Not to turn this thread into politics- since Norry at C2C "doesn't do politics" but what you said above is the first thing I thought of and wondered why the DNC and Billary staffers were so inept. Regardless of the truth their first response should have been "those (or some of the emails) emails are made up" and bring up that Assange is a rapist, the sneaky RNC, teenage hackers having fun, or, as they finally did "the Russians, the Russians" and a Trump-Russian connection.

If they would've had their media run with that story, and made a strong statement  from the beginning, it might have gone away or been lost to the attention of the "mainstream" public. Instead they flopped the initial response, tried to cover up, and it blew up on them.

For once Dave had a good thought then. (No doubt then he heard it from someone else.) The first response by the DNC and Billary should've been to question the veracity of the emails or at least seed doubt on them. Most of the media was pro-Hillary and if the emails couldn't not be properly sourced likely would not have run with any of them all; they did their best not to but, eventually had to cover. Most of the public has short attention spans and not interested in details or technical details and the story might have been lost or forgotten in the fast moving news cycle.
