Honest opinion?  Ever since he said he quit BellGab, he has been coming in here and reading the forum. I think he may just be looking for enough negative comments to convince himself that he just needs to shut the whole thing down. And then he can blame it on us trolls.

Funny you should say that. I read a phrodo post hours ago, and the gramatic structure was identical to a paragraph I've read of Art's. It actually made me ask, is this Art. Wouldn't surprise me at all.

I think the handling of this by Art has done something remarkable to fans like me. And it's sad, really.

While I wish him and his family the best, I no longer care if he comes back. We had what we had, which was awesome. Now all we have is drama.

What I'm saying is- don't get your hopes up.

HE just re-signed with Sirius/Xm for another 5 years.  Howard knows how to make a commitment and stick with it.

Yeah, I know, but you know what they say, there are NO coincidences! The real funny thing is, there was a member on here, not too long ago, that was using Vonnegut's version as his avatar. He was claiming it was some kind of selfie that he took with his I-Phone 9, or some such nonsense. I actually believed him, until I did a reverse-image search. Call me gullible!

For months, Bellgab did a LOT for MITD, and MV moderated the boards sparsely.  Bellgabbers pushed radio stations to carry MITD.  Big affiliates were gained.  And this worked.

Kind of interesting when you think about it... Art needed the help of this place and got tons of it, I'd actually venture to say that the snowballing success of MITD was pretty fucking impressive and much of it came from the same folks here who are now extremely pissed off/disappointed with the guy they tried to help.

I don't know.  It can be a double edged sword obviously, but just remember one thing... Art was lucky as hell to have such a huge, loyal fanbase on bellgab and facebook who came through for him to promote MITD when he needed it done.  In return Art quit yet again and shit all over his fanbase yet again... how could he possibly have not expected the intense backlash??  Folks are SICK of his shit at this point.  Lots of folks probably feel personally betrayed after the effort they put in to promote MITD.

I honestly don't know. I think it was a fabrication, but initially it wasn't made up as an "out". I think it may have been made up to implicate someone on team Noory.....in other words, to show us that Noory and Tommy feel so threatened by art that they are trying to scare him off the air. Then, as time went on, he wanted to put Heather in his chair, not sure if he wanted to leave, or just wanted to make Heather a successful radio person., this part is unclear.
I doubt Abby Normal even happened.

I'm flying high enough that I started the Bellgab Royal Rumble. Got to entrant 6, and then lost interest. It had the usual spots... 5 guys have to get Falkie out, Eddie Dean sneaks out of the ring until the end... Art comes out, walks halfway down the ramp then turns around and walks out... Final 4 Comes down to Redacted, Bateman, PBS and the forgotten Eddie Dean... Dean and PBS are the final two, he goes the chivalry route and starts to eliminate himself, then turns heel and tosses her over. Eddie dean to face MV at Gabamania.

Huh?  If I remember correctly Art tried putting Heather "in the chair" beginning on the very first episode of MITD.  You seem to be forgetting that initially Art wanted her as a full time co-host... doesn't take a genius to see that he was probably planning a nice flighty way out the door before it even began.

No, I didn't forget that. But, he never actually said he wanted her as a "co host"., that was something people on this board were saying, as far as I know.
I can't wrap my head around someone putting in work, building up a following, all along knowing they were going to back out. Unless he was building it all up to give it to Heather, which of course is very possible.

I'm pretty sure Art did in fact state on air that he was "testing the waters" to have her as a co host... but listeners didn't want it, so she quickly disappeared until his reretirement.  Somebody here maybe can confirm this, since some here probably have recordings of the really early pilot show and first episodes of MITD.

If you look back in this thread during the June timeframe, I believe Art posted about want to try her out as a cohost. I know that happened in at least one parallel universe. It might have been this one.

Actually on the test show it was mentioned she might be on open lines shows to add another voiace.  If Art really wanted her to take over he could have had her fill in on his nights off.  My opinion is that he regrets quitting like he did and is ham-handedly trying to fix the situation as best he can.  Unfortunately he is just dumping gasoline on the fire.  I'm neither an Art basher nor an Art defender.  I just enjoyed listening to him on the radio.  I'm sad he's gone but suspect I'll survive.  What baffles me the most is both the piling-on and defending.

Ok, we learned a lot tonight, people do not want me to have a co-host, not Redacted's fault at all just people who don't like change. She really sounded awesome.

We also learned that massive Thunderstorms screw with Internet over the 9000 foot Mountain it comes over, sad thing is it might happen again tonight. Looking at options that might include a t1. Otherwise it was a blast. We will work out the kinks.
