Oh Lord, here we go again.

No, C! I don't want to be that guy!

Perhaps you can explain to me what made you react that way? I am very new here and was just making a comment, not trying to start some shit. You've been very friendly to me so what did I say?

EDIT: I just had a very wise bellgabber (you know who you are-thank you!) pm me to let me know what they thought that all meant, and I must say I really didn't want to open up a can of shit with that comment.

Damn, still gotta get my "sea legs" here, lol.

While you have been gone...

We had pages and pages of speculation. Then it would die down only to be sparked again. lol Pages and pages. 100's of pages.

We all process it in our own time. Me? I just think he's an old man who started the new internet thing on a lark, and when shit got real (stalkers, grind of doing the show, ect.) he fled. Am I going to miss him? sure! Do I think it could have been handled better? Sure! But am I going to spend too much time wondering why he left? No. But I've already processed it.

Sorry for not respecting your "newness" to it.  :) We all need to grieve in our own way.

I understand completely and that may be the best explanation I've seen about the whole thing, makes much sense.

Thanks cweb!

You know, I don't get Art's fascination with coming here and reading nasty things about him then blasting off about it... I was SO EXCITED that we were gonna clean Norry's clock (I am an original Norry hater btw) and was so depressed when it all fell through...

Quote from: PKaiser on March 10, 2016, 09:21:55 AM
... I just don't understand why Art would worry about a bunch of us here giving him the business when ALL other objective measures pointed towards great success with the new show, critics on a forum be damned.  Makes no sense....

Before Art made up the stalker story and quit, everyone on this site had only positive things to say about him and the show.  Other than a rare comment here or there, those who thought otherwise kept it to themselves.

The real question is whether Art really ever came here for anything other than curiosity and show promotion.  He says he's a 'BellGabber', but I'm not sure he's ever posted on any other threads

So I'm sitting here drinking coffee thinking about which shows of Art's MITD run were the best ones. In my view, Dr. Dvorak and Neil de Grasse Tyson were classics. Discuss.

COPD?

My God that is a horrible condition.

My wife has been a nurse for years on a pulmonary unit and she says that the final years or months of someone dying of COPD are sad indeed. It is a slow, lingering death where in your last days and weeks you are literally gasping for every breath until death.

Sad to hear about that Art I wouldn't wish that disease on anyone.
I feel really bad about Art's condition. My late husband suffered from COPD (he had a number of other health issues as well) I have a friend who was just diagnosed with it. Its not a funny disease to have; its is a very serious condition.
Those who are making fun of Art's health problems need to stop

I favored any show that brought credibility and some science or solutions to the table. The interview with Dr. Dvorak was smooth and informative all the way through as was Neil de Grasse Tyson. Good call.  I like to walk away at the end of a show feeling I have learned something.  Here are some personal favorites that are still relevant and will be for years.
*Peter Davenport on the passive array system that will once and for all demonstrate the physicality of UFOs (a solution) plus new cases every show. However, don't get him started on the "write it down" kick.  He needs a "Roswells" equivalent.
*Dr. Klatz and anti-aging medicine was balanced and worth it just to hear Klatz agreeing about the state of the health care system. If you want to get to the edge of politics and contemporary issues, this is the way to do it.
*Steven Starr  People on the forum claim they like to be scared. Why not have it be of something very tangible. The Steven Starr the global thermonuclear war effects show did just that. Its bound to be a classic as I don't think the nukes are going anywhere soon.
*Dr. William Forstchen - EMP effects for the same reasons as above
*Dr. Albert Taylor's shows are always a joy to listen to, very smooth and informative delivery - and I still want to have an OBE :)
* Jim Elvidge and digital simulated reality, bleeding edge material brought down to Earth in context!
I would add Michio Kaku, while his shows are enjoyable and well delivered, it seems since he has gone mainstream he is not bringing much new material to the table like he used to.  How many times can we hear the Type 0,1,2.... civilizations explained? Those that have barely heard of Art or Michio would find this show gold.
I'll avoid the usual folks that appear on radio shows (LMH, Travis Walton, David Paulides, etc.) for the same reasons of "burn rate" that comes with hearing anything too many times, but will add their appearance with Art made the show "value added" -- I'd sooner hear a worn in "household name" guest with Art than our other options.

Those were great for cerebral and I would like to add, for fun, I really enjoyed the moment Art made the Feral Humans show about Zombie Love/Hate. That was a fun show and showcased how Art could make a stinker show into a winner and fun one.

Empathy. When MITD began with the superior sound quality, I could hear his breathing and the pace and shallowness and immediately felt the beginnings of a panic attack. Lets be honest here folks, he is already suffering to some extent.

Really hope Art is up to a live show hopefully tonight

I liked the one where that lady had Bigfoot running through the woods wearing a flannel shirt.

Good idea! If not tonight, an open-lines would still be fun. I hope his visits on MITD, however unpredictable or irregular will help even some of the naysayers appreciate him a tad more. I think there are still a few untold stories from Art. Theres more to all this that has went down since December...he hasn't lied to us, either, but there is a bigger story behind the story. If all of us practice more kindness and empathy towards him and just let him speak his words when he comes back, we might just learn something. Meanwhile, off to listen to a classic show...thanks again for the tip Tiger Lily :)

More than welcome, D-X  :)

I even admit, my least favorite show about the Moon missions being hoaxed - Arts final line "And we have single handedly destroyed the space program tonight" got me laughing with a facepalm.  Where else on the radio have we heard this kind of insanity? The so bad its good really does apply sometimes.

A couple of others would be GIS with Barbara back in the saddle where she should be. John Batchelor was good because he's about the most knowledgeable radio host I've ever heard as far as geopolitics and science, he's like the anti-Dave. And of course Graham Hancock is always a winner of an interview.

Dateline

I would get a certain pleasure having Art interview Dave.

Shostak was okay, but I think he's sort of taken a credibility hit lately. Radio SETI is probably not going to be the one that finds E.T. It will be visible spectrum SETI that nails it.

Hey all, I know I haven't posted much but have been lurking again because I just had a quintuple bypass open heart surgery (don't do that if you don't have to) and I just wanted to thank ALL of you for keeping a smile on my face over the past week, not to mention the past four months or so. I mean, this shit is GREAT, better than a movie!

Looking forward to convalescing while reading bellgab and can't wait to see the shit fly one way or the other regarding Art's "impending" appearance on MitD!

glad you're vertical.  were you placed on a ventilator for any period of time after the operation?  my grandmother was a respiratory therapist, and perhaps her greatest fear was winding up on one of those things.

fun fact:  the majority of my grandmother's co-workers in the respiratory department were smokers.

I wonder what kind of excuse Art for quitting his comeback if he is a no show this week.

Thanks MV!

Not post-op thankfully. I was almost more concerned about the breathing tube being shoved past my precious vocal chords as I am a professional singer. They took their time and I didn't even have a sore throat afterwards, I have truly been blessed. Well, as blessed as someone with my arteries can be. 😉

By the way MV, your avatar looks like one of my nurses! She was a gas!
