Rasputin

I think you may be on to something there S.R. Whatever he decides to do, Art will pick interesting topics, and not focus on angels, quack doctors, or doom and gloom that has infected C2C for the past few years.
I'm sure there are others that want to hear interviews with garage inventors, or maybe whistle blowers from Area 51.

I'm praying there is a podcast feature though, but Art is smart enough to realize how technology has changed the way people listen to talk radio.

I dont think the show will be as science based as people seem to think. All of the press releases stress PARANORMAL. It's going to be like the mid 90's all over again imo.

Like the mid 90's minus the huge audience, you mean?

My problem with dames wasn't his story. Rather his pompous pretentious attitude always made me want to smack him.

Art had plenty of guests that were obviously self deluded. But many if not most asked to be believed rather than lord over the audience.

Dames gives "Napoleon complex" a bad name.

What are you saying?

The audience will come, Art will have massive numbers eventually. Besides as the great Joel Hodgson says "the right people will get it."

I think it's a safe bet he'll steer clear of such favorites of Dave's as The Numbers Lady and Lionel Farnthorpe.  "Springheel Jack" should be declared cruel and unusual punishment.

Perhaps not on the show.  I can imagine Noory slightly nicking himself while shaving early in the morning with thoughts of Art's return thumping sharply through his brain like a runaway train...

he stops for a second...feels a slight twinge of pain...and as a little droplet of blood begins to roll down his chin his eyes widen in the mirror, and, as he drops the shaver... a scream that would make Sasquatch proud emanates from his mouth...

he begins to run through his house, overturning tables, knocking over his TV, dumps the fridge over and breaks the picture window leading to his balcony.  He stumbles out to the balcony, naked, his face half-covered with blood-mixed shaving cream, and with eyes as wild as Hoagland's imagination Noory screams into the early morning darkness.

As he begins to catch his breath he notices a little kid on the sidewalk directly below.  The kid asks, "Are you George Noory?"  George nods yes, weakly.  Then, the kid, with the confidence of a general leading troops into battle confidently proclaims, "Dave, you suck."

Poetic. Get this man a Flannery O'Connor award.

Roy Hinkley

Minor Ed Dames and his remote viewing is a total joke.  He is like a one-hit wonder.  He may have had a guess that ended up being "remotely" correct way back in the '70s or '80s, and he's been riding that coattail for 30+ years with no hit since.  He has cried wolf, like moving to Eastern Europe, more times than you can count, but nothing ever pans out.  And as with all of Dave's doomsdayers, the end of the world is near, but be sure to check out their website so you can purchase their books and DVDs - you know, cause that will help when the world ends...

I am ok with damion Brinkley being on arts show. I think art will find some new favorite guests too. I also think some of the old will be back to. I'm also glad there's a producer who ever it is will help find guest to. I'm sure art has the power to yea or nay the Sirius  producers suggestions.

Many here bitch, moan and groan about the Kill Shot guy, but as wacky as he is, he is still entertaining. I am always interested in what shit he is going to make up next.

LOL

On a other note I hope art hired the people back who used to work for him that got fired when premier took over.  I'm sure he did, because they did a lot of the stuff that made the show good behind the scenes. The decline in quality was evident when premier took control.

I just heard yet another rumor that Art will be on Sirius radio Sept 16th on Sirius/XM 20:00-01:00et.

Any truth to this, or is this more internet BS?

Here is a link:

Hopefully this is the real thing, and the show will be called "Dark Matter". If this is true, C2C will die a much quicker death, and we can all look forward to good guests with an excellent host who knows how to interview. Hopefully Knapp will jump the sinking ship, and join Art to do some guest hosting and a few Sundays.

Are you being "fashionably late to the party" or just playing dumb?  :)

One of my top 10 favorite guests was Dean Koontz on 1/22/2002.  That, for me, was classic Art Bell.  He invited Koontz to be a guest because someone told Art that Koontz had mentioned him in his latest book.  They talked for two hours and it ran the gamut; from quantum mechanics, to cloning, genetic modification, string theory, life after death, near death experiences, nanotechnology, and more that I don't remember off-hand.   What made it compelling was the completely unscripted nature of what sounded like an authentic conversation.   There was no agenda - just two guys who hadn't met before; both of them expert story tellers, exploring their common interests seemingly unaware there was an audience eavesdropping.  At the time, Koontz was a rare guest in any media format, saying that it made him uncomfortable.  It took about a half hour for Art to put him completely at ease, but the pay-off sparkled like diamonds.

