I would like to thank some of you for introducing me to Kolchak because we didn't see much of that show in Canada. Not that I recall. Discovered two weeks ago on youtube and been loving it. I just hate the idea of Disney getting their hands on it. Depp could do great with it, but I just think Disney is going to make it lose direction.

As for X-Files, I am comfortable with the direction it is going in. Out of five, only 1  was a stinker, 2 were fantastic and 2 were satisfactory. I think we expect too much as fans.

Hmm.  I don't think I or many others would agree with this.  There were lots of great ones in the past, but maybe they weren't written by Carter? LOL.

Chances are, they weren't. The episodes with Eugene Tooms were written by Glenn Morgan and James Wong. Glenn and Darin Morgan, James Wong and Vince Gilligan were by far the strongest writers.

Carter can write perfectly fine mythology episodes, but when he strays from that and tries to do a monster of the week he consistently fails. Last week's effort was par for the course there. Everything was ham-fisted, from the evil bigot Homeland security agents to naming a Scully stand-in EINSTEIN. The man is not subtle.

Carter has been responsible for some of the absolute worst episodes. "Fight Club" and "The Jersey Devil" come to mind.

Again, he's great when he sticks to the main alien story arc.

PLOT TWIST: Those are all actually written by a think tank in Alexandria.

Man, you're tough on writers. If you were running Hollywood, we'd probably have lots of dead air or reality shows where we now have dramatic series. And movie theaters would be closing left and right. Who knows, maybe we'd be better off.

The final scene with Mulder and Scully reflecting on God and the state of the world was terrific and the whole episode worked on a number of levels. I'm not sure what the critics here are wanting and not getting. The show is delivering what it has in the past, assuming you liked it back then.

The final scene I liked too and the mushroom tripping but the rest was meh. I don't like the younger agents they were too predictable. The Isis tie in was done horribly too. Why were they convinced that he would help them? None of it made sense.

They weren't convinced from what I could tell but their job was to learn anything they could from him before he died. Presumably other agents were working different leads. Mulder was the only one who really thought they had a chance based on his quasi-mushroom experience.

Where the Homeland Security agents who locked the hospital down were coming from was confusing to me. I wasn't even sure they were for real, speaking as they were in a foreign language and acting fairly threatening.

Separated at birth !

I noticed this years ago, but honestly thought it was no big deal. I thought we all knew?

Yup. It was always assumed. Interesting about Hoagie. I wouldn't rule it out.

Anybody seen the trailer for episode 6? Pretty intense and revealing.

the trailer for episode 6

I don't get how there's only six episodes, and people are still willing to spoil it for themselves. Puzzling.

Brody

Largely disappointed that this wasn't one big 6 part story arch.

Lost it at Mulder's country line dancing though.

Yeah, that surprised me too. I was expecting maybe a monster-of-the-week or two. I really hope the last episode ties the series together well.

Same here.  I'm expecting it to not be too final, though, and it still leaves questions as well answers.  Of course, with The BellGab Bunch, questions, disputes, controversy, and all around general mayhem are expected for any situation.

Six is not enough.  Get with it FOX and Fox.  Save us from the rest of the refuse on the tube.

Yes, for me, episodes 1 - 5 generally sucked.  They are borderline self-parody.  Maybe 6 will make up for the other shortcomings.

It's been a while since I've so effortlessly basked in the presence of a show and made damn sure my ass was in the seat the moment it aired.

The same as an associate told me in a PM, I also acknowledge there's a large amount of nostalgia at play here.   I think there should be.

I'm enjoying the mini-series too much to criticize any flaws or components.

I'm on the merry go round.  I chugged the Kool-Aid.

I'm grateful it got the green light.

What would make me scream like a little Beatles Invasion groupie would be an announcement that a new X-Files motion picture was in the works and in the very first few seconds of the movie's teaser, we see a Bigfoot/Yeti in a Masonic apron acting as a guide leading Scully and Mulder deep into the earth via a Tibetan tunnel/cavern.

It could happen.

But if it stops with these six episdoes, I still consider myself lucky.  There's just so much I don't like that gets the slots now... cooking shows, singing shows, dancing shows, bachelor this, fat shaming that.   Too damned many of them.  Easy on the networks' wallets, but they turn my mind to butter just SURFING over them.

Monday night.

7 PM CST on FOX.

Ass in seat.

Yes, sir.  Absolutely!  Although, again as much for nostalgia as anything else, I'd prefer Friday night.  I still have fond memories of snuggling in my hiding hole, after a long week, on cold, dark nights and escaping this mundane world, into the X-Files.

Totally agree that X-Files is best suited to Friday night. Monday night has the exact opposite feel as Friday night and basically clashes with the show. I'm trying to remember which night "had no feel" according to Jerry on Seinfeld. Tuesday, I think. But Monday is the absolute wrong night, especially. during football.

I think we might get lucky. Fox is promoting the upcoming show as the "season finale" rather than the "series finale". It also looks like the stars are aligning well:

Thanks, SciFi.  Looking good to me.  You may now do the dolphin line dance to celebrate.  Rifle welcome.  Please refrain from discharging on the dance floor.

Holy Shite, 2 out of the 3 LG. They must all be connected by the "Golden Ratio" to make it true however. Has anyone crunched the numbers? Facial recognition software would be best I think, because birth certificate forgeries are child's play. We need disclosure project vetted docs and images, then we will know for certain. Perhaps Hoagie taught AB his hyperdimesional torsion field physics, and they are exisitng simultaneously in multiple locations. It's all in the angle of the dangle, from the ratio of worker bees to the queen, to the distances between objects @ Giza, to Cydonia. The Golden Ratio dictates ALL...

More Einstein and Miller great  ::) I'm really struggling to get into the X files again. At least there's no stereotypical Texan yet.

Sort of. Einstein is a more intense over acting skeptical Scully, without any of the likable traits. She just goes around laughing at everything and telling people how stupid paranormal stuff is. Scully was skeptical but not annoying in this way. She was sharp smart and actually had chemistry with Mulder grounding his silliness.

Miller doesn't even have a character he's said like 3 words, basically agreeing with Einstein so he isn't like Mulder at all, which is good I guess because a young Mulder clone would be unbearable, but he still has no character.

All they really do is get in the way of Mulder and Scully's screen time.

the_peeve

Just remember when Scully said "only if we let them"

This might be exactly what they wanted. Scully introduces alien DNA to everyone.
