Art Bell Stream! (No longer in service)

I liked Paranormal State.  It was dramatic and they at least knew how to tell a good story.

Sightings was decent, as was unsolved.  I remember watching it when it first came on in the early 80s.

In Search Of really was the shit.  I could sit all day and watch those, or really any paranormal documentary from that era.  Something about those 70s production values awaken something from my childhood.

But hell... which ones ARE believable compared to Ghost Adventures?

The last paranormal show I really liked was Sightings, before that Unsolved Mysteries, before that repeats of In Search Of... with Leonard Nimoy from 1970s.

Those three shows were the shit.

I think that a large part of what made that show special was the musical score composed and performed by producer duo Rinder & Lewis. They created some amazing sounds for that show. You have to view the correct versions though, seeing as how the show has been butchered through the years. No version, let alone the original is available on DVD.

yeah, after this block of area 51 shows we'll be cycling a random two or three week long playlist. sorry for the delay in responding to PMs, i'm the one who handles the playlists and i've been in the middle of becoming a home owner.

Oh man, I love In Search Of, that show was what got me interested in the paranormal as a kid. It's funny you guys mentioned it because I recently just rediscovered it and have been watching it regularly. A couple of people were good enough to upload the entire series including the original with all the crazy original music on Youtube.

Yes! Those youtube clips, I haven't looked at them in a few years, but I think that they are from 16mm source. The encoding on youtube makes it look bad on a big TV though. Someone out there has the 16mm original source and needs to share it with someone who can archive it properly! there was something like 6 seasons?

Unsolved Mysteries, here. For some reason any reenactment from that show scared me half to death. They were like mini horror movies.

YESSS!!!!

Do you guys know about the DVD sets that are available on demonoid?

Well, when Unsolved Mysteries went to DVD, instead of releasing it season by season, they decided to group all of the Ghost stories and put them out on a 4 dvd set, all of the UFO stories on another 4 dvd set, likewise with the Psychics, Bizarre Murders, yadda yadda yadda...

Anyways, they missed a lot of segments. Hours and hours of segments. Most of them Bizzare Murders and Strange Crimes sort of segments. Well, multiple users have uploaded 19 DVD's onto demonoid, literally days worth of unreleased Unsolved Mysteries segments. All hosted by Robert Stack and with the original, haunting music that has been engrained into more than a few of us...

They are easy enough to find on demonoid and have given me hours worth of joy and VHS-rip bliss.

These combined with the official releases are the shit. I must have smoked a quarter pound of weed at least, just while watching these.

Wow. I highly bet the shows still freak me out.

One of those Ghost shows once freaked the shit out of me. It is still so ingrained in my brain that hearing about ghost always brings that show and images and stories from it to my mind. Talk about being scarred (not scared) for life. I'm older now and not afraid of "ghost" but the memory of that still sends chills. Even the murder/kidnapping/crime/missing persons stories used to freak me out. It used to play here Down Under on Saturday evenings and I'd watch with a friend or my brother and I always had trouble going to sleep after that. Good times!

agreed. the one that still sticks with me is a nurse who laid down to take a nap during her shift being visited by multiple ghosts that lived in the hospital. that weird foggy framing they use.

That show is actually still on. It's on Spike and hosted by Dennis Farina.  It's amazing how that show just refuses to die. Robert Stack died a few years ago.

I've bumped into it on Lifetime with Farina, too.  But after watching a couple of episodes, I decided to let my great memories of the Robert Stack version live on unadulterated.  My opinion only, but I didn't find the new version anywhere near the quality of the old one.  Kinda like bringing in Noory for Art, only not quite that big a contrast.

I can also see the benefit of playing the shows consecutively to retain a sense of continuity.  Art, and callers, often referred to "last night's show"...

My iPod in my car just plays my collection of Art Shows in random order. However the 2004 shows from March to July have been playing in date order and it has been great listening to the chronologically with Art and callers often refering to last nights show or upcoming shows. I've almost felt as if I'm living in the past. Great way to Time Travel.

I am constantly reliving 'where was I this night' moments .. It is like time travel

Registered just to post a thank you to the stream operator(s).  Sadly, I only discovered C2C four years ago and thus I've not had the pleasure of listening to Art's older shows as good portion of you all have.  Thus, this stream is truly something wonderful for me.  Thank you for all the work that has gone into running it.

I hope they make another Star Trek series just so someone can cast Dennis Farina as a Vulcan

I loved the JC compilation. However, I usually fall asleep listening to the stream and it was darn near impossible to fall asleep listening to that. Too much of a whiney voice coupled with me laughing.

Can we start taking a collection to bring Art back on the air?

been enjoying the stream this evening.

also, early this morning.

thanks.

I've noticed lately that I have "Fine Art" streaming A LOT.  Good look on the site man I'm surprised they're aren't more people out there streaming such a great catalog... There were only like 2 shows I've heard (out of many) that I didnt like.  Thats the thing about Art man he seemed to always ask the things you wanted to hear and his subject matter was usually really interesting.  kudos bro  8)

Lovely Bones

Just wanted to stop by this thread and thank Linden--again--for the gift of this stream.  Knowing Art is available 24/7, that's such a blessing.

I did learn one disturbing thing last night listening to an 8/01 show.

I've lambasted Simple George right and left for the lame "So get ready for that . . ." line he uses all the time.  How do I get ready?  What am I supposed to do over the commercial break?  Will I be fully prepared?

Gosh dang if I didn't hear our Beloved Art last night cut to commercial by saying, "So get ready for that. . . ."

Somehow it sounded different when he said it, though.   ???

linden2k

Uploading another 23 day playlist tomorrow!

Scruff

Just caught a new ghost to ghost earlier on the stream!  G2G is my absolute favorite so this is like finding a $100 bill blowing down the street for me!  Is there a list of all G2G shows?  Wondering if there are more in rotation that I might have missed.  There was also an excellent show on monsters a few weeks back that I loved.  Any thoughts?
