So the opening music wasn't even finished playing and there was George eagerly informing us of the little girl in Florida strangled by a Burmese Python. 

No 'Gateway to the West', or 'Auff the Pacific Ocean' this time, a new record for George...

Ok, just listened to the replay of the beginning - he did do his regular intro before getting to the snake story.  The music was still playing in the background, though.

So he leads off with the snake story ('breaks out of an aquarium and strangles a 2 year old girl while she was asleep'), then went immediately to some snake expert 'on the line'.


George:  'Did the snake go after the little girl because she was the smallest prey in the house?'

Guest:  'Quite possibly'.

There remains the slightest possibility of overreaction... This is not GLP.  Why not wait until something unacceptable happens before bailing?  It's not like we are trapped here. We've been through a lot, and maybe I'm being naive here, but that was an unrelated different site.

I'd differ only in degree - I think there was/is a major overreaction. I never for a moment doubted MV's reason for wanting to sell. While you can buy domain names (or at least could not many months ago) at GoDaddy for as little as $2, MV knows, as do I, that having a domain name such as this one, has some greater value than a "generic" name - and good for him for having the idea, and snatching the name up.

But more importantly, I read an article recently on a major news website that said "time spent on the web" led to relationship problems. Now, I am by no means implying MV has family problems, but I can tell you this: a few years back, when I was in a comitted relationship, we spent virtually all of our free time, trying to spend time with one another, which NEVER included surfing the internet or anything web-involved. We enjoyed out time together immensely, watching movies on the couch, BBQing with friends, hiking, going out to eat, etc. But I can tell you unequivocally, that if I were married, my online time would be limited to when my wife was asleep, as my time would be, within reason, be devoted to her, and our mutual happiness.

So while I not implying MV hasn't balanced these factors in his own life, I do know that being an admin of board can be time-comsuming. One guy I knew had a wife and three boys, and it used to sadden me when he would actually complain publicly (by posting) about complaining he had to attend one of his son's Little League games, because he wanted to update his website.

Some months back, I setup a GNS forum on a free-forum site, not to replace whatever existed, but rather, as a place to meet in case of emergencies... nothing more. Unfortunated, I inadvertently chose to use phpBB instead of Invision Power Board, so maybe I'll set up a forum using IPB ONLY as a backup place to go, in case things don't work out, or in case of emergencies. But quite honestly, should this site be sold, I don't expect it to change much, if any. To be perfectly honest, we all handle "pressure" or "stress" in different manners - I personally would not let any PM/Emails bother me one iota - however, I also respect that everyone handles stress in different ways. My wish would be that MV stay on - but it's his life and decision, and he has an obligation to himself and his family to do what is in HIS best interest; not a bunch of members of a forum who meet here to exchange thoughts or ideas.

So in conclusion, I hope MV stays on, and can put the PM/Email bullshit behind him - on the otherhand, there may be much more involved which is none of mine, nor anyone else's business. So with that, I say, onward and upward! George Noory's Sucking cannot stop the forward momentum/velocity of those who can resist this force. Whether here or elsewhere, a George Noory Sucks forum WILL exist somewhere.

Once again - I was much more verbose than originally intended - but at least I recognize this pathology, and the reasons behind it. Maybe there's a 12-step program for excessive verbiage?

So MV, you have my support (which doesn't mean much).  I also wish to extend my best wishes to Starbite, who is obviously undergoing something very unpleasant. As for the other 3-4 GLP posters who continue to harbor ill-will towards "other-than-GLP" posters, while I generally am mild-mannered, in this case, I'll expose a human emotion: FUCK OFF AND DIE.

He was talking to his guest about our 'Democracy', and someone called in and said democracy was only meant for societies that had a quite small number of citizens, blah, blah, blah... George jumps and and bungles the quote that says 'Democracy is the worst form of government except for all the others'.  Like I said, George bungled that quote all up, then was struggling to remember 'what TV show' it was from.  Dude!

First, we do not have a Democracy in this country, never have, and the founders expressly warned against it.  We have a Representative Republic.

Second, that quote was from Winston Churchhill.  I think he was the guy that had a sitcom in the late 1990's.  Maybe George could have him on the show, I think he retired from show biz and now runs a surf board shop in Malibu.


Oh, and George, neither Iran nor Afghanistan are currently in the 'Middle East', it was the Taliban movement that came out of the Mujaheddin fighting the Soviets in the 1980's and not Al-Qaeda, etc, etc. etc...
