And here's my personal favorite, a veterinarian talking about cancer-detecting dogs.  This thing plays like a scene from one of those Christopher Guest mockumentaries--I can totally see Eugene Levy delivering George's final line.

Excellent, Maxwell!
George Noory, how do you suck? Let us count the ways.

Noory should have retired when he promised to 10 years ago on the Dec 21, 2012 date.
The timing would have been perfect for Art Bell's return in 2013.
Noory has outstayed his welcome too long already...

Great clips Maxwell!
Thanks

I thought I'd say goodbye to the thread with a few clips.  I was going to put together an epic 10-minute piece that would shame George into retiring, but at this point, who cares?

Here's George trying to recall the phrase "blink of an eye" but missing.  Twice.

"Is it the beat of an eye or the click of an eye?" I nearly spat my coffee out then, that is hilarious.

Keep in mind, at this point George has been the full-time host of the show for ten years.

Is there a big collection of these gaffs anywhere? I like the way he makes no attempt to correct it. I really do.

George Norry ladies and gentleman. I don't really know what the Elvis was about. And I am sorry for the delay. It took him a while to get in, but he is here now. Lets here it for Art Bell.

Hi Gabs and Gabetts! Long time listener, first time poster.

How in the world is GN going to clean up his mess??  Everyone knows its not nice to mess w/Mother Nature and in the broadcast world I'd guess the same applies to Art Bell.  Boy did GN step in it and think he super glued his foot down.  Is there enough humble pie on this planet to get him out of this?  I can just imagine what the paranormal community thinks of him--added to what they already thought.  How can he even show his face on his TV show or at his speaking engagements after Art has spoken?   Yikes...I wouldn't want to be GN....

I'm always curious about human behavior and can tell GN has been flipping out over Art's glorious return to the air waves...in a very kookie, odd and vicious ways.  That shows that GN has to know that he's messed up and can't blame it on the blessed haters or the wretched forums.  I also hope he doesn't hurt himself--that did cross my mind a few days ago because he has lost face--big time!  It was also very odd that he would post/chat in his own George Noory Sucks! thread.  Who does that??

Other than that, I'm all Siriused up and ready to roll 7PM Monday eve---can't wait!!!

Hello MABUSE!! I read you're one of the coolest people ever on these interwebs. Nice to meet you  ;D I hope you'll be posting often.

Hello Earth Pod, welcome to Bell Gab.

I don't think Noory cares enough to fix anything and it's far too late for that anyway. The man has no shame whatsoever as long as they keep paying him. I've got to admit, it's fun watching him lose it as he realizes the writing's on the wall for his little racket and C2C. I certainly won't be shedding any tears as he goes into long overdue retirement.

Just when you thought I was gone . . .

So I see the honeymoon is over before the wedding happened in the Art Bell thread. I said early on that y'all had a time warped view of Art's shows and this was going to happen. You can't spend a decade listening to "Best of" and then expect that as the night to night fare. I, on the other hand, remember the endless Whitley, Hoagland, Dames etc. that were Art's mainstays. Here's a nice statement about Noory you can all hang me for over the next few days: Dames appears less than he did in the good old days.

Don't get me wrong, I've almost lost bowel control over Art's impending return. My SiriusXM is set up, and I'm hoping for nothing but what he used to do from him and wish him the greatest return to the public eye ever. But I suspect that's not going to please the haters, and, hell,I may yet end up being called an "Art Bell shill" instead of a "Noory shill" before this is all over.

George Noory sucks ... because he had Oates on.

I sent an email to Lisa complaining about George once, and her reply was that George Noory is the 'hardest working man in radio'.

I don't know which is worse, the blatant lie, the insult to people's intelligence, or the laziness of stealing a famous (infamous?) line from James Brown - the original 'hardest working man in show business'.

Nope.  We're just putting in our 2c on programming and hoping Art reads it.

Are you sure SIT is truly a 'Best of'?

I don't get SIT here so haven't really listened to many of them, but if the same people that choose what to play when George bails on the last hour or two of a Friday show are choosing the SITs, I'd guess they are just grabbing random tapes to play.

Quality is not a priority with George Noory on anything, and my guess is his group handles SIT.

I don't mean SIT at all. You guys left that arena years ago. You're out trading recordings of shows, looking for certain specific things you remember, digging around Youtube and download sites to find the very best possible Art Bell for *YOUR* personal tastes and judging everything else based on that from a perspective of a decade or more later. For a while now, you've been hanging Noory based on that bar. Now, when Art's announcing his guests, many are like "Oh fuck, he's having Hoagland on. WTF?" -- like he didn't have Hoagland on numerous times each year during the heyday. Or Dames, who the fuck do you guys think found Dames?

Art will be Art. He will do what he did in 1995 at best. That's the highest bar you can reasonably expect. That's fucking magnificent in my book, there was lots of great radio then, but like he did back then he's going to produce only 10 or 15 exceptional shows each year. The rest will be lesser.

Noory's an asshole for the Oates thing. No question. But we're moving into new territory where I'm already seeing disappointment in Art's choice of guests for the first week. How do you think that's going to go over the next few months, Paper? I mean, what do you going to do if this guy doesn't deliver according to your bar?

Art on his very worst day---even if his back is out and he has the flu--will be way better that GN on his best day ever!!  No worries.   ;)

Noory has been considered based on his own merits.  As has Ian.  As has George Knapp.  I don't think he quite gets that.  People think he sucks because he sucks.  As you belatedly found out.  Regardless of other hosts.

Back when Art was host I'd almost always listen to the first hour, and into the second hour for at least a few segments of most of the guests.  If the topic was of personal interest I'd usually listen to the whole show and go to work tired.  Lots of times it was interesting anyway and I stayed up for most or all of it.  If it was Dames or some other shit guest, I turned it off.

I expect it will be similar this time.

Thanks Tinfoil Hat!    I think you're right.  That check of his has blurred his view.  His atta-boyz fill in for the rest, I'm sure.  He had an opportunity of a life time to be able to host coast--it's a real shame he got so distracted from concentrating on doing a show that he's engaged in and is so star struck.  Let the dust fall where it may.   I really tried to enjoy him when Art left but must admit he has driven me nuts from the start.   Oh well.  Not everyone is for everyone.

If there is a show here or there that I'm not wild about, it won't be because the host is boring, stupid, lazy, not paying attention, or didn't prepare for the show.

I'm keeping that clip on my desktop, even thinking about it makes me laugh. The fucking click of an eye! I mean I ask ya.

This is a concept that's above the sardine's range ....
Sardine ..... un-employed by Premiere soon?
Noory may still want his ass kissed.

This exactly PB!

There's a difference between turning off a show because one is not interested in the topic at hand or a certain guest as compared to turning a show off because it is absolutely unlistenable.
There have been countless times in the past 10 years that I've been forced to tune out even when there was a guest on that I was really interested in. Dave's incompetence has the ability to make potentially interesting guests, sound mediocre at best.

Come to think of it....anyone remember the character of Eddie Mush from A Bronx Tale? Much like Eddie, everything Dave touches turns to mush.

George is screwed tonight. Hopefully Flipper will get laid also.

Interesting. It took him (them) two-and-a-half months to come up with the courage to return.
