Speaking of ads, how about radio ads that have sirens in them.  Hate that when I'm driving.

Or songs. Scares the beezeesus out of me.

Even when I know I'm doing nothing wrong.

Guilty conscience?

I failed too. I promised myself I would avoid it after the cease and desist but it's like driving slowly past a car accident; you can't not look.

Anyway I've weened myself down to only checking it a couple times a day. I think I only posted in it once yesterday.

Hopefully today will be a post free day and I promise to only check it once in the morning and once at night.

Is there some kind of AA meeting equivalent? Can someone please sponsor me and check in with me.

MV perhaps if you started charging for us to check the thread we might not be so obsessive and in turn it could be a great fundraiser for the site.

The first step is to admit you have a problem.
Second is to realize you are powerless to change it.
Third is to apologize for something bad you did when you were under the influence of the quits thread.
Forth is to ask for forgiveness.

I was trying to bring this all together with a witty comment,  but I got nothing. ???
I think I need to find a sponsor.

1st step - check
2nd step - check
3rd step - ch.....

fuck it, I'm just going to go postal!

Wait a minute. We've had some positive news. Sort of.

If anything it has ensured that the thread will continue for a at least another 50 pages or so. Is that considered falling off the wagon? I have posted about a dozen times today.

People that sit in parked cars for more than 5 minutes. I go out to my car on my lunch break and there are people just spending their entire lunch breaks sitting in their cars. Playing on phones, sleeping, eating, watching TV. I went to the library to return some books-same thing, people just hanging out in their cars in a library parking lot.

Tornadoes.  In particular, the nasty EF4 that hit Washington, IL a couple days ago, less than 10 miles from where I grew up.  Particularly gut-wrenching are the Facebook posts about the suddenly homeless and missing pets. :(

On that note, why does there not seem to be just an oatmeal cookie?  Why must it always be oatmeal-raisin?  I like oatmeal, and I like raisins well enough, but why must I always be forced to eat them together in cookie form?

Yes, I live in Central part of the state and we had our share of damage, but praying for the folks in the north! (Washington's about 2hrs away)

Commercials with talking animals and/or babies.  The novelty has long worn off and they are no longer clever or cute.

To quote Galaxy Quest: Never give up! Never surrender!

Actually, I inherited the introvert gene and have sweaty palms in most social situations. All the cool people do.  ;)

And yet, when one resolves to stay discreetly away from others, they start coming to you.

The awesomeness is overwhelming.  Heh, I feel like that little bee girl in the "No Rain" video... who finally found all the other bees to hang with.

Possibly one of my favorite songs ever. I can actually relate to the lyrics.

My favorite line in any song ever is:

Is there a line that I could write
Sad enough to make you cry

I will admit, it's on my iPod too... I think my favorite song of all time has to be Boys of Summer. I know of no other song that so brilliantly captures a mood for me.

These song definitely don't annoy me.

Same producers sadists.

They need to be taken out.

Since when do song lyrics read like a pre-teens stream of consciousness?

Someone needs to destroy all the auto-tuners in this world.
