College football on prime time Saturday night.  Or I should say over 3 hours of commercials interspersed with a little college football on Saturday night.  I swear there's a slew of commercials every freaking 5 minutes.  Now I know why I'm ready to cancel Direct TV, give up my college football addiction, and devote myself to watching "Columbo" on Me TV.  :

I'm right there with you.  As soon as I get back home in January, I'm cancelling our cable TV again.  I only signed back up to watch the final few episodes of Breaking Bad.  I cannot justify spending any money on the crap that's on pay TV anymore.  I love Me TV.  And I'm thrilled that they've added HR Puff 'n Stuff and Land of the Lost on Saturday mornings lol.    So I'll be back to watching Me TV, PBS, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime Streaming, and YouTube.

Yes, the quality is excellent if you can pull in the signal.  When I cancelled cable the last time, I discovered I still had a few basic channels plus all my locals channels, including Me TV, because they come through the cable since I still have my cable internet through them. I hate paying Comcast anything, but they're the only internet I can get where I live.

In addition to Me TV, we get Antenna TV, which is a similar retro channel. Not sure if you have it or not, but here's their page: http://antennatv.tv/   This TV is okay too, and I think they are all around the country as well: http://seattle.thistv.com/  We have a few more similar channels, but I'm not at home right now, so I can't remember what they're all called.

I've just left it on Me TV most of the time after hooking-up the antennae but I did discover one of the local stations carries ThisTV.  I watched a bit of the original "Outer Limits" last night on ThisTV.  Me TV really has my demographic nailed with their programming so I'm very happy with it.  Heck, I even like their clever promos which usually air at the front of any commercial blocks.  The "F-Troop" commercials are hilarious, with Ken Berry and his pratfalls.  Last night's Colombo episode had Johnny Cash as the guest "murderer."  I didn't know Cash had appeared with Falk on the show until last night.  It was pretty good and, of course, good 'ol Columbo still nailed The Man in Black.

Hey coaster hang in there.  I'm in a similar situation of continually needing to somehow step up and help my mom through several ongoing problems while I'm barely able to hold myself together most the time due to my own issues.  Sorry don't have any good advice but I know how you feel.

I'm sorry, coaster. I've been there with my mother, too, and it's impossible to relax until you have a handle on what's going on. Just take it one minute at a time and don't worry about being the rock for anyone else. Let them be a rock for you. You need that right now. I hope everything turns out well with the biopsy.

Thank you^^. Shes a strong woman. Shes raised seven kids, lost one, fought breast cancer and won (while breaking her arm in a fall at a cancer relay walk) while having emphysema and copd and a heart that is weak but never stops. I wish I was as strong as that woman is.

absolutely. I sent bc a pm after I read this earlier. and thank you eddie. it is five am, and within one hour or two, i know if i have more time with my mother, or lose her forever. bc's post was incredibly moving. i thank you all for your support. i know its inevitable, we all lose loved ones, and i hope everyone here just appreciates what they have. this is coming from the most miserable curmudgeon too.
