I'm thinkin he uses Brylcreem, he is old school.

You shoul really look into using some classic Space Age lounge music like Les Baxter or Juan Garcia Esquivel. Or are there some rights issues with that?

I would love that, too, but both Baxter's and Esquivel's were remastered and released within the past decade or so.  Whoever owns Baxter's catalog even had a website to promote new licensing of his old stuff.  So they're probably watching like hawks.

Tonight, we will delve into a web of conspiracies that trace back to Constantinople at the turn of the century with Dr. Richard B. Spence.

Check out the web site to familiarize yourself with the names and faces of these spies, occultists, and nazis we will be talking about.

I agree, that was one of the best guests so far for me. I ordered one of his books on Aleister Crowley's connections to British Intelligence, which they didn't have time to touch on. Fascinating stuff.

It seems Club 19.5 had their 'A game' in the thread.  I always hate when I miss out.  Just listened to the show and thoroughly enjoyed it.  I have to psyche myself up for Michael Cremo though.  Not because I don't like him, I do.  It's his cadence.  And...I imagine him looking at me with disapproval.  See!?...he's doing it!

Rossy is doing a great job getting guests. Hittin' it out of the ballpark.

We missed you. Barfly was naked again. It was bad. I liked the show though.

He's expecting a paper from you, a summary of the first ten chapters of his latest tome.

I wish I wasn't on EST so I could listen live and join you all in the BRAAAPs room. Going to try to take a nap one of these nights and get up for the live show.

'Scuse me, 'scuse me *elbowing my way in*  :)

Just now listening to RCH's interview w/Andy Weir, author of The Martian.  SO enjoying it!  Just wanted to pop in (and didn't want to find the original pages, I admit it) to say he sounds like such a nice guy!  RCH sounds deeeee-lighted (many giggles).  AND, a hearty recommendation to read the book, absolutely loved it.  I'm anticipating the movie will be VERY good, but with a Hollywood spin.

That's all, thanks for letting me post out of area.  See you tonight, braapers!   :-* :-*

The movie was better than I was expecting, especially in 3-D.  It kept me on the edge of my seat and had beautiful vistas of Mars.  The author took huge liberties with the opening premise, but even he admitted that at the end of the book apparently.

I rarely drag my habit-clad ass to the theater to watch a movie any more, but I'm planning on catching this in 3-D.

I wouldn't have any idea if the author took liberties, so it worked for me!   ;D  Thanks for the review -- I imdb'd it and it seems to be a hit.

Last Christmas (family gathering) I made an announcement (prefaced by tapping my fork on my Pellegrino glass to get everyone's attention -- seriously) that I thought everyone should read this book.  I really was not expecting to absolutely love it like I did.  One of those books you hate to see come to an end.  Happy you're enjoying it, too!!

I don't blame you.  My local theatre is good except I have to go to the next town to get there.  Prices are low compared to the big theatres, and I think there were only six people in the entire place.

I loved the book, one of the best SciFi books this decade imo. Weir is sort of a sad story though, he had tried to write and publish before The Martian and no agent would take him on. He didn't even bother submitting The Martian, he just self-published it on Amazon knowing that there is no way that book would get picked up by a publisher. It's a sad thing, the best SciFi is initially self-published today, which means the best stories are more or less shut out as far as the awards go.

I'm hoping to see the movie this week, I've been slacking on that admittedly. I enjoyed Hoagie's interview with Weir, and you're right, Hoagland seemed to really be enjoying himself during that one.

Morgus

Looks like Richard Hoagland has open lines tonight.

Just finished the Andy Wier interview... Really good...I wonder what Wier thought of that interview compared to others!  8)

Barfly better not call in on the night I will miss Richard's open lines!

I am not too upset about missing Art's show. He has really been doing a lot of shows on Big Foot, which is a subject I don't find interesting. But open lines... sigh.

trostol

BRAAP!!!!! i truly hope this is better then Art's show was
