Can Noory pronounce anything correctly?

No

Dr. Bruce sounds like the offspring of an in vitro experiment involving the DNA of Harvey Fierstein and Gloria Borger gone horribly wrong.

Yep, and a last minute replacement.  Too bad he didn't have to go to Boston.

After listening to him some more, now I'm thinking he sounds more like the result of a horrific in vitro combination of Harvey Fierstein and Rudy Giuliani.

Zetaspeak

uh oh did he just credit Atlantis for the pyramids. Cue Juan Cena lol

Earlier this evening, somewhere in Hollywood....

I'm thinking maybe Mel lurks here at Bellgab once in awhile and read the thread comments in prep for the show, panicked and then bailed.  ;)

I hate this Cash cover of Dylan's song.  It is just wrong.

One of my favorite Dylan covers.

Most do like it and I love Cash as a musician maybe more than anybody else.  I love Dylan too.  It just doesn't work for me.  It sounds like country man trying to be a beatnik.

Luke the Drifter's Beyond the Sunset by Hank Williams is a great album.

Some might say the opposite was true with Dylan's Nashville Skyline album.  :D

Most of my fave Dylan covers were al done live by the Grateful Dead.  I once saw Jerry channel Hendrix's All Along the Watchtower and was amazed.  Loved his version of It's All Over Now Baby Blue as well, and Bobby's version of Stuck Inside of Mobile.  A classic rendition of Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues had Phil changing the last line to "I'm going back to San Anselmo, I do believe I've had enough".  ;D

One of my other fave covers that comes to mind was Clapton's ripping blues version of Don't Think Twice, which he did for Dylan's 30th Anniv. concert.  I don't know why he never released a studio version of that.  Also recently came across PJ Harvey's wild cover of Highway 61, which I enjoyed in its own way.

Well, Dylan was sort of a country man as he came from rural Minnesota.  I can forgive him.  I love rock covers of country songs and vice versa but Cash's It Ain't Me, Babe just doesn't work for me.  I like Cash's other covers of Dylan's songs just not that one.

Yeah, the songs aren't bad but his voice is just so weird on that one. I used to hear some of them on the radio as a kid and never put it together that it was Dylan until well into my adult years. It was the first album after getting into a bad motorcycle accident though. I wonder if his voice was physically effected by it or something?

Basically, his spoken word album.  ;)

Yep.  Some singing is involved but the spoken word is dominant.

I love Lay, Lady, Lay.  Who knew Dylan could actually sing in a traditional style before that?

He claimed that his "new" voice was the result of quitting smoking. People that knew him from back in Minnesota said that his Nashville Skyline croon was closer to his natural voice.

That was kind of a mysterious period, even for Dylan.  I wondered if some of that had to do with how it was recorded.  Btw Elvis Costello does a pretty good cover of I Threw it All Away from that album.

I doubt it. It was either as JJ said, closer to his natural voice and the folk stuff was affectation or this was in some way. Either way it's still good stuff. I think it just took me longer to fully appreciate it as much.

He poses the Big Bang question to this guest.  Give it a rest, Jorch.

I tuned in for like 5 mins. when Goldberg was on, just in time to hear the inevitable "Bruce, of all the stories you've heard, was there one that really stood out?"  Arrrgh, click, off.

I was so obsessed with his first 3 electric albums that it took years before I could even give Blood on the Tracks a chance, which is arguably one of his best ones.   ;)

The next Volume of Dylan's Bootleg Series will be covering "The Gospel Years".

I'm with you on that.  I would also add Desire as a great album.

"It's always the same, it's just a shame, that's all."

Appropriate bumper for Coast to Coast that was just played.
