Oprah for President?
Wouldn't her candidacy violate the controversial rider to the 19th Amendment, which, though objected to by some in the Midwestern States, allowed the 19th Amendment to go through? The so-called "no fat chicks" clause?

France....(Specifically Brittany)..Quiet, don't like calvados. People alright. Preferable to speak French, few speak English.

Speaking French doesn't get you too far In Brittany either. I found them rather belligerent about their quasi-celtic dialect. Nice onions though.

I haven't had much time to post or monitor politics lately, real world business to attend to. But holy Jesus, I see the red scare flared up again. It's like the left's version of "Obama is a closet muslim". The moral of this story should be that people should never, under any circumstance, buy into a media narrative whether it's on the left or the right. It does not reflect reality. A year or two down the road you won't even remember you bought into it because it won't be in the public mind because all it amounts to is a story waiting for some actual corroboration or action. That won't happen and what all this isn't is news.

Like you said, you haven't been monitoring politics, particularly Russia/Putin generally, nor Trump-sphere/Putin spacifically. Scroll down and see that Maddox show vid I posted (full hour) for a small preview of just a few of the many many threads-of-investigation currently under way regarding it all. It truly is a very good piece -- three discrete segments/story-lines actually.

This is worth listening to.  Gowdy talks about having attended a briefing from James Comey in which it was made crystal clear that there is no evidence of Trump or his campagne staff consorting with Russians.  But for now the Dems have gotten the attention they wanted from one news cycle. It will amount to zip.

It's just fake shit that no one will remember in two months other than some liberal conspiracy theorists. It's the same shit as "Obama is a closet muslim". All suspicion, no substance.

Who would pass your informed and expert standards to oversee any investigation? Name names...

Not being familiar with every lawyer in DC, isn't it enough to point out the ones showing up in the Fake News Media to shovel their disinformation?

I am generally skeptical about the Russia story since we're currently supposed to make dark inferences from meetings and contacts, many of which have normal explanations.  You'd think with all the leaking some hint of the content would have come out by now if it was prejudicial.

Nevertheless, Sessions is now the fourth person, by my not-too-attentive count, after Manafort, Page and Flynn, to run into trouble for this business.  Couple that with answers from Trump and Pence on the subject that seem strained and it smells like a real problem.

Not being overly inclined to conspiracy but still trying to concoct a scenario that might fit, I come up with some underling, perhaps without even an official connection to Trump's campaign, who either encouraged the Podesta phishing or took credit for it -- it wasn't some huge operation that needed lots of people -- and boasted about it to the campaign with enough specificity to make them nervous.  Yes this is pure worthless speculation, but they're acting like they're guilty of something and that, more than anything the press is putting out, is what's fueling this.

Indeed. It will amount to zip. I do expect them to try to broaden it though before it's all over, I would imagine that this sort of thing can be applied to more than the administration directly. I would imagine that McConnell is too entrenched to pull it on, but Paul Ryan ...

Technically, by Islam's patrilineal rules, Obama is a Muslim because his father was a Muslim, whether he think he is (he said on live tv in a famous Freudian Slip) or not. Islam Sects/areas differ on whether someone can change their religion or deny their religion (most Muslims say no and in several countries there is severe punishment for doing so.)

NPR actually had a story today on Muslim converts to Christianity in the Lebanon refugee camps (issues were can you convert, is the conversion truthful or an attempt to get asylum in a Western country, is it an attempt to locate Christian minority churches for targeting by Muslims, etc.)

Good morning MD! Did you hear the great news regarding Attorney General Jeff Sessions' Recusal today? And that's just the beginning of this new *RESET*. Now would be a good time to stock up on pop-corn, things gonna heat-up real quick, pop pop  -- wink-wink!  :D

You do realize (or maybe you don't), everything done in Washington DC is for politics.  The bullshit bullying of Trump and Sessions is done for political reasons, and his decision to recuse himself was done for political reasons.

What Trump will learn is giving in to bullies only invites more bullying.

I'm not sure it does any more than the Clinton ties with China or Saudi did. We hear aspersions and hearsay, but when it comes down to the actual reality of it, nothing ever seems to come from it. That could be corruption, I suppose, but it could also be that there was just nothing substantial or actionable there.

I think it's just the press making people look guilty of something. If I'm wrong, they're eventually going to have to come up with the goods. If I'm right, they never will and few will remember this in two months and we'll be onto some other narrative. I just do not trust the media any longer. They appear to have lost all sense of journalistic ethics and allowed themselves to become novelists. Well, okay, but the last time that happened we ended up in a war and gained the Philippines. Remember the Maine!

Nothing new.  The Marranos were Spanish Jews who ostensibly converted to Christianity during the Inquisition because if they didn't their property would be confiscated and they would be expelled from the country.  They continued to practice Judaism covertly.

I think Obama was just a bullshit artist working it. I doubt he believes in any god at all. I don't think you can actually believe and make it as far as he did. Imagine what you have to do in Illinois Democratic Party politics to get anywhere.

Let's not forget the most famous "maranno", Pope Alexander VI Borgia. It was a political term, mostly. Just like "Communist" was. Sometimes true, mostly not.

You would kinda-like need to see the video to determine that. I don't post many. I try to be selective, discriminating, but "in a good way". This is the one I was talking about, just to make it easy:

Rachel Maddow Show ~ Feb. 27, 2017
Trump-Russia connections
Full 60 min show -- 3x18 min segments

Haha Art owes his current bliss to that war.  But I would be more inclined to agree if Trump's answers I think at his first press conference and Pence's on Chris Wallace had been unequivocal denials, but they both tried inexpertly to dodge.  Somebody explain that.

I think you are right about his believing in nothing but he has an emotional attachment to Islam.  Remember the lecture he gave us about the atrocities committed by the Crusaders.  He never mentioned the atrocities that the Muslims had been committing for four centuries in their conquest Asia Minor, the Middle East and North Africa and attempts to conquer Europe.
