A little disappointed, but... I still have hope for a new show and I'm patient. I also hope Art gets a chance to vent is anger with Premiere in one way or another.

It's long past midnight here in Poland, so time for some old Art Bell classic...

I hope I don't seem like I'm flipping out but I think like most of us I'm disappointed. Trying not to let it be anything deeper than that, but the Charlie Brown/football analogy on another thread does accurately describe how I feel. Frustrated. And I know I'm not alone.

And for most of that decade until just over two years ago we were still getting regular, if limited, infusions of Art's voice on the air, 10-15 times a year (and once or twice a week from 03-06). It was kind of a lifeline. Now we have his FB and his occasional posts here, but while that's better than nothing...I just really hope the man broadcasts again.

Again I'm an optimist so I will also hang on the "never say never/not now/not yet/when it can be done right for the right reasons" angle of Art's postings. Just wish the carrot wasn't dangled so close, so regularly, only to be snatched away or shown for illusion.

Not mad at Art for doing what he feels is right, nor at myself or anyone else for getting hopes raised. Just upset at the circumstances and situation as a whole, I suppose.

to clarify:

the "art's new show" thread is now appropriately merged into this "art quits" thread.

Fair enough and a wise way of handling it.

While I am very disappointed, I think that Art could at least guest on a podcast or radio show to explain what went down with Premiere and tie up other loose ends. Then he can fade away into retirement, it's the least he can do after dragging us along for so long with false hope.

Is anyone else not at all surprised at this?  Par for the course, considering his past behavior and ambivalence over the last decade toward doing the show.  He did say that he'd come back *only* if he got an ideal offer.  But people worked themselves into a frenzy over the suggestion that he *might* come back, and it's partly their fault for reading too much into Art's ever-cryptic FB posts.

I was hoping this legendary thread would reach 200 pages this week, but then again we haven't read any new scorpion army field notes. My source says FR is crying on his tarot deck.

I've thought for years that a podcast for art would be perfect for the whole show.  I realize Art has always been a radio guy, which is partly what attracts him to hosting a show in the first place.  However, with that being said...

Think of the perks and benefits that would come from a podcast.  Art would be able to hand pick who he does commercials for.  There wouldn't be any pressure in any way from any "networks" to have certain guests or to air certain ads.  This would also give Art total freedom to take time off without any worries whatsoever.  At this point, while money definitely talks, I think freedom is even more important is what I'm getting at.  I imagine a show like Art's would go viral *really quick and attract hundreds of thousands world wide.  With numbers like that, people would beg him for ad time.

If it weren't for a network contract, Art would not have hesitated imo...

If Art really wanted to do radio, he would just do it. You don't have to find an excuse or meaning to do something. Just saying you wanted to come back is reason enough to try. You dont have to say it has anything to do with premrat or noory. Do it because YOU want to do it. Its obvious he does want to, because he keeps getting everyones hopes up about it.
I for one wont get my hopes up. If it happens, it happens. If it doesnt, it doesnt. But Im not going to put anything into what Art has to say about it anymore, because its pointless to do so.

here it is......

Something doesn't sound right.  Probably not enough money in the proposed contract.

well.......shit.
^ <--- THAT
It's alright though, it is. Although it would be psychologically satisfying to hear Art on the air again, and bitching about that son of a bitch Noory, it wouldn't be Art doing a show for the right reasons, but out of vengeance. The show probably wouldn't have lasted much longer than it would take Art to castrate Noory verbally and win. About two hours, then the show would have been over again. I'm not pissed off at you Art, I understand  :)

I wish he would just say fuck it, Noory is a dickhead and a phony son of a bitchin cockeater. I think I'll just hang out on CoastGab with the rest of these good people and complain about Noory. I'd settle for that instead of a new show. Be a great place to vent over those no-talent cockmasters for him. I would read his posts.

And it's beautiful. Any biography without that picture of him in court is incomplete.

Well, goddamn motherfuckin' shit.  That  sucks Art.

Good luck though.

This is a bummer, but it's not like we had anything set in stone. Art is still one of the bigger free agents in radio, and will always draw interest...I'd like to know who spurned who here, if that's the case.

I have to agree with CrabbyOld Bat.  The thought of Jorch and his puppet masters gloating is perhaps the worst part of all this.  Everything else I feel is just normal resignation.

Honestly, I think Art takes the offer if he knows he can win, likely a small player offer and not enough stations came along because of the Premiere threat.  If Cumulus or Sirius get serious, we get Art.

Having thought about it I think it is a combination of this and revenge. Art likes to win and if he received an offer from a small player that didn't guarantee him the crushing of PremRad that he wanted then he wasn't going to play and risk losing to them.

Revenge can be a great motivator... Do it Art, for revenge!

Oh - if I might request - if anyone decides to post something about Art's Facebook page, either:

1) copy/paste the information or
2) take a screenshot and post it.

Too many of us refuse to participate in the evil that is known as FB, and therefore links do us no good. Thanks to The General for taking the lead (no pun intended)

The thing is, he doesn't owe his fan base anything. We choose to follow and hang on every word because we feel strongly about his work. But once it starts becoming "he owes us this or that" then maybe it's time to step back a bit. If nothing else this collective groan just goes to show how invested we are in Art as a personality.

I understand it's frustrating, especially since it now seems like yet another stirring of the pot. After a few years of false starts and rumblings it really seemed like something was finally coming together and in some ways it does feel like the rug has been pulled out from under us. But the man himself said "not yet". So I'll continue to wait and see.

There's always a ton of old shows online and I'm still hearing stuff I've never heard before on the stream.

Admiral Fort Rock, your presence is requested on the bridge.

Well, I don't think anyone will be excited by anything Art write's anymore. Anything less than hearing his voice on the radio live again will be met with waves of agnosticism
