Most of the founding fathers were atheists (Franklin) and deists at best.  I believe Jefferson was a deist. Most were not Christians.

Need to study your history a bit more. There were a lot more founding fathers that were Christians.

The problem with morality and golden rules maybe that they change depending on who's making the terms of those rules. Atheism skates around this issue and applies some sort of Ultilitarian scheme, what does the most good, etc.

Actually this guy Matt has grown on me. He's representing the typical spineless attitude that people who proclaim themselves to be atheists take when asked to stand by one solid belief in something. He weasels out of the question and at the same time is empowered by Art who is clueless enough in the art of debating and frothing at the mouth for controversy and fireworks that he just lets Matt get away with it and takes his side.

How can you measure empathy, you would have to crawl into that persons mind to measure it, if they don't tell you, then you cannot know it, they have no "empathic essence" that you can measure, you have to take what they say at face value, and then if not then it doesn't mean what they say it means, the entire description sounds metaphysical.

I'm sure there is a more rigorous diagnostic definition but if I ever knew it, I've forgotten what it was.
