Perhaps one has ethics that don't allow for some of the creativity. I can assure you he has the intelligence.

Not everyone likes Art as much as most of us... perish the thought I know.
I know that I will end up in trouble here... but do those ethics extend to all facets of life?  I have only read about these morals and ethics when it comes to listening to Arts show (presumably because we all like Art and wish him the best.)  I do not recall anybody here ever worrying about poor premiere and George when people would post to youtube.  Everybody was appalled and upset when Premiere demanded that funkybaldy take down his stream and when they demanded that (the stream before his, whose name I forget) be taken down.  They legally own the rights to everything Coast related, but somehow these morals only extend to Art.

Please do not get me wrong- I am not somebody who believes that everything should be free and there should be no intellectual property... and I have my own flexible morals when it comes right down to it (I believe that anybody who claims to have permanent, rigid morals to be full of shi!)

My hat is off to anybody who has never purposely broken international copyright laws by watching a pirated movie, uploading or downloading an artists song, copying a section of a textbook, downloading software that they should have paid for or printing a picture that they do not own the rights to (I know so many parents who buy the cheap picture package and to avoid the photographers inflated prices and copyright scan it at Walmart to print pictures...)

Like I said- I admire those who honestly have "morals".  I also find it interesting how quick we are to judge those who do not share the exact morals we hold because we have drawn the line for ourselves that may be further than RIAA's line but not as far as the owners of "pirate bay."  The one thing that we do know is that nobody should judge us for saving a few dollars copying our child's school picture, but we should be free to be upset at the bastard who cheated Lady GaGa out of a dollar by downloading her latest song.

It might be classic. Here's what I envision:

Whoopi: "Welcome to The View!"

GN: "How are yeewwwwwwwww"

Whoopi: "It's great that you're returning to radio Art."

GN: "But ... "

Wawa: "It says here you haven't been on the air since 2010."

GN: "A lot of people say it's been even longer."

Is that a morning show?  Does anyone know what time it's on?  That should be hilariously awful

PB, it comes on here at 10:00 AM PST...  Should be interesting...

Thanks, don't think I've ever watched anything on TV during the day except sports. I think I'll make an exception for this.

Maybe we can catch a glimpse of Tommy off to the side giving him handsignals

I have met very few if any people that are consistent with every thought they have. People are often irrational in their thoughts and beliefs. Still if someone decides that doing a specific act is wrong, unless that non-act is in someway harmful, what business is it of anyone's that the belief is held. god that is wordy.

It is tough to make a meaningful argument when arguments are used that don't really meet the context of the premise. Is lady Gaga harmed? probably not. But I will suggest doing something "wrong" even in a small way is more than likely harmful to the perpetrator. Erosion of values is never a one step approach. Where we draw the line (all of us) is more important that many ever consider.

When one does set a standard for themselves it often means some amount of snickering from those in the nearby.

Probably one of the most human things is equivocating. Is it wrong to copy a son's or daughter's school photograph when money is tight? the quick answer is no. However what if the photographer is just as poor as the parent? I am not setting the standard here. I don't think you are attempting that either.

It is also very hard to hold a line when our reality tells us we are cheated by others who are richer, more powerful and/or less caring than we are.

My original point was nothing more than suggesting there are more reasons for not listening to a subscription service than lack of intelligence or creativity. simply put, to suggest it is stupid to not break a law is a wtf moment. Even is the slightest example.

Kudos to Peter Breggin  for not buying into George's "we gotta keep an open mind" about the possibilities that the D.C. naval yard killer was a government mind controll project.  "No, we don't," he said, and went on to explain why the guy was just plain nuts.  No harmness from Angus Dinsdale, who's dad it was that captured the Loch Ness Monster on film oh so many years ago.  Although I sort of dogged him a few days ago, Jerome Corsi impressed me with his theory that JFK was killed by Allen Dulles, who later sat on the Warren Commission.  Sweet.  And Officer Tippit was in on the conspiracy?  And the usually useless Geraldo Rivera was the first person to show the Zapruder film to America?  How come I didn't know that?

way to go, Geraldo

Dave who?

I notice my even glancing at the Snoory Sucks thread has dropped to almost nothing.  I'll never forget, but its time to move on except for when Snoory's occasional outrages require comment.

Art Bell rules!  Now back to the proper thread.

ACE of CLUBS

Jerome Corsi was very interesting concerning JFK's murder.  George, for the most part, did a passable interview.  Missing were 'follow-up' questions, or any questions of depth.  On the 1 to 10 scale ...... Corsi was a 10, and George was a 7.

Would have liked to hear Jerome Corsi with Art.

