The biggest problem with DBT is the need for an absolute commitment from the client. And it does take time, the longer the dysfunction the longer therapy will need to be, generally speaking. So yeah the point of diminishing returns is a very valid criticism. And since Falkie doesn't present as a danger to himself or others he would never be involuntarily committed to a hospital.

No, not in any dramatic way. Just a slow decline until he has a heart attack and lives what years he has remaining to him as an invalid. Probably in some horrible place for the terminally ill and destitute to drift off where nobody has to look at them. That's the reality he is facing.

When I was in grad school I did some editing and word processing for an old guy who was working on an advanced degree in astronomy. He had nice, neat, orderly private quartering, just with on-site assistance. A woman I was trying to get to know a lot better prevailed upon my better angels to do it.

I know Falkie is a space cowboy but that is where the comparison ends.

I've said it before but I doubt Falkie has any interest. He needs therapy, particularly cognitive behavior training and specifically DBT, Dialectical behavior therapy. It isn't fun and it isn't easy; but the results are astounding.

I can just imagine the place...a real state run dump, with maybe some undocumented brown skin, non Caucasian orderlies. Pre-chewed vittles, plenty of meds to keep the "residents" quiet, ahh I mean happy. SLOB-O sits up in bed as they lift him out of the stinking crusted sheets, his festering bed sores oozing puss, with one of those pneumatic lifting thingys they have in hospitals.  Dump his fat ass in a wheel chair as they roll him into the "activities" room and they play MSNBC and Oprah

Between changes they just spray him down with Raid for the flies and a disinfectant spray for the germs and stench.  He tries to mumble but the massive stroke won't allow it to make any srnse...not much of a change there. They push him outside on "nice" days to roast and sweat his balls off in the blistering California sunshine. The birds frolic and bathe in the small puddle in his lap that is his drool.  At nite the "staff" search thru his belongings for any $$$$ and or valuables, but he has none...so since they are unhappy with that results they will just violate every hole in his still and paralyzed fat form. If we closely look at his huge face which contains more Chins than a Beijing phone book, a single tear slips from one of his crossed dull eyeballs...as he thinks to himself, 'this is where it ends for me the once great and powerful flackie...at least they could have slathered me with some of my beloved mayo'...
