I've emailed the knye owner. She loves art and said anytime he wants to grab the mic he can do it at knye. But she said art wants to stay retired, which is probably the truth.

Didnt you post this a few weeks ago? Is this recent info?

Crystal would say yes I'm sure, but I highly doubt she owns her own songs. The publisher would have to say yes too.

When she was on the show and first played that song, did she not say she was giving it to Art, or to the public domain?  Pretty sure it was one or the other.

Fuck.

I'm pretty much done with arts comeback attempt unless he goes to a mainstream radio network, the plans are doomed.

I've been a staunch proponent of Art but this is just sad/depressing now.

Oh buck up there now, my little Art Bell Buckeroo. Art's just tak'in us for a ride, enjoy the show!

Seems to me like bands/artists should be glad or even pay to have their music played by Art. That is valuable advertising for their music.
You sound like C2C and their policy of paying guests there. Or actually all of the paranormal shows.

This sure is a bumpy ride.

... But, for those who didn't read HorrorReporter's post, Art said he is not quitting, he just has to figure this out first....

Occam's Razor.

Art is a private guy, and based on this very shabby treatment of his fans, I'd say he wants us to go away and not bother him in retirement.

This new post about now 'not quitting' looks to just be a set-up for another yank on the chain to detach the remaining holdouts.

Stick with being a fan of his (former) shows.  There is precious little in his conduct over the past several years or so to be a "staunch proponent" of.

Bumper fucking music?? Dreamland had ONE tune for intro - bumper and goodfuckingnight .. The Oh of Pleasure -- and it was PERFECT. Didn't need no ABBA, Moody Blues or whothefuckever.... Pay Ray Lynch a few thousand bucks and use it and maybe Crystal in the Desert for "Goodnight America" = Drama solved.

Yeppir - Even before it started ...  :o

I truly love the guy ... but .. Methinks Art is being a drama queen.

Actually, I was a listener when you were on air, Art, and I still think this is a bunch of poppycock.

So Art's not interested in stealing Noory's submerging artists.
No big deal.
He's got a few months to work out the music issue.

Mr. Fidget

My forthcoming radio deal is with an AM station. I have been told (by the ceo) that the station has ASCAP and BMI taken care of... play what I want. The show will live stream, and be archived for future listening. The airtime is like $75 /hr to buy, but my deal is a 50/50 crowdsourced revenue share. KCAA AM 1050 in the Inland Empire. I'm sure Fred would hook Art up. This seems very solvable.

I agree. I always felt Dreamland was far superior to C2C anyway. I liked the no-caller format. Have a guest, get straight to the point, and rock and roll.

3OctaveFart

I love the guy but he is a bigger drama queen than my sister-in-law. No disrespect intended to either.

Art, you are an entertainment legend and a legend can find a way to reach a golden mean here.

The Rock 'n' Roll seems to be the snag at this point.

Although I always loved the way Art handled calls, in the era of podcasts (and cellphones & skype), maybe a more stripped-down, no-caller show is the way to go.

I don't want to Sound rude, but Awww damn YA know

Hell can't he just play tHe voyager recordings, they are sci fi sounding I think in public domain

Art didn't try very hard for a solution. Instead of pulling the show, why not first put out what the problem is and see if someone can help. I've heard some good ideas. I know other popular podcast used licensed music.

Gd5150

Everyone and their brother has a podcast now. Getting studio quality recordings doesn't require a 20k studio. High quality audio can be done with an iPhone, I've done it. And there is plenty of public domain music out there that would capture the feel. And if not, have a friggen contest and get new music. This is a really weak excuse.

nextgen.fm

If you go on Amazon you can preview songs each one is like 30 secs right not whole song is this similar to what art would be doing, I mean they don't pay royalty fees do they?

Edit...seems like they do sorry
