Thanks! I've been listening via the shoutcast app on my Panasonic bluray player! Please don't change a thing. I think it's perfect with 24/7 Art and no Noory. I feel asleep and the stream ran for ten hours and I wondered to myself how much bandwidth that uses - does anyone know the calculation of a 28 k stream in one hour? I'm thinking 28 mb per hour, maybe less.

24 hours would be just over 253MB. 1 hour is about 10.5MB. Multiply that times hundreds of simultaneous listeners and you're talking some BANDWIDTH.

I was listening earlier and apparently Windows 95 had just been released and Art opened a line for "Windows 95" callers ONLY. I remember 1995 and was at a friends house who had a Compaq computer and was showing me AOL. It wasn't until 1996 that I started using AOL and the internet and dial up at that. So strange to hear that as if it was just happening and it made me think of everything that was going on in that year. I enjoyed that : D

I recall a few  years after that when Windows 98 was released Art would talk about it on his show and didn't want to upgrade, fearing it might not work as well as his current Windows 95 did on his '486 PC. 
I wonder if he ever upgraded later on to Windows XP?

I signed up to say thank you and I'm so happy to be able to listen to Art Bell whenever I want, its amazing! I mainly listen to it on my kindle at work. I found it typing art bell in tunein, not expecting much. I even skipped over fineart at first, whoops.

I started listening to this show when I was 13 in 1998 when dad listened to it. Then i moved to my moms and stopped for a year. Then I found it looking for a show to lull me to sleep. They were discussing hell and spirits. I couldn't sleep, but I listened to it as often as I could afterwards.

you come on turn on the radio and catch the end of an art bell show and THINK  he's back on the air !

that's what happened to me 2 weeks ago.

I came back from my allergy tests in san francisco and turned on the radio about 9 45 pm or so only to hear literally the last minute of some old Art Bell show. I thought I had missed him coming back on the air and got equally mad and excited at the same time. Then I went on my Mac and saw it was a somewhere in time repeat.

Funny thing, that one minute was better than 4 hours of Snoory on any night

I know someone probably posted this somewhere but is there a way I can get some of the programs on my Imac so I can put them on my Ipod so I can listen to them when I take my walks ?

I have about 20 of JC's calls. I kind of miss JC. He was so off the wall and I'd laugh so hard I'd be crying at times.

art bell accept no substitutes, though George Knapp is an acceptable fill in.

So listening some more today - two things I could tell that annoyed Art........

1 - Art would answer clearly and say "hello you are ON THE AIR" and they would often respond with something as if they didn't hear a word he just said. I mean, when you call the coast to coast and you hear Art say , "hello 1st time caller or west or east of the rockies you are ON the air", shouldn't you assume that you are on the air? Yet they would say something as if they thought they had reached the wrong party or they were shocked that it was Art.

2 - They would have their radio on and he was constantly having to tell them to turn it off ....LOL! I'll bet he got SO sick of having to ask that even though all of his listeners knew to have the freaking radio off when he picked up. But he was usually very forgiving.

I know George will cut a caller off if they say the least little thing offensive. Earlier I heard a caller from a pay phone say that he transposed a # when calling Art and that he got a phone sex line......I've heard George cut a caller off for saying something so "matter of fact" like that. I wish I could remember what someone said that was so MINOR and George cut them off and said "we can have none of that talk" but it wasn't even that bad! I was thinking, DAMN! Really?

NOT here it isn't ! I live 15 miles from Walnut Creek. It was 96 there and here today.

Right now it's 72 and tomorrow is supposed to be 94.

It always seems to get really hot in the SF Bay Area just before and after the Jewish High Holidays for some reason. I've seen it also get really hot around my birthday in April as well. We've had days of 103 here this past summer. I don't think the sun owns a calendar. It certainly doesn't want to move on to Fall. The weather here has been hot since Spring. We had days in the 80s in February locally. Can't wait for that global cooling to kick in.

So many of Art's callers acted like someone called them; like they had no idea what to say or why they called.

And that's what happened with truly open lines.   A bunch of dopes.    Now, with Noory, you have at best the same crop of fools (and probably an even-dumber bunch) "screened" to provide a truly dumb-ass bunch to make Noory look smart by comparison.

So question: I'm guessing that sometimes the stream doesn't have FULL shows? Some shows are partial shows just with interviews? I also heard some commercials yesterday for the first time since I started listening. I can imagine those would be a pain in the ASS to edit all of those out if they were recorded off radio.

Many of the recordings were probably from the later Somewhere in Time replays that were often cut down to 4 hours (including commercials) whereas in the 90's Art Bell's full shows were five hours in length.

It's hard to believe that's the web site of a Coast guest - it's done in WordPress - not plain html with tables - there's no star field background - no purple, green and gold.

But there is near endless scrolling.

Just today I was again struck by the varied subjects and the generally high quality of topics which AB maintained. Of course he could trash it up too. But I check the AB stream at least 4-6 times throughout the day, and the great majority of them are shows that cover subjects with at least a modicum of intellectual heft. It's instantly distinguishable from today's C2C. Now it's true that George in many cases of trashy "soft" subjects (I'm putting the Numbers Lady and Evelyn Paglini et al. in that category) is merely using the same guests Art first did. But George most certainly does not have the more intellectual subjects and guests that Art did.

Bottom line, George's C2C is a dumbed down place. Which we've said since he first put his butt in the chair.

Plus, many of the guests, i.e. Dr. Evelyn Paglini, were on first with Art - leaving him to explore whatever they had to offer.  sNoory is not getting anything new out of them.

the other day, i tuned in the fine art stream for a couple hours.  it was art interviewing this christian who believes in extraterrestrial life and is at odds with many of his fellow believers.  the questions asked by art reminded me why noory sucks.  i just tried and tried, with each of art's questions, to imagine noory approaching the conversation with art's finesse, gravitas, and imagination.  george noory is so woefully inadequate as an interviewer.  it really struck me as i was listening to art on this occasion.  very depressing, the juxtaposition between noory/art.
