Whatever, man.  Demonology intrigues me and I've read enough to know that demons are real.  Remember the true Exorcist case,  The Haunting In Connecticut, the Smurl Haunting, the true story behind the Conjuring, stories from Malachi Martin and Ralph Sarchie?  You can laugh it off until it affects you.  I seriously believe my brother's schizophrenia was in part caused by demons.  I was skeptical of calling in a healer and now he's dead.  Odd things always happened around the houses that we lived in and I seriously believe my brother had an attachment.  He raved like a man possessed at various times in his life.  However, when he was normal, there was never a kinder nor more decent person on this planet.  He had a huge heart.

I'm not talking about crap like the fake preacher who used to come on C2C and play his 'demonic' voices.  Bob Larson.  That guy is a complete fraud.

I recommend M. Scott Peck's Glimpses of The Devil. Martin was a friend of his.



He confessed that psychiatric treatment is of no help to quite a few patients.  Other answers need to be looked at.  He tried to the best of his abilities to help certain cases and nothing worked until he decided to experiment with the possibilities of possession.  Once the patients were exorcised, they went on to lead normal lives.

I read People of the Lie around the same time. You might also like Thomas Szasz The Myth of Mental Illness. It's been discredited by the mainstream, of course but I could never really shake that there was something to his thesis that rang true. Anyway, the main problem I have with the kind of theory you're espousing is that it results in a ridiculous dualism that gets harder and harder to account for or explain. I'm not denying that people are having experiences but are those experiences really disembodied spirits?!

I'd like to hear your story.  I understand though if you don't want to talk about it though.  Some things are best left to the past.  However, if you do want to share, please do so here or on the supernatural experiences thread.  Maybe you've already posted about it already.  Just point me in the proper direction if so.

I understand your qualms and I sympathize with them.  I simply call them demons without the usual religious connotations that word implies.  Negative energies are another term that is popular.  I'll stick to the term demons in my everyday vernacular.  We really don't know what they are though.  What we know is they seem to feed off people's fears.

I'm not here to rain on your parade or pass harsh judgement. I've argued several times on here for the freedom to be able to ponder and speculate about non-standard topics because it seems to me that's what these shows are about. The other guy should just post his story. I really don't think Gabbers live up to their nasty reputation. Most are pretty thoughtful.
