I get a good laugh when Noory refers to Richard C. Crazy as the "Science Advisor."  That tells me all I need to know.  ;D

Yorkshire pud

I have a confession; Long ago when I was a little more young and naive, I actually thought Dickhead was speaking from verifiable peer reviewed scientific discovery...Oh the shame! You cannot fully appreciate the crushing guilt and overwhelming self loathing I had from knowing I'd believed him...

Oh yeah, I'm an alcoholic too, no big deal*.  :)

dick tax - the amount of energy wasted positing bullshit that RCH insists is true

fucking dick

I thought the dick tax was the subscription fee to be part of the Enterprise Conference?! I have a theory on why Richard C, Hoagland insists on using the "C"... So his initials will have the first three consants in his first name... As in RiCHard.

Unless there is a Richard Hoagland who is a con man/ charlatan/ international scam artist who was having his reputation tarnished and insisted that Noorys straightman put the C in his name to avoid confusion?

astroguy

I think it makes him feel more important.  More letters/words/etc. in his name 'cause he doesn't have any degrees.  Maybe the "C" was his grade in science class.

It's kinda like many gay guys -- most who have commonly abbr. names like "Jacob" -> "Jake" or "Robert" -> "Rob" will insist going by their full first name.  I wonder if the same is true with crazy people with middle initials.

Though, I, too, sign with my middle initial ...  :o

The 'Dick-wad' hasn't any letters behind his name, as in credentials .......
I always thought  the 'C' was for Con-man ......

It's simpler. There's a Richard Hoagland who's a US diplomat.

Thanks for the information, Expat... "the more you know"... I'm sure Richard E. Hoagland wouldn't want to be mistaken for the Hoagland we all know and (*cough, cough*) "love".

RCH is not the same because George is the host NOT ART BELL. Art should come on to release the KRACKEN.

Hi, gang. I'm new to the group. Saw the post re RCH being absent from the thread for quite a while and am not surprised! I drank a little bit of the kool aid back in the late 90s when I had him on my radio show, but even then I proposed a Terrestrial Test of Artificiality in the Cydonia Geometry. Basically the idea was to select a desert area on Earth with geological formations similar to Mars and see if any showed seemingly geometrical relationship like the ones he claims are on Mars. This, of course, assumed similar geological processes on both planets. My gut feeling was that, given a certain minimum number of reference points, a relationship could be found based purely on chance. He said he loved the idea, I told him to run with it, and that's where it ended.
I've wised up since then, although I still find that he can be entertaining.
I look forward to visiting here often.

the above satellite image (in canada) is of an entirely natural formation in canada.  if something this impressive is possible through the randomness of geology, then i'd say you can find pretty much anything you want in geological photography given enough photographs.

welcome to coastgab.  post often.

The follow-up to my first podcast on Face on Mars (part 1), Episode 60, The Face on Mars (Part 2), has been posted.  This one addresses more of why this is pareidolia, some image analysis by Mark Carlotto, other faces, and some of the different conspiracy claims.

Same thing happened to me. One of the first times I heard him was when the comet elenin passed by and he called in saying something like 'it definitely it is not a natural thing. the geometry of the thing is too perfect, it's clearly a spaceship' and went on and on as if there was no doubt whatsoever, and anyone who thought otherwise was insane. The Snorge hadintroduced him with a few different titles, some involving the acronym NASA, and I thought the guy was for real. I got taken in, hook, line, and sinker.

Remember these pronouncements ?

Hoagland said that Obama would announce life on Mars and then the one when he said that the event tv show was based on real events and that the backwards " E " in the shows lettering meant that it was the truth ?