George, I feel that you were more involved in your job as host last night.  Hoping that you 'can up your game' as suggested by Art.  You've had a coattail ride for a decade ...... now's the time to go to work.  Hope you are able to improve.

Jake

Noory did a okay job last night. I only caught the second half of the show though because I was listening to Art.

The Corsi interview was pretty good. I wasn't expecting much since Noory was conducting the interview but at least George was somewhat engaging.  Corsi did a great job though. I found him to be very interesting.

Well, hurray and halleluiah, finally a guest with gumption and common sense. No, Jorch, even the shooter's mother said he was mentally ill and would no longer hurt anyone. So much for your mind control, but it's ok to keep your tinfoil hat on in case anyone tries to intrude into your thoughts, squirrely as they may be.

I have decided to terminate my counseling sessions.  For years, I have reclined on the couch fussing about sucking and people in this world just don't know how to effectively communicate on real terms.  Today, the counselor before I began the session, asked me "What has changed and is different in your world since we last met?"  I responded, "Well, Art Bell is back on the radio, and it is like a fireside chat that he extends a seat or pillow for you to set on.  He draws you in, and even though you cannot converse, he communicates with you though some type of channel and asks the guest all of the questions that you would ask that person, if you could vocally communicate.  It is intimate, just like you are there.  You hate to leave, for coffee, for a smoke, if you smoke, to let the dog out, or to empty your kidneys.  Many things are put on hold until the interview or conversation is concluded.  When it is done, I feel gratified, expansive and content, sleep comes to me deep and satisfying, and if I engage in other activities, it is well . . "

After this introduction to my therapist, I knew my situational depression was over.  I excused myself early from the session and did not schedule another appointment.  My serotonin is popping and I am so excited, another Bell night awaits.  I am cured!  Sucking is not on my channel again.

Good Lord. This is getting into the realm of the lame being healed by touching the hem of a garment. I'm starting to get creeped out.

My point is that Art draws you into the conversation.  Noory does not.  It is more a question and answer session between him and the guest that you might undergo in the classroom.  You may listen and learn, something, but are you engaged?

Really looking forward to Noory's appearance on The View tomorrow. Ten bucks says he wears one of the Guys and Dolls outfits he sports on Beyond Belief. Another ten says he starts out kissing Whoopi's ass by raving about Ghost.

I agree!  Art is set and ready to go with his interview.  You can tell that he is personally interested in what the interviewee has to say.

When I heard Art talk about the way Premiere "took care of him,"  I felt a bit sad for not understanding the initial impact of George's behavior.  George is such an ass. As Art said about George, he doesn't believe in coincidences.

So true.  Art is honestly enthusiastic about his show.  You can feel his joy infuse everything including show prep, interviewing the guests, taking on open lines, picking the bumper music, having fun with setting up the website, etc.

Noory just likes the status, pay, notoriety, control, etc. of sitting in a host's chair, and goes through the minimum motions he has to to keep the gig going.

M&N,  I love this!!  You are so right about the questions you have, get asked by Art.  Very cool...

Earth Pod

I love Art's open lines.  He always had a way of making them interesting, unlike GN.  Here's what Art said about un-screened calls:

“In my opinion, any talk show host worth his salt can take any call and make it funny, informative or something,” he said. “If you are good at what you do, you can handle it. I don’t need to screen calls. It’s also entirely possible that a call-screener might well screen out a gem. Someone who might sound nutty to a call-screener may be a blast.”

And that's the truth!!

George ..... If you were a smart guy, this is your perfect chance to learn from the 'master of talk radio' .....
You'll be getting a lesson daily if you do a re-play.  Just part of your eight hours of show prep.
Although you'll probably never regain the respect you may have had in the first few years of hosting, it would be foolish of you to throw away this chance to learn your craft from the man who handed you your job.

Leave your ego and pride at home George ..... this is your big chance, don't fuck it up.

Looking at a show description of tomorrow's View - Noory isn't listed as a guest but there is mention of a new segment called "Out of This World" ... hmmmm..... ??

GN may also throw in his knee-jerk fib that "A day doesn't go by w/o someone mentioning how great you were in Ghost"  Oh Georgie....

Noory will have two minutes at the end of the show. Plenty of time to make an ass of himself. 10 bucks says he touches someone inappropriately and makes an awkward remark  that makes everyone uncomfortable.

George Noory is ronely

"I'm so ronely"....thanks for my big guffaw of the evening!  That was hysterical!!!    ;D
Now that Mr. Ronely is going on that thinktank known as, "The View", he is finally being acknowledged as the celebrity and intellectual he always knew he could be!

Anyone like me gonna still catch the Snore's first hour out of lingering morbid fascination, but then slide over to Art's show for the rebroadcast?  I think that's gonna be my standard schedule for awhile.
