Has anyone confirmed that that is indeed the legitimate Facebook account for the man?
which one? there appears to be several Art Bell themed Facebook pages, many are fan-based though.

Can't hear the ham radio garbled conversation with Art Bell re Noory?  I'll sum it up for you:

Noory shouldn't have moved to L. A.  where all the Premier politics is.  I would have never let them move me.

That plus supporting info about cost of living in L.A. vs St. Louis and that's about it.

"If you've ever sat in a darkened cockpit, in front of a twinkling control panel, and prepared for a night flight, you know the feel of what all-night radio can be like--the excitement of knowing that you'll be flying high and covering great distances while others are asleep. On "Coast to Coast AM" Art Bell is at the controls, guiding his millions of national listeners through the night's news, and bringing them in for a safe landing by dawn. That's Art Bell, and that's the Art Bell show. His fans know the feeling very well."

Yes, we do.

Marc - He could just use what you just wrote with his voice over Crystal Gayle's song AND DONE!  Just change the pronouns.  Gave me chills.... and the new artbell.com website is a cockpit control panel, of course.....

Noory's ultimate interview: himself.

I can just imagine it now...*shudder*

He'd hang up on himself.

perhaps the title of this thread is the problem.
it should be instead called "Speculation on Art Bell returning to radio" or something like that to not infer its a done verified deal until/if that ever happens?

The other name for this thread is: "fun".  The speculative part is IMPLICIT.

no way, its not even a done deal yet and Art said he would only do it if he gets everything he wants, so it might not even happen.
as Art has often told his listeners: stay tuned...

I remember getting an email reply from Art some ten years ago or so that closed with exactly those words too.  Here I am now, still tuned in.   For the past few years I'd given up even checking fan forums periodically for news.   Then Art started his facebook page and there was a disturbance in the force.   I just joined coastgab  late this past summer because it looked like the place where Art might soon be heard from if there was real news, and so it was.     Now the universe is practically vibrating.   I think it might really be happening this time.    Stay tuned, indeed.

Same here, except I registered here last spring. I've been checking in at least twice a week since then. Now I'm sitting here listening to an old show, wondering if soon there'll be a new one. At this point I can't even imagine what a new show from Art would be like, but I hope we find out!

No, that's the bugged Limie comedian dead 30 years on. Marty Friedman is the former guitarist of Megadeth who makes Japanese bukkake music now.

Yes.. I'm a new user and actually read this whole thread.

Total Art Bell fan here, and a ham. If he returns I will be so happy!!

Yes, I was impressed when I saw your mention of Marty, but then you's got the Mahavishnu logo. Now, what's with the Yes bashing? :-0

Admiral, where are you at today? I have a question of coast security for you that needs to be resolved forthwidth. Your presence is requested in sonar.

I'm a devotee of Yes, from the '69 debut even up intil 90125...after that it's a bit spotty. So,the criticism comes from a fan. Tony Kaye, I do view as their weak spot.

Nope. Never been lucky enough to QSO him. He's usually deep on the Extra license frequencies and I'm only a General license. Maybe some day. But honestly, I would not seek it out. On radio we're all equal. And I'm not willing to "fanboi" the guy.

From here it's a very small step to doing garbage tosses and actual tails. Hell, Fort, just go whole hog and do a septic tank sift - there's probably all kinds of great info just waiting on you.

I think we ran him off for the night. That, or he had to climb up the stairs and change Mom's pissbag. Either way, Admiral FortRock, present yourself.

Yeah, Groundhog Day's over...let's not even start this again.

Yes, it's Art's real Facebook page, cross-referenced, tied to known email and IP addresses, and confirmed by him in other verified forums, including this one. You can also find his wife's page if you care to look, though she's understandably more guarded and selective in who she interacts with. In any case for two years now both of their pages have regularly shown family photos including a growing Asia Bell with her parents. If that's not enough for you, well...too bad. It's legit.

More hopeful banter:

I was just listening to Future Theater with Bill & Nancy Birnes (of UFO Magazine & UFO Hunters TV show).  Their guest mentioned C2C.  Nancy Birnes said C2C days and influence are numbered because Art Bell says he is coming back with a new show and that he is going to "tell tales".  Ms. Birnes added that Art Bell will rule the field again and everyone will have to listen to his show.

The Birnes are insiders who know all the big players and it is wonderful to hear that they believe this will be reality and will be a smash success.

Future Theater is a weekly show on the Inception Radio Network:

You will have to subscribe for about $5 per month if you want to listen.  Anyway, more good news to share!  :D

Thats interesting considering that Bill Birnes is a close associate of George Noory, and was involved in the production of some of Noory's books...

Was.  Partnership was shattered when he nixed the book Nancy was ghosting for him.  I am pretty sure Bill got the boot at that time, too, as he stated their future projects were cancelled.  George has new partners.

The Birnes are pistols, if naught else.  Nancy took George to the woodshed several programs ago.  I have to say I enjoyed it.  Noory, uggh. FWIW, though.

I'm going to cross-post this because I think it's a good point to consider.

There seems a general consensus among most of us, tacitly or implicitly supported by various comments Art's made (however vague), that we don't care for George Noory and what Coast has become in the decade since Art's ceding the main hosting duties to him. Most of us also seem to agree that Wells is pretty bad, and that we like Ian and Knapp (with Simone being a harmless but largely unknown quantity). I know there are some exceptions and I don't mean to generalize, but--I think those are points the majority of us on this site will agree on, just as there is almost unanimous agreement that we miss Art's voice and are thrilled at the notion of him taking to the airwaves once again. I know that at the very least, those are MY feelings.

