I don't know how someone has managed to screw with the title of this thread but it is pretty amusing to see it keep popping up on the recent posts.

Well, it's a mystery.

As in 'My Own Private Idaho', the film all about rent boys. Do they have anything else there?

I went to Pocatello Idaho several years ago on business.  The sales drone assigned to me informed me that Pocatello had three gay bars, but no strip clubs.

On the way back to the airport the next day, we were driving down a two lane highway, and there was another car on the highway with us.  "Rush hour," he said.

This thread's schizo turns are immensely entertaining. It can go from surly to sadly pensive in the course of a morning.

I am just curious - those of you unhappy with us, do you eat foods that disgust you or make you sick? Because that's what coming on this thread to complain is like.

All I will say to that is this:  the food on this forum is terrible!...  And the portions are too small!

Anyway, touche....

What a preposterous analogy.

Here's a better one: we see a dead cow lying in the street, and make a big fuss about having it taken away.  But a couple of bungie-smoochers stand at the curb and try to convince us about how much "potential" the carcass has and how we should all act positively and humanely in the hopes that it will become self-supporting and productive.

Anyway, quit complaining.  Your role model Falkie never holds this teasing against us; he always turns the other chin.

You have obviously never visited the new Gabbleplex, the magnificent steel edifice that MV has had specially built and which constitutes the HQ of his sinister media empire. He has Falkie working for him in the BellGab commissary. Just don't enquire too closely into how he puts the holes in the donuts...

I had read that as a dig at Shylock's Judaism, Kosher and all that. You sound like someone who always read the small print  :)

Thanks for asking aboot "The King's Speech."

Remember during their first meeting, where Lionel made Bertie recite "Hamlet" while blasting music in his ears so that he couldn't hear himself?  And when he did, Bertie was able to recite flawlessly, with no stammer?

So if that worked, why not just use it when Bertie makes his rallying speech at the start of WWII?  Why all the fuss trying to do it naturally?

Sorry, I only saw it once and can barely remember it. That sort of thing makes my teeth ache. I guess it's like when people ask why Hamlet didn't kill Claudius at prayer. Answer: because there wouldn't be a third act! It may not make logical sense, but it makes dramatic sense. Sort of.

As this has become the Shakespeare thread (fuck you, Falkie), I thought I'd post this. What could be a pretty dry discussion is livened up by those two bad boys Welles and O'Toole. The remark O'Toole makes about Garbo about eight minutes in, and Welles's reaction, is hysterical. Plus the shocked reaction of the two stuffed shirts.

Is this the right thread?

Don't have time to listen to the whole thing right now, but I can't find your reference at the 8:00 mark +/- a minute.

I can't find it on YouTube, but I remember seeing the clip somewhere of Richard Burton on the Jack Paar Show talking about playing Hamlet to an audience that included Winston Churchill:

The Director of London’s Old Vic Theatre had advised Burton before a performance of Hamlet, “Do be good tonight because the Old Man’s out there in the front row.” In Britain, Burton said, “the Old Man is only one person, and that’s Churchill. I panicked. But I went onstage and started to play Hamlet. I heard a dull rumble from the front row of the stalls. It was Churchill speaking the lines with me, and I could not shake him off. I tried going fast; I tried going slow; we did cuts. Every time there was a cut, an explosion occurred. He knew the play absolutely backward; he knows perhaps a dozen Shakespeare plays intimately. Generally you can’t keep him for more than one act. When the first curtain came down I looked through the spyhole. He got up from his seat and I thought: That’s it; we’ve lost him. But a few minutes later he appeared in my dressing room, saying, ‘My Lord Hamlet, may I use your lavatory?’ And he did.”

You can always tell a Yorkshireman in several ways. One is the almost mystical way they know to disappear off to the toilet when it is time for them to buy a round of drinks. Second, the multiple ferrets they keep secreted about their person., Thirdly, they like to tell you no-one ever had a harder life growing up than these he-men of blood and iron (see Monty Python sketch).  And fourthly, the way they tell you they are from Yorkshire every thirty bloody seconds.

Did I mention I'm a Yorkshireman. From Yorkshire. Other counties exist, apparently. But I'm from Yorkshire, me. I don't like ferrets. This 'round' thing? Explain please. What is it? Course we had it tough, waking up for work... (cont pp94)

Even Herakles couldn't get that place clean.

Wrong. Spent the day going through stuff in the living room and hallway and tossing it out.
A friend sent me the WABC clip & I have listened to John Batchelor in the past and don't care for him but while listening to him and Art I stopped the clip and told Kathy who is next to me that Art shows and stories kept you riveted to your radio to the point where you forgot to eat, go to sleep or and where you didn't want to go to the bathroom for fear of missing something.
I thank the friend for the clip.
I spent last night doing further cleaning and making spaghetti until 430 am and heard the tail end of Noory's Ashkasic records show. I was amazed that cats have a Ashkasic records according the guest and at one point George made a joke and laughed at his own joke, something that sounded dumb and something that my late friend Glenn used to do and which were seldom funny.
Art rivets you to the radio or device.
Noory seldom does.
That's the HUGE difference between them.
Art has his audience and George has his and I doubt that Art will knock George off the air, at least in the short run, because its going to take time to ramp up the new show & because there are still people who have NEVER heard of Art Bell, while just a few days ago, I had people notice my shirt and begin talking to me and said they listen to Coast and when I mentioned Art's return there's a blank, look on their face. They have NO idea who he is. Their Coast experience is with Noory.
I took my Imac to the Apple store and their restoration didn't work and I return it on Sunday & when talking to the manager about re-scheduling he said :

" You come in here a lot and hang out. I remember your face and the shirt. "

He was talking about my conspiracy expert shirt.

I will do a video on the KABC today and its like old times listening to Art at 2:00 AM in the dead of night with the light of the Ipad piercing the darkness in here.😀😺😃

The key here is "according the guest".  When people make things up in order to get attention and sell books, like, say, Akashic Records, it's easy enough to extend it out for an audience of, say, cat ladies.  So nothing to be 'amazed' about.

I think you are right about the 2 audiences.  I don't think there will be much overlap, but I also think George's audience has shrunk so small that any deserters will have an impact.  George clearly thinks so too, thus the panic and dirty tricks.  Art said he already has 20 stations that will carry the show - guess what happens to George's show in those regions?

How can you turn your back on George like that after all he has done for you? Will you say all this in your next video?
