Yes and kinda.

I'm playing an interview I pre-recorded with Dr. Ron Mallett last night. I'm popping back in for breaks and will be back on doing open lines in the latter part of the show. So I'm sitting here with you guys and gals, staying cool. :)

Nice!  ;D

Happy you chose to hang out at bellgab for the show!  ;D

Dr. MD MD

So, in effect, slowing down spacetime with an artificial gravity field?  Slowing it down enough to essentially be going backwards in time? ???

albrecht

What I've always liked about Dr.Mallet is that he stuck with his childhood dream and passion and is still trying. Amazing. And a lot of hard work and study to get into a position to understand/develop and work on his project and idea. I hope he is the first backwards time-traveler and is able to help his dad!

Amy I would listen to this kind of talk every day. Real science is always more interesting than sci fi.

Great show. Great guest.  Enjoying it a lot

Welcome home, GS.   :).  I have to check out but Gravity can have my seat.  I think you are all getting the better part of the trade

See y'all later  :)

Yeah, his motivation makes his story much more interesting than other time travel speakers.

Dr. MD MD

So, is what he's saying is that we could send coded messages back in time but not physically travel back in time ourselves?  ???

Modern super-sensitive atomic clocks can detect a time dilation difference between distances as small as a foot.  Since time flows slower the closer you are to a big source of gravity like the earth, you can slow down your relative time by living lower in elevation, and vice versa.  They calculated that if you live to be 79, living a foot lower in elevation would extend your life by 90 billionths of a second.   8)

His brother Keith is a somewhat famous artist. Credit to their mother who raised them, and their sister and other brother, as a single mom after their father died so young.

Yeah, but has this been verified with an accutron?  ;)

Just as inspiring is he was able to channel that life-altering tragedy into a positive contribution to scientific knowledge.  Very cool.

I love that video of RCH wandering around some Aztec temple with the staff harassing him, telling him he can't use that contraption of his.

Yes but there's only one special person who can read the 'data'.

Interesting, zeeb. So living in Death Valley would theoretically increase your life span, so long as the heat and rattlers don't kill you off right off.  ;)

No not entirely. That would be a part of it.

He's a theoretical physicist. He's working to fund experiments. That would be one potential step to it. It's already been achieved somewhat with sending things into the future.

We'll talk a bit more about it coming up.

The important part is, he is motivated.

I want to get him in touch with someone I know. He's got a cool announcement coming up toward the end of the interview.

We will have all kinds. I'll go ahead and spill--- next week we'll have on Dennis Kowalski talking about cryogenics.
Spoke with him earlier today. He's also a huge Asimov fan. Has lots of great stories.

akwilly

I still think deja vu is some sort of time travel.

Good deal on landing Kowalski - he should be a very good guest!

It certainly feels like it. I'm interested in the idea of sending a thought back in time.

Not sure how it would work, but maybe with neural mapping we'll be able to capture action-potentials and 'send data' that way.

Could be totally impossible but fun to think about.  ;)

Yep, and we're already way ahead of those chumps living in the Himalayas.   ;D

Is this wear all the cool clothiers are swearing?

Dr. MD MD

I saw Interstellar but didn't really understand all the tesseract scenes though.

I used to get intense deja vu.  Not so much anymore for some reason.  But it always felt like a kind of time travel to me too, almost like I'd 'skipped ahead' a single beat, then a short bit later time would 'catch up' again.

Yeah that was one of my suggestions.  I've never heard him on another show but
he looked like an interesting cat. Not sure I buy into having my head frozen but
it should be a great show topic.

Zenman

I wonder if Mandela got deja vu a lot?

Many great athletes like Michael Jordan say that when they get in "the zone" time seems like it slows down