As found on the www.ufowatchdog.com/hall_of_shame.htm website

Constantly cites anonymous/unverifiable sources. Has worked with Robert Andrew Franzone-AKA 'Ghostwolf'. Thinks the Face on Mars, Old Navy retail stores, Freemasons, NASA are tied to global conspiracy. Explains everything with 'hyperdimensional physics' and '19.5'.Promotes UFO hoaxes and other paranoia. Suffered heart attack-claimed it was assassination attempt. Received research grant from Joe Firmage, reportedly gave ZERO in return pocketing cash. Told researcher in Washington D.C. to leave area as military was going to nuke it. Has claimed that NASA is ran by either the Nazis, the Magi or the Freemasons-he just can't decide which. Continually begs for money to support his 'research'. Some ask what happens to men that were once considered brilliant...look no further. SEE: False Europa Claims and Enterprise Mission. Also see Hoagland's claims of howitzers and Nazi signs on Mars, see Space.com article giving a bit of info on Hoagland's and his so-called science medal award. Also a mathematics professor's analysis of Hoagland's D&M Pyramid.

Don't trip on your own mind Richard!!!

I'll be doing podcast episodes in the future on the pseudomath in Cydonia, Face on Mars, John Carter = real, and Nazis thought they were from Mars.

Yep. I thought he was legit for a moment.  I also remember him saying the comet could be a spaceship.  I recall a caller a few months back asking him about what he said and Hoagland went nuts.  Started yelling, denying he ever said it, and babbling on about it.  The caller continued to challenge and was cut off by Noory.  The caller wasn't rude either.  Just was sticking him out and he didn't like it.  Screw Hoagland.

It's a universal thing when the Emporer is shown to be naked....

Off topic but one of the circus acts from a couple or s years ago is some bloke who alleges his father was in the CIA, and this guy as a boy was recruited with other kids and genetically altered so he was not only super intelligent but super super strong..as in him and twoo guys could lift a Abrahams tank between them!
Anyway, there is a YT video where this guy (who it's fair to say looks as if he's been on the recieving end of numerous steroid injections) is accompanied by his good friend on a stage and he's retelling his story; A woman in the audience stands up and asks a question; the audio isn't clear but she basically asks if he can prove what he claims to have done (Seems reasonable)..the friends mood changes like a switch, and spends the next two minutes essentially brow beating her and almost accuses her of treachery in posing the henious question in the first place! She meekly sits down without having her question answered.  :(

I read the kindle version of Cronkite by Douglas Brinkley, from the library. It was OK; nothing great.

Anyway, it's long - the book has 832 pages and there is just ONE MENTION, very peripherally, of Richard C. Hoagland where he's quoted. "'Walter and his guests discussed the epochal events evolving a quarter of a million miles away,' CBS Science Advisor Richard C. Hoagland recalled, refering to Cronkite's elevated chair as a 'megalithic throne.'"

I missed the first half-hour last night, but the rest of it was fairly entertaining. Unfortunately he was the victim of his own habit of going off on tangents -- despite JBW reminding him that the clock was ticking at least twice, I'm still not sure we got the payoff of his story (which should have been "So finally I pulled out a 500 peso banknote and the security guard said 'Oh I see you DO have a permit after all, sir. Welcome to Chichen Itza' ")

Hoagland.... what a drama queen.  I think I'll start calling him "Buffy" Hoagland.  ::)

Morgus

Hoagland last night seemed to be on to whine about some upcoming convention event that he was originally scheduled to appear at for a 2hour presentation and was dropped all of a sudden.
He was wanting all c2c listeners to email the convention event promoter to get him a 2 hour spot at the event anyway...

I don't know why I'm at all surprised at this naked extortion attempt by Hoagland and his life-partner in chicanery - it's what they've done for 25 years. They don't even attempt to hide their greed. If Hoagland and his mistress of print had lived in rural England 250 years ago, he would have been a highwayman, and she the innkeeper's daughter who drugged, robbed, and if need be, perhaps even slaughtered the unwary traveler. And they'd have written their own romanticized and self-aggrandizing poems and folk songs. A poem very Alfred Noyes-like, such as "The NASA-man", or a song like "Whiskey In The (Soul-Generating) Jar (On The Moon)",

When I turned the show on the first voice I heard was his patented Hoagland whine... and what was he doing? whining about that conference that he didnt send his crap in on time for or whatever the hell happened.  Seemed like even Wells was a little annoyed.  I forget what he said but right as he cut  hoagie off for a break he said something to the effect of: when we get back you can drone on and I'll just shut up.  thought that was funny.

Just wanted to answer the topic question.
