If you ask George it was angels.

That's certainly most likely!

Actually that upper right corner is kind of a place of acknowledgement for posters that post something different. There have been several different quotes there. It changes often.

I do believe there has been at least one Lebowski quote, it made me very happy to see that. Regarding Art, for all we know someone is just messing with everyone here on this forum by putting up a site and changing what is on it. If I knew I could do that I would be very tempted to do it myself :)

Also, what does it say about the industry that the people I enjoy listening to the most are over 60? Hell, for that matter what does that say about me?

Good day to all of you, and hopefully we will know more soon :)

On the subject of the Sunday night slots and Art returning...

Nice idea, but I don't see it happening. Not after all he's stated and implied about his dealings with those people, nor given his very clear views on the state of what the show has become--and most especially not after how pleased-as-pizza-punch he was to be free of his non-compete clause.

Now, if something impossible has happened, they've shoved a truckload of money under his door and combined it with a contract that he can live with, of course, I'll happily listen to the man on the air again. But I see it as unlikely.

The most likely scenario, as I've pointed out for a long time, is that Wells is being positioned as the heir apparent and will pick up the extra Sunday night. Knapp will become even more than he already is, the odd man out. And they already have a b-level host--Rob Simone. Whom I don't mind, actually. A bit bland, but not un-engaging.

In any case, I think the activity of the website speaks volumes, certainly more than Art's FB teases. I'm done getting my hopes up, but--I can still be hopeful.

That makes sense. I imagine that Art's website will be some type of blog where he can make comment on current events. I wonder whether there will be any paranormal content. I don't foresee any podcasting but rather a straight out blog.

Searched the Web and found this regarding AWS and Keith Rowland:

Man it'd be nice to get another clue on the site. Or just a FB posting from art or something anything.... Sad I check a website with a ! 10 times a day.

The only Sunday night slots Art will be doing are the ones in Las Vegas (and I'm not referring to George Knapp).

I've been checking 3 times a day. Once in the morning. Another at lunch. And lastly before bed. What a sad life I lead. Art should put up some Ads from Google Ads up there. He would be making a fortune. But I guess google would frown upon someone making money from no content. How much is an ! worth?

What's a bigger draw a ? Or a ? And does changing the color matter?

A variable schedule of changing the punctuation and colour with the number of views.

If they really want to mess with us they should start to use "alien" letters.

Meanandnasty

They are keeping it simple to cater to the current Coast listenership. :'( !

Do you think the change from a ! To a ? Means anything? What do you make of the alien displayed on Firefox for an icon? Do you think this means the site will deal with the paranormal?

Found this on Keith's website

I build stuff on the Internet. It’s time to build something new or finish off something I started long ago and never finished.

I think Art is trying to learn HTML.

Is it a portal?

b_dubb

I think Art could get his HTML in an afternoon. He might have so much luck with design. The server / client side scripting is more of a challenge. But there it would just be a question of how much time he wanted to spend on it. I'm guessing he's maximizing time with the wife and daughter

Nah...AB is more the Pahrump Circle K type.

Ok, new theory, and it's a lot simpler and more likely.

As Art has mentioned, his daughter is about to start going to school, which means that it's just going to be he and his wife around the house.  As anyone who is married knows, you can't spend 100% of your time with your significant other, and as much as Art love HAM, I'm sure he can't constantly do it.  My bet is that this is a fun side project to keep him occupied while the house is quiet during the day.  Maybe it will be some type of blog?  Maybe just some fun little way to stay connected with his fans outside of Facebook.  I dunno.  If I was a retired guy like Art and was about to have the most free time I have had in years, I would probably be looking for some new hobby or project myself.

I think that's about all you can really read into this stuff.  It's probably not something on a grand scale - just a fun project for a guy in the high desert.

Maybe LMH can investigate the great AB mystery and report back.  That should clear things up.  ::) ;D

It will most likely be some type of blog as he just can't do a blog through facebook. His page get too cluttered with other peoples crazy posts. Obviously he has more control over what people can see on his on blog/website.

I read a couple years ago on a media industry site that Bell sold C2C for in the neighborhood of $150 million.  I can't find anything on it now.  Does anyone else have a figure for the C2C purchase?

Wow, that's about $147 million more than I would have guessed!

It explains why they haven't canceled it, but not why they let Noary run it into the ground.

Whaaaa?!??! That just floors me I juts don't think that figure is possible. Of course I know nothing about the business, but I would have guessed something closer to about 10% of that massive figure.

But if AB did sell for a huge amount like that, out of sheer shame he should never complain about anything that happened on the show after he left.

Sounds high, but the sale came in a period when a lot of business acquisitions were made at crazy prices.  Can't find anything on the C2C deal, or on the topic of syndicated radio show sales or values.  I'm curious whether Bell came out filthy rich, or merely comfortable.

The price of accepting George Noory's Nero-like destruction of C2C?

Yeah, I'd probably be amenable to 1/6 of a Billion Dollars. As a starting point.

I have no media business references either, but in the scale of private business buy-outs, $150M isn't such a huge sum anymore, so I can't dismiss that number.

This number is so large it starts getting fun to figure out a per-show price. Any idea of how many C2C shows Art did? Somewhere around 3000? 5000 maybe? More? Say he did 5000 shows - that works out to almost $30,000 per show. Over and above what he got paid at the time of the show through ads and/or contract. Anyone with more reliable show numbers?

Not disputing, just expressing my amazement.  $150 m is nothing to these corporations, unless it's some non-exec wanting a raise.

Makes me wonder what they think the old shows are worth.  Probably not that much and less every day, it's all about future revenue projections which is mostly from the ongoing show itself.  If he has $150m, he could probably buy at least the pre-Noory catalogue back for a song, although purely from a business standpoint why would he.   I wonder if he has his own personal set of those shows
