Just saw this.  Holy shit.  Fuck her.  (And no, not the way Art did...)

Well, at this point there's no gain in being upset, I don't think... so don't sweat it.  I just wanted to explain why I'm indifferent to her pursuits these days.

Plus, I know people like juicy gossip.  Gotta keep those ad impressions going, heh heh.

Understood, and I think you presented this with the kind of tact and decency that someone like Heather wouldn't be able to appreciate.  But seriously: can they just fucking replace her already?!

Seriously though. Keith sent out an email telling everyone how to cancel their subscriptions within hours of him saying he had quit. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that people might actually cancel their subscriptions.

I don't listen live as much as I used to, but I still support the show and download the podcasts for when I don't have internet. Maybe at the end of the year I will reconsider.

I'm surprised it is still on the air considering they have lost nearly all the affiliates.

I had been listening to the shortwave station when I would spend time up in my woods. They don't even carry it anymore. Usually it is just shut down at, or nearly at midnight eastern now.  I tried contacting WTWW but received no response.
I liked the shortwave option, but didn't like the show. It was one of the very few non-Bible/Preacher English SW shows still broadcasting on it. Haven't tried to listen in a while. WTWW's website still has it on the schedule (sponsored by CCrane.) I'm guessing Bob got sick of paying, but maybe contact CCrane and find out what's up.

Affiliates never made them any money. The carcass of subs are all that's keeping it going. Whatever their high number was, it was more than cut in half when Art left and continued to drop before finally leveling out. I imagine they're somewhere in the very low thousands now, which, split among just a few people, is manageable I guess. Their music royalty costs also went down at the beginning of the year.

I know that the affiliates never made them money, but it was an listener pool that might stumble upon the show while scanning the dial. That, in the long term, could have resulted in the possibility of more subscriptions. Now it is just word of mouth with limited chance for growth.

The only reason I like to listen if I'm awake, is cuz I LUV THIS THREAD !!!!

Praise MV!

I agree with you in theory, but some of those stations had probably single digit listenership, and I doubt any of them could figure out how to work Paypal and download podcasts.

Oh, so Keith quit too?  So this is all Heather's racket now?  Maybe that's why she never got the firing she deserved.  Man, Art went to a LOT of trouble to set up this dumbshit with a radio show.  What the FUCK could she have done to make him think *she* deserved it?!

We can all bathe first...and promise to kiss her ass like before...would that help?

Oh, chefist. Your lips look chapped. Carmex needed.

Simple noblesse oblige is my guess.  He wanted to do something nice for his fans, turning over the show to a devoted following, and one happened to be right there, totally devoted and, until she took over, largely supported by this site.  There were a few murmurs of criticism here when she debuted on the test show, but I am under the impression most of what led to her being kicked off came from elsewhere.

While others prefer to see dark machinations at work, I think reading the whole thing as good intentions gone wrong makes a far more compelling story and, in my experience, a lot closer to reality.  I doubt anybody will know for sure but, if I were writing a book, that's how I'd write it.

Yes. I remember listening to the gabcast and I think most comments from regulars were supportive.

Here is the live show thread from the night of the test show.

The test show was a bad omen, even then.  Still hasn't won me over, I think I've listened to less than half a dozen shows since Art quit.

It pains me to even read that show thread. How excited we all were, thinking shit this is really happening, only to be where we are today with no Art. It breaks the spirit to read the thread.

Thanks, I'm glad somebody else remembers.  In a good story, the "hero" (with no moral judgment implied) is the one who undergoes the most profound transformation.  In this one, we are it.

Same here. Just thinking how much he had going, just to let it all go...

Look at how many members have left since that show.  Sad!
