The biggest problem with DBT is the need for an absolute commitment from the client. And it does take time, the longer the dysfunction the longer therapy will need to be, generally speaking. So yeah the point of diminishing returns is a very valid criticism. And since Falkie doesn't present as a danger to himself or others he would never be involuntarily committed to a hospital.

I do see one problem with the plan.  The $$$.  I can only assume that most insurance in the US covers acute care and doctors visits but probably not counselling.  I have always found it interesting how if I have the runs in Canada, I can show up to emergency and cost the system thousands, but if somebody wants to better themselves (say by following your advice for DBT) it would not be covered unless you were bad enough to be committed.


Just for fun, supposing that somebody were to want to actually follow your advice, is there any way to do so without breaking the bank?  If you were on... oh, say disability, would there be a way to get this covered somehow?

Medicaid would cover any type of psychological counseling Senda would require.  The assistance is there for him.  Convincing him he needs it is the problem.

As others have already pointed out, Senda is 63 years old and has probably had most of these issues most if not all of his adult life.  He believes he's a pretty smart guy and that everyone else is clueless, to use one of his favorite words.  He has anger issues.  Someone jokingly called him a Davebot.  He was furious and took his outrage to YT.  Someone suggested awhile back he stop eating frozen dinners because they're high in sodium, chemicals and calories.  He was outraged and did a YT rant.  George Noory suggested he clean up the background in his videos.  Senda was outraged and did a YT rant. 

At 63 and 400 lbs, he's quickly running out of time.  His future is obvious.  If he's lucky, he'll just keel over one day and it'll be over.  More likely, he'll become totally disabled and end up in a nursing home for his remaining days.

If Falkie decided to "supplement" his income by street begging it most definitely would be the government's business.  Medicaid, foodstamp and SSI recipients are required by law to report any income changes including "unearned income" to their case worker. Failing to do so would be welfare fraud.  The penalties for welfare fraud are severe including loss of benefits and possible jail time.

This thread gets in a self-reflective mood from time to time, as it is doing now.  There's serious talk about what could be done for poor old Falkie, when in fact the kindest thing possible is to allow him to remain safely in his delusion, while continuing to nag him so that he has at least some faint motivation to not hurt himself or others.  MV calls him a hoarder; Falkie responds by cleaning up his shithole and throwing out crap.  Is he moving at a glacial pace?  Yes.  Are the results satisfactory by the standards of any normal person?  No.  But without the need to show Mother Bellgab that she's wrong, Wrong, WRONG about his being a hoarder living in filth, he'd do nothing at all, and perhaps get evicted just like Kathy.

Falkie's problem is not going to be with the IRS.  As a welfare recipient he's not paying taxes.  He's on SSI, food assistance and Medicaid.  The rules require him to report any change in income to his social worker.  Any change in income.  They don't care where it comes from.  If he dresses like a bum, stands on a street corner and begs for money all day, that money will count as income.  And if he doesn't report it he'll be guilty of welfare fraud.  He could lose his benefits and possibly face jail time.

Jesus, you honestly think that the rules that apply to people working and paying taxes are going to be the same for those not earning and paying into the system? If someone is relying on the government it means you can hardly call your soul your own and have to dance to their tune or lose money. I can see a 'Falkie panhandling' video coming up shortly at your behest, and then the welfare people swooping and cutting his benefit down to bare subsistence.
