So, you didn't die and you posted to rub it in, huh?   :)

Nahh, already had five heart attacks in the 1990s (one onstage at Bob Kevoian's nightclub), had three angioplasties and four stents so I think I'll be around a bit longer but thanks for your good wishes! 😀

Hey all, I know I haven't posted much but have been lurking again because I just had a quintuple bypass open heart surgery (don't do that if you don't have to) and I just wanted to thank ALL of you for keeping a smile on my face over the past week, not to mention the past four months or so. I mean, this shit is GREAT, better than a movie!

Looking forward to convalescing while reading bellgab and can't wait to see the shit fly one way or the other regarding Art's "impending" appearance on MitD!

Glad you made it PK. Here's to good health bud.

Did they use the leg vein (GSV), or LIMA (ITA to LAD) method?

So have you quit smoking yet?  :)

PKaiser

My father had two open hearts in the '80s and '90s and it is remarkable how far things have come. He had a scar all the way down both legs from them taking those veins but I have a 4" scar now where they took a piece of mine.

All the way down both legs??? How many attempts did they do for your father? They certainly harvested enough from him.

So then GSV method, I presume.

Umm, cigarettes? Yes, July 26, 1993, when I had my fourth myocardial infarction. I looked up at the sky and said "okay! I get it!"

Yes, although I have been so out of it I know not the technical term.

My father's first was in 1981 and the second in 1990. It's what they did back then. They tried a quadruple in '81 and a quintuple in '90 but they all didn't "take." I hear that's a thing of the past now too.

From your fingers to someone's ear! I hope he does, but what the hell will he say? Will he ignore all this previous stuff and just have a guest and host in the amazing way he does or will he confront it? Will he let himself open to open lines?

Tantalizing, simply tantalizing.

Good questions. I suspect he will talk a bit about it, but he'll want to focus on the show. Yes I think he'll eventually do an open lines show.

It's funny, I used to care what Bell Gab said about me, but even when I was doing the show people on here said "it's just not the same" or "the same lousy old Guest's" or the old standby "he sounds drunk" or " he must have Alzheimer's", so it's not like you seemed to enjoy it when I was on the air. For that reason I can't get very worked up about wether you care if I do any more air work or not because as nearly as I can see you don't like much anyway. In that same spirit it's really hard to take any comments on Heather seriously.

I do come up here every now and then to see if anything has changed, I am never disappointed.

Art

Art,

I am trying to think of what question to ask Magic 8-ball since I have pulled it from the mantle downstairs to assist me in listening to the Richard Hogland Show.

I am not hating on you, I would actually love to hear you on-air with an impromptu open lines, scheduled guest or even a pirate radio DJ for the night.  Whatever floats that sailboat with the in-board engine you want to rock out on a circumnavigation of the globe ala Magellen or etc, only you do it.  Or something, I think I'm on my sixth or seventh whiskey and coke over hear...

I have the question!  Here it is (believe it as you wish):

Q:  Will Art Bell be on the "air" in twenty-four hours from the thyme of this post?

A:  YES!

I even have photographic evidence of the answer, although there is no record of the question asked.  I do hope you "step" all over whoever the heck broadcasts after your regularly scheduled time-slot, sir!

Hey PK, had no idea that you were having difficulties in life.  Glad you are back...  'pologies for the "BallGagger Welcome" I attempted (#sorryNotSnorry, heh).

Stick around, willya?  I still hope to wrangle all the malcontents around this place into a BellGathering someday.  There will be a Gin-Fizzy on my tab at the bar (just one, mind ya) for you when I accomplish this Promethean task.

I miss what is going on 'round hear fairly often, due to inattention or just not stopping in.  Just today, before I attempted to bake a cake, I spent a few hours (years?) in a traffic jam caused by a bank robbery on the other side of town, then got home and instead of drinking I dug up all the dandelions I could find in the back yard, then contemplated working, ate something, actually worked a bit (not nearly enough), gave up and bought a pint of whiskey and proceeded to bake a cake, drank, cooled the cake, drank some more, posted retarded shit here, drank some more, posted more, iced the cake, and posted more fun stuff (I'm semi-caught up on the BallGrabbenings, naow).

I just realized it's been "tomorrow" for like seven hours...  This crap don't let up does it?

To deal with that, I shall again retreat to music, blessed music.  This one's for you, along with a Budweiser (US not Chzech) if you don't like the Gin Fizzies:

To keep it topical:  I haven't been able to keep up with the latest Artistic shenanigans (Happy Snake Saturday, the radio claimed 'twas today, but I thought today was a Thor's Day a full weak before the actual Saint's Day, I digress) and celebrate earlier than the amateurs will on Saturday, um...

I'm confused.

Art said that when he had pneumonia it was difficult for the docs to see it due to the extent of his COPD.

So, unless Art has had pneumonia sometime after March 5 this makes no sense.

COPD?

My God that is a horrible condition.

My wife has been a nurse for years on a pulmonary unit and she says that the final years or months of someone dying of COPD are sad indeed. It is a slow, lingering death where in your last days and weeks you are literally gasping for every breath until death.

Sad to hear about that Art I wouldn't wish that disease on anyone.

Man, the last five years of my life have been incredible, it's my plumbing that won't cooperate!

Thanks for the invite, hope to take you up on it sometime when you get the gathering together.

EDIT: I really appreciate the tunes!

You know, I don't get Art's fascination with coming here and reading nasty things about him then blasting off about it. I'm old enough to remember the glory days starting in the early 90s when there were no forums to worry about. The show was growing, Art was in his prime and the topics were new and totally interesting. BUT the same thing was happening this time; the show was growing, he was stealing affiliates from the Noorster and although we have had 20 years of the same topics on the radio when you heard Art's voice on the other end it just gave the topic more credibility almost by osmosis. I was SO EXCITED that we were gonna clean Norry's clock (I am an original Norry hater btw) and was so depressed when it all fell through. Yes, life goes on, but without that voice talking about those things it's just a tad less interesting....

Well, at least you can listen to the torrent files... still better than Noory or Heather.

You got that right.

I don't want to come off as someone who hasn't a life unless Art is on the air, but I was predisposed to paranormal things from early childhood. Mom and dad were huge UFO believers and had some things involved with Blue Book and when I was a teen we lived in a very active haunted house which nearly drove my mom to the funny farm. It was so incredible to hear topics such as those discussed in a rational way by someone who sounded like they had a completely open mind, something unheard of back then. I just don't understand why Art would worry about a bunch of us here giving him the business when ALL other objective measures pointed towards great success with the new show, critics on a forum be damned.  Makes no sense....
