If you run something like SETI, you end up developing specialized technology to "solve" your problem. Does any of this technology have some kind of secondary use or value on the open market? For example does the tech SETI develops actually make good satellite-detection technology? Or radio-interception technology? Could I miniaturize SETI technology and make really good hand radios to listen to Art Bell with?
What happens to this technology-is it moth-balled or shared with other astronomy groups?

I doubt there's any special hardware associated with SETI, but I think they were one of the first ones (perhaps the first) to come up with distributed computing among internet users.  This requires further research.

AT this point most of the important scientists are gone... perhaps a good science historian would make a good guest. Freeman Dyson's own son, George Dyson, has written three wonderful books on varied sciences, including artificial intelligence and - most relevant - the history of Project Orion, which his father was involved with along with geniuses like Ted Taylor, Jerry Astl, Stan Ulam, etc. People who led extraordinarily interesting lives, not the glorified Hoagland that Neil Dumbass Tyson is.