That's the brilliance of Art Bell as far as I'm concerned.  The man is an enormously talented conversationalist.  It doesn't matter all that much that there be a particular subject, scientific or paranormal inquiry.   It's more important that the guest is a good dancer, conversationally speaking.

I will have no problem paying for Sirius if Art is on, but will they have a podcast option? I'd love to listen live, but can't because of my work schedule.
no podcast, but Sirius will reportedly have Art Bell's show in their 'on demand' feature for playback by subscribers (via radio or internet device app) at any time from at least a 30day archive, plus the show is replayed a couple times after its initial airing during the night too.

thats what i hope for, more like Art in the mid to late 90s.
Art's shows in the last few years were often the same small group of guests on topics like global warming, etc or the same old EVPs played from the GIS group.
I would hope he gets back to the energy he had in the 90s and a more varied group of guests more on the paranormal topics again, if I were to subscribe.

Dave just played Some Velvet Morning......anyone ever hear him play this before?

FYI - that show is still available *for now* to streamlink members (fuck that 'insiders club' moniker) here --

sounds like a great one -- will be listening to that one tonite  ;D

I just listened to it a couple weeks ago on Gandalf50's cloud.  It was the first time I'd heard it since the original airing, and it was as good as remembered.  Highly recommend!  After you listen to it, I'd love to know how you liked it.

Max_TO

I can't see Art limiting himself to one type of topic , that's not Art .

ChuckQ

Surely if MvD resumes streaming of these NEW Art Bell broadcasts, we will only be hearing the EVP shows!

Not ever.  Not even once.  Perhaps more regular listeners would know, but I've never heard him play it.

I've never heard Dave play that either .... but I listen ONLY via streamlink ... and skip his infomercials on the half-hour breaks -- but usually hear enough of the bumper music before doing so to hear that music and if it's a really good song I let it play til Dave starts his pitch for .15/day subs or whatever....

The ONLY way I can barely stomach the dave snoorie cheek2cheek show is to be able to skip thru it at will...  8)

Dave stated the changes and tweaks he's made has grew the show.

Yeah, I didn't think so.  Back when he started, I really tried to give him a chance and listened every night for 1.5, maybe 2 years.  The music suffered.  It was like being pulled into the wrong time space continuum where everything sucks.

Lionel Farnthorpe.  "Springheel Jack" should be declared cruel and unusual punishment.

It's like Chinese water torture. You'd think that Fanthorpe has a contractual obligation to tell that story each time that he comes on the show.

As for "Some Velvet Morning" and other Bell staples, Noory sometimes uses them like an unintended nod to the new program. Really, I'm not sure why Coast does this.

Renaldo

I'm betting Dave's throwing in some classic, uniquely Art bumpers so that the hoopleheads will think Art's ripping him off if they decided to to tune in to Sirius. I wonder if he'll start playing Abba or Moody Blues?

I listened for even longer and still do via streamlink (as noted above) and gave dave the benefit of the doubt for a while -- He does have a very good radio voice regarding tone and delivery and could likely make a living doing voiceovers (if he could work on his enunciation a bit) --- but he is an absolutely HORRIBLE interviewer ... pays no attention at all to what his guest is saying and interjects with "well that's nice" "yes absolutely" and such and is on to his next cue card question without regard to what his guest has just told him.

I used to be in radio ... and when in broadcasting school I was taught to listen to what the interviewee was saying and (when needed) ask a follow-up question based on what the guest had just said|revealed... i.e. paraphrase/recap what was said and ask a follow-up for the guest to extrapolate upon. NOT just recite a canned response like "well that's interesting" or "I bet" with no regard whatsoever to what your guest has just told your listeners. THAT's what REALLY pisses me off about dave. Apparently he's too busy reading his email - or surfing porn or thinking up late-night snacks for him and Tommie - to pay attention to what he and his listening audience is being told by his guests.

And his canned, cue-card intro/bio of each and EVERY fucking guest -- followed by "SOooooo -- how did you get started as a *fillintheblank*..." REALLY torks my ass!!!!

Art has the art and gift of being an actual interviewer and pays attention to what's being said and genuinely cares about his show and its contents. I heard him say on a very old SIT show I was listening to just the other night something to the effect that he does his "homework preparing for his guests and that's the hard and time-consuming part"... and that the interviews are the EASY part. THAT's a major facet of what puts Art lightyears ahead of Dave.

But of course most of you already know this .... please excuse the lengthy rant -- I just HAD to vent a bit.....  >:(
