just walk in the street. I've seen cops at the pizza place that's right there that have done nothing about this - under Bloomberg they would've been taken to shelters, but under De Blasio they just set up camp wherever they please. Same deal in Penn Station. It's like walking through an asylum.

All completely ridiculous - the ticket blitzes were about nothing but revenue generation for an already bloated municipal budget. My car got towed a couple times until I got press plates.

Already being done, in a more sinister way. Claims have been made that homeless were bussed in from Winston-Salem to a small town, Cullowhee. Allegedly to carry signs and wear pro support fracking shirts.

Yeah, this is hitting into politics... and that annoys me too.

Actually I believe it's impossible to change these days since the option has disappeared? I'm stuck in the always-on position. At first I got uptight thinking "Oh Noes, folks'll see me logged in at 4am!" Then I got over it about five seconds later realizing anyone who notices must be logged on too.
