I wouldn't go quite as far as that but I sympathize with you.

i just feel like future commanders in chief should know that they will be held accountable, criminally, if they send america's sons and daughters into war on false pretenses, even if it was not known by the CIC that those pretenses were false. the buck has to stop somewhere.

This alludes to the immigration laws basically stopping Jewish immigration in 1924 and after.

And I think you are right about that.  I'd sure like to have a president that does think the buck should indeed stop with him.

They will just pardon one another... Or not prosecute as part of a backroom agreement...same old same old

Immigration wasn't stopped between 1924 and 1964. In 1924, quotas were established favoring nationalities already here, and Asians and Africans were virtually excluded.  Then came the Depression and WWII and immigration understandably plummeted, picking up in the late '50s . In '65, Teddy Kennedy pushed a new law that opened the floodgates.

What about Regents VPs who get incompetent Presidents to sign?

I can't find anything that conflicts with the general statement, slightly amended.  The following lays out the general story.  I would change my statement by saying that for the most part immigration stopped during those years especially when the Depression came along and did not really resume until 1965.  There were exceptions but you get the general idea.

You are right.  It slowed down to a trickle but never completely stopped.  My bad.  I don't know where I heard that.  I should have checked before I made such a bold statement.

I am really going to go after the next talking head that says that.  Maybe I put words in their mouths saying that it stopped completely maybe they said it basically stopped.  The buck stops with me and I take full responsibility.

that's because anyone can be placed on the no-fly list, entirely without due process.  it's completely arbitrary.  i recall a couple years ago there was a journalist from cnn who did a story on what a load of shit the no-fly list is, and guess what... shortly thereafter, he wound up on it.  imagine that.

in the united states, due process is required before infringing on the rights of citizens.  i know the rest of the word and/or democrats have a hard time with that premise, but yeah.

They had a vote to end the blanket surveillance of the Patriot Act, brought up by Justin Amash (Republican, Michigan)
In Missouri, (R) Jason Smith, (D) Cleaver, (D) Clay voted to end the PA collection, 5 Republicans from MO voted against the bill to end the PA bulk collection.
57% of Republicans voted to preserve the Patriot Act, 42% of Democrats voted to preserve the Patriot Act.

I'm not as pissed about the Patriot Act as the nefarious laws passed to track money and assets under cover of the War on Drugs. And that they stopped printing currency in denomination over $100 to force us into eternally traceable electronic transactions.

Jack Benny filmed one of his shows at the Truman Library.  The president showed him a solid gold paperweight as they sat in his office and Jack was quite taken with it.  He kept holding it in his hand as they talked and he would periodically ask the president, "Solid gold?"  He tried to walk out of the office with it but Truman looked at him sternly and with a threatening voice said,  "Jaaack!"

I think maybe we should stop all immigration for a period of a few years like we did between '24 and '64.  Say it is assimilation time like we did back then.

As far as what Trump said, that could get him in trouble but I don't think so.  Things seem to slide off him.
Well, I'm convinced it might already be too far gone and that the 65 Immigration Reform doomed the country. But if the politicians had the will be would be a good idea to go back to a rational immigration policy that thinks of the country first and was based on demographics, allowing assimilation over time, and not  just taking any criminal or terrorist in for political-correctness's sake. At a minimum the border should be secured and the "refugees" not allowed in. Maybe a temporary "safe place" for the legitimate "refugees," primarily non-Muslim, somewhere? Guantanamo or a area in that region in the Middle East?

well, i think there's actually very little presidential precedent in this regard, right? it's hard to be sure what exactly would happen. depends on the circumstances, i suppose.

you'll have to be more specific with your question.

There have been a lot of Presidential scandals...no prosecutions...only a VP...Spiro Agnew...

The Donald doubles down with his "ban on Muslim immigration" until "our leaders can figure out what the hell is going on."

Ha! I love this guy!
