I am wondering how COPD is diagnosed?  Is there a definitive diagnosis or a syndrome that may or may not be the disorder? 

If my doctor told me my cholesterol was a little high could I publish here that I have a heart condition?

I am also thinking of Janet Reno, who told us in the 1990's, after all the criticism she got on WACO, that she had cancer (trying to elicit pity).  She said that at other times when she did things that caused public criticism.  As far as I know she's still around and I'm not sure how the cancer has progressed or regressed. 

It would really be sad for a radio guy to be coughing and wheezing while breathing all the time.  If I had that condition I might decide not to go on the air at all, knowing that my audience would be listening for signs of the disorder.
