If you guys havent seen Arts facebook page. THERES AN UPDATE COMMING.
AND ITS NOT GOOD! Im sure Art will be along shortly to post here.  GODDAMNIT!!!!

I just read it on the newsfeed. There's got to be a way around it. :(

Well looks like Art has quit this time before he even started now that's a new record LOL

It is so hard being an Art Bell fan.

Why can't he just use Apurimac 1-3 and "the chase"? I'm not going to sit around saying "see he just doesn't want to broadcast anymore" or "at least we had a fun time when Dark Matter was happening" and no, I will not punch the burrito truck until the police taze me like the last time he quit.

sydtron

Shit, piss, cunt, fuck, cocksucker, motherfucker, and tits.
Fart, turd, and twat.

Take that mr. Music liscencer man.

Another:

QuoteIt warms my heart for some of you to be saying you do not care but for me it was a major part of the energy for me and I think the listener as well, I picked bumper music like others might pick a fine wine for a special dinner, it was part and I think a major part of the magic.

Well, I'm glad to know it isn't Art's fault.

I'm not so sure ... I worked at a digital music co. back in the day - we went bankrupt waiting for the recording industry to adapt to the times.

I'm sad too, Art.  You keep trying to do this, and continue to run into roadblocks.  Please know that there may be some nasty comments to follow, but not everyone is pissed at you.

This is what it is to create something, one runs into problems along the way.  This reveals our character not in how we react, but in how quickly we bounce back to deal with the issues we face.

I'm with you, good or bad.  I still have hope that you will find a way.

FallenSeraph

Howdy! Saw the above post and of course I had to come running over here. Hugs and hello and long time no see, everyone! And damn you, Art Bell! ;)

To clarify: I am not mad at Art,  I'm mad at the situation, and taking it out on a burrito truck.

Omg, look who it is!  Hi Seraphim!  You survived Ukraine!

This Keith Rowland sounds like one hell of a business advisor.

I can't believe no one involved in this did not think about this before.

Juan

I worried about this.  The music companies just will not move into the modern era.

ksm32

It's not April 1st. That gives me a real bad feeling..

Wouldn't be the same without bumpers.

MarkP

What an excuse.

Podcasts use music all the time.

You can't charge for them if the music is in the paid for version.

Simple solution... Free stream with music.   Paid podcast with music removed.  It isn't that difficult.

Or... Get some new original music by bands that want exposure, and will gladly provide music free of charge.

Can't Art use copyright free music? There are sources out there. Not the same as his trademark music but it could set a mood. It's a new show he's trying to create- why not use a new music source?

Mr. Fidget

There is lemonade in this lemon barrel somewhere. Two words "creative commons." Two more "crowd source." Two more "extensive network."
Art, with your connections, and extended network, there is no doubt you could have all-new music. With your network of listeners you could do what C.C. could have done with emerging artists. Sure, it's not the "fine wine" you elude to on facebook, but it could be even better. This is 2015, paradigm be damned... adapt. I bet the General would be glad to give you some (fine) guitar, and you do have some other pals in music.
:)

Edit: like pyewacket said as well, while I typed this... embrace creative commons.

Haha, thanks! Long story, but that gig fell apart in three-four months, due to some legal stuff going on there. Never got to go to Ukraine. Back to freelancing. It's like my damn destiny or something. Took a break from, well, sort of talking to people for a while, but it's nice to be back here with my Art Bell family (whether we love him or are pissed at him). And of course, poor George has gotten so damn unbearable I can't even turn him on anymore.

Was bummed to read Art's news just now but frankly not surprised. The haters are gonna hate, but I was sort of bracing myself for his next excuse.

*runs away*

I feel the same way except I'm presently taking it out on my stash of bubble-wrap.

The General

I believe that if Art teams up with a radio station (KNYE, for example) that has legitimate paid BMI and ASCAP licenses, he can piggyback on their license and keep the music in the podcast if it was broadcast on the air first.  I listen to lots of podcasts with copyrighted real music in them, but they run on terrestrial radio first... possible solution, but I don't know everything about it.

Old_Flash

Well, Hell Fire! I do understand. These days it seems that there are a lot of things that seem so simple, but then usually because of greed, a wall is thrown up. Art says he has talked it to death. It does get tiresome beating your head against a wall. If some of you guys remember a popular character, Rosanne Rosannadana on Saturday Night live use to say, IT"S ALWAYS SOMETHIN! Hang in there Art. Never Give Up!

I had similar thoughts when I suggested he broadcast through KNYE and offer an accompanying stream, but was not able to articulate it so well.  Thanks, General.
