I wonder if George Noory will secretly start an "Art Bell Sucks" forum.  Every member will be Noory engaged in conversations and debates with himself.

Juan

Back during the run up to Dark Matter, I proposed meeting at the haunted whorehouse in Pahrump.

I'm in. ;D

I'm betting Art would avoid said "Art Bell convention" like the plague. Having fans online is one thing, having them too close to home is another thing altogether.

Does this mean that the Art Bell Barbeque at Art's house is a non-starter?

Just need confirmation from Art. This could be the Woodstock/Burning Man of talk radio.

For The Record Mr. Bell, add my name to the list of fans who would GLADLY pay to hear you do what you do.
I'm in.

Art: I'm all in for a subscription for downloadable shows. I'm in the eastern time zone and have to get up early for work so that would be great for me. I'll be listening LIVE on my days off.

When downloading the shows will the bumper music be included? CTC downloads do not include bumper music....I USE TO subscribe to CTC hear George Knapp and your old shows. Will we be able to stream the shows once they have aired? I guess I can record it live but downloads would be better.

I'm sure details will be coming. Again, I'd be glad to pay for your show. Please include Linda Moulton Howe at least twice a month. Yes, we need Richard Hoagland, too! New guests and old! Looking forward to July!

Excellent question Danger.

I was under the assumption that Coast didn't include the bumper music in the downloads because either there was an extra cost associated with that or because it's a rights issue or both.

I would imagine that Art would face the same issue.

I hope that the bumper music can be included as re-listening to recorded shows without the bumper music is definitely missing something. Art's bumper music, usually chosen, to suit the vibe and mood of the topic being discussed, is very important to replaying the show.

noorys music ,on the other hand , is ill chosen and makes the mood of the show suck more.

Ha.  Dave's music makes me think I am too young to be listening to his show.

Its possible... Need a few helpers and an overall Boss. Get Art's OK and hopefully someone will run with it and get things moving along. Sell tickets to cover Art/other speakers fees and pay expenses. I'm sure there are a lot of talented people on Bellgab that can make this happen. Someone just needs to get it started.

yes music on podcasts in a major legal issue, cause the artists need paid for the pays there is no current measurable way to do that.

I'd imagine that downloads/listens would be the best measurable. I also remember hearing that streams are treated differently than downloadable files.

By that logic, they could wrap the cost of the music licensing into the podcast subscription fee. If it's affordable.

Might I suggest that all the would be AB fans pry open their wallets and subscribe to Patreon from the Dark Matter Radio page. I did, months ago, and I see there are six-freaking-teen other people that have done it. 16 others, wow. This endeavor does cost money, and is worthy of paying to hear.
I'm not connected in any way, shape or form to DM, but I do want to see it succeed.

I belive that for the music to be included in the dowload, a distribution liscence has to be obtained as well as the liscence to broadcast said music.

Fair Use doctrine is still a grey area when it comes to podcasting.

Delphi

Heh I like the Art Bell BBQ  idea...

Or atleast we could get together for the premiere of the new Dark chatter and have ribs and beer and listen in!
