Yes, last night I tuned in to the Shadow Rodent Shepherd of the Night, Dave Noorie.  Is it just me, or did he up his game by about 400%?  He actually conversed with the guest, brought up salient points when appropriate, and did his best to provide stimulating discussion.  Hmmmm, I wonder if Art's announcement had anything to do with it? 

My guess is that his new-found energy won't last long.

I wouldn't be surprised if he eventually ends up there.  He seemed to be pretty insistent, though, that tinnitus was driving him out of broadcasting plus I don't know how demanding his new academic endeavor is going to be.  We'll see with him.  I think it's more likely Knapp would pick-up a night on "Dark Matter" and dumps his few nights a month on C2C.

I've been noticing Noory has sounded more upbeat and engaged since Monday when the announcement was made.  It is telling that he has been playing Art Bell bumper music, when previously Noory's music seemed to be on a permanent five day rotation.

George was better when he stated as a fill in, and when he first became as host.  Not great, but better.  It always seemed like he was looking over his shoulder, thinking that Art would un-retire and take his show back.  That motivated him at least a little

The further along the show went without Art's return, the more George relaxed and the lazier and worse he got.  The less interested he sounded.  Each time Art made a move further from the show - like moving to the Philippines, or going from hosting on weekends to only hosting occasionally, there would be a another clear drop off in George's performance.


I quit listening when he was doing nothing but re-reading cue card questions regardless of the guest or topic.  And would ask a question that the guest had just spent several minutes answering.  Or would start in asking the guest the same exact questions he asked the last time that person was on.

Just worse and worse and worse.

Makes total sense that he's perked up - if indeed he has.  Who knows how long it will last, but at some point Art's show will be on, and so will George's, and George will have reverted back to the level he was at last week.