Having said that, I think there might be a little too much focus on the "competitive" angle, ie, "Noory/Premiere better duck, Art's coming to take him DOWN!" That's a paraphrase, but it encapsulates the tone of a lot of the sentiment. And certainly, it's a sentiment I sympathize with.

That said...how do we know that's what Art actually wants to do?

Granted...he's made it clear he's not happy with Premiere; with what Coast has morphed into; and (subtly) with the job that Noory has done. And there are countless hints of double-dealings, backstabbings, betrayals et al on behalf of those entities towards Art that we haven't even begun to realize. (His threat to "tell all" or "tell his side of the story about his so-called retirements" is pretty telling in itself, even though he has yet to actually do it.)

Even so, Art has said he "doesn't wish to destroy what he created, or what's left of it". That implies--and I've made this point before--he's confident that he COULD destroy it if he wished. And that may well be part of what's motivating him to do something now that he is legally free to do so.

That said...I doubt "revenge" is, or should be, Art's sole motivation in coming back. I hope it's not even a primary motivation. I really hope he's doing it because radio is in his blood and he misses it, and the interaction with guests and callers, the ability to share his views on life, the universe and everything, etc.

Now, if in the process of that, Noory's Coast happens to take a hit to its ratings or affiliate count...I'm sure he wouldn't lose too much sleep over that, nor would any of us. (Though I suspect if Coast ever finally folded he would weep for its end, since it was his baby to begin with, regardless of what it became.)

(It might also be noted that perhaps Noory and the Coast team have done all they can in the last few years to shore up affiliates, pad ratings and create the notion that they ARE (as I called them in a different post) an unstoppable juggernaut...because they knew the day would come when they WOULD have to contend with a challenge from Art Bell on a competing network.)

Ultimately though, whatever happens to Coast itself, Art is an adult and a professional, and I suspect and hope that while ratings and competition are going to be important factors in any new endeavor, he's not going into this with a Noory-sized chip on his shoulder or a single-minded determination to exterminate Noory's show at all costs. I hope he just wants to create really good radio again. He knows what he's created, what he's capable of, he's confident in his abilities, and he doesn't have anything to prove, to himself or to us. And as much as we all may chuckle over the effect it may have on Noory's Coast, and create wish-fulfillment JPEGS and videos illustrating those fantasies in graphic detail--I guess I just find the appearance of everyone lusting for Noory's blood to be slightly disturbing, not least because I  share a degree of that bloodlust myself. So  I hope we can all just focus on sending our energy towards Art making his show as great as it can possibly be.

And if we do that, I suspect, Noory's Coast will become increasingly irrelevant regardless. Art has the goods, and if he brings them to the marketplace--truth will out. Hold up a clean glass and a dirty glass, and let people decide for themselves. Success, even triumph, in the marketplace will be vindication enough for Art, and should be so for those of us who support and believe in him.

Eloquently and altruistically expressed, Morphia.

I like to think of myself as a pacifist, and I theoretically agree with all you've said. If it weren't for Noory's regular arrogant, egotistical, chest-beating on the air and his years of ignoring those of us who have personally corresponded with him in a logical and non-confrontational manner (at least at first), I would consider his (hopeful) demise as being simply "bidniz" as usual.

All things considered, however, I would take great pleasure in knowing the man was squirming in his chair with sweat pouring down his brow, as he begged his equally bloodless enablers for just one more chance to stay on the air.

Art will have his own feelings and Scully will have hers, and the two are completely unrelated in the scheme of things.

Which is why my view is, if this indeed comes off, Art is not going to engage in a hard vengeance fantasy fulfillment. "Getting even" in print, via electrons or sound waves is a very tricky proposition, and a tiny bit of it goes a long way. It ends to make the one getting even look small and petty. I think Art understands this and will not dwell much on the details of wrongs he think done to him. Instead I think he'll have a positive spin and will look all the more dignified by being the bigger man.

This is my fantasy as well, although I don't think it will be publicly realized. Still, it brings a smile to face to imagine Noory and the suits sitting around the table, looking at each other blankly, going, "Now what?!"

morphiaflow

I hope no one thinks I'm being soft on Noory; I really don't think he's done a good job, I do think he's the absolute epitome of a corporate tool/shill (right up there with Leno), and I really hope he does not have much of a future in radio. But that's really hard to say, you know? I would just rather send positive energy to Art and hope his new show is great on its own terms, and not some "getting even/revenge" thing. Which I don't think it would be. Of course Coast was Art's baby so this is doubtless very personal to him and I'm sure even if he were to clobber Noory's Coast in the ratings (fingers crossed) any satisfaction he'd get from that would still be tinged with sadness and regret and loss at what once was and might have been, and what didn't have to be.

In any case yes I DO derive some satisfaction from the notion of Noory and company squirming; but who knows? Maybe they are doing all they can to shield Noory and pump him full of "you got nothing to worry about, you're our guy" bs. Or maybe he's in such an insulated, isolated bubble, secure in the infrastructure that he's turned Coast into (as detestable as it may be to most of us) that he really does think he's got nothing to worry about from the return of Mr. Bell to the airwaves.

Time will tell.

In any case, I am sure of one thing, based on his response to me in private yesterday and his public message on the "People Who Miss Art Bell" FB page: Art's keeping an eye on what we, the fans, are saying. He may not chime in much, but--I think we can safely assume there's a very good chance he's reading most if not all of these posts and threads. Which I think is great.

MV/Liberace!
