AT this point most of the important scientists are gone... perhaps a good science historian would make a good guest. Freeman Dyson's own son, George Dyson, has written three wonderful books on varied sciences, including artificial intelligence and - most relevant - the history of Project Orion, which his father was involved with along with geniuses like Ted Taylor, Jerry Astl, Stan Ulam, etc. People who led extraordinarily interesting lives, not the glorified Hoagland that Neil Dumbass Tyson is.

I hate these science guys, they won't tell me what I want to hear.

I agree on these points. It's unfortunate that such people have such influence on the thinking of the masses. These guys are so full of themselves.

Agreed.  Fun and interesting show.  Pretty good callers, some good technical questions from Art.  Seth as usual was a pro.  He's a good sport with all the speculative questions and you can tell he's passionate about the topic and science in general.  Thanks Art for having him on and delivering more great MITD.

No, not if it's conversing w the guests, because the guests aren't going to continue on his show.

Clay Pigeon developed a great crossover transition from Fabio's program on WFMU when they were put on in order, but it was just them talking.  Fabio's a DJ, Pigeon does a mixture of things, largely recorded street interviews; they had nothing else getting in their way.  Apparently it was just Pigeon's idea to get on-mic while entering the studio where Fabio was finishing up.

What's being suggested here would be nothing like that.

Thanks for the sites.  I'm not a space guy, but my first thought on looking at those photographs is whatever that is seems to be relatively low for Earth orbit.  Several shots look to have been taken from roughly the same altitude as the object and I see blue sky upward.  Don't ever remember seeing that view in any satellite photos I've seen, they all looked to be in the dark of space.

Second thought was from some angles, the object looks like the lifting body craft developed by USAF/NASA back in the 60s/70s.  DynaSoar was one of the projects as I recall.

As expected, tonight's show was very good. Art really knows how to talk to people like Seth. Seth was polished and entertaining, as usual.

Inspired by all the flat-earther talk recently, I'd say that the SETI Institute's search for ET signals using radio waves is akin to the flat-earthers claiming that the Earth is flat. Maybe not the best analogy, but they both defend their theories despite all the evidence all around them that clearly shows they're wrong.

I think the key difference though is that there's plenty of evidence which contradicts the flat-earth model, but no significant evidence that SETI is necessarily wrong - there's just no evidence yet that they're right.  And they have a ton more data still to collect.
