Art Bell

Mr Bloom

That's an interesting idea stenjay. However, I don't think it's a good reason. There's no reason he couldn't have just sprung off XM with the same realization without leaving all of us twisting in the breeze (again) until his NC expires, He could (should) have kept doing DM

He is a quitter. Look as his past history. This is the most plausible explanation for things.

There is something to be said for that. I respect Art, but I don't think he grasps the fact that most people can't just up and leave their employment and may just look at his serial retirements as being a diva.

I also think that Art, painful as this is to write, overestimated his importance to  Sirius as well as his relevancy in the paranormal field. He's plenty of competition now - Snoory's hung on for 10 years, lots of paranormal tv programming, podcasts, etc. His numbers were never going to be what they were in the glory days, and they won't be when the podcast returns. And I have to wonder if he'll leave that, too, if the numbers aren't what he wants.

Ouch.  Unfortunately, I have similar thoughts.  Even if Art does come back, how long will it be before some similar BS arises and Art abruptly heads for the exit.  I'll never forget the poor lady who got through to Art on the first DM show and chastised him for his previous departures.  We are that lady.

I know, it's harsh, but I've had months to think about Art's last move, and it still doesn't sit right that after all the excitement, praise for SiriusXm and all the rest, he gives them an ultimatum which, unsurprisingly, wasn't accepted, and quits. He didn't have a strong hand to play, and I wonder if after all this time he realizes that yet.

He knew it all along. I think this was the easy way out. The easy way is Art's way.

I really, really hate thinking that but it's what I thought from the start when I saw the exit door for Dark Matter crack open.  Damn it.

First off, don't get me wrong. I love Art and am appreciative of the thousands of hours of entertainment that he has provided. I am not going to get real excited if Art comes back.

Art is kind of like being married to an alcoholic that goes out and does bad stuff and then when sober, apologizes for what he/she has done, makes excuses, etc. You know after this happens  one hundred some times, the other spouse usually says enough of this and says get the fuck out of my house. Further, I never want to see your sorry ass again.

Art is going to come back Sept.1 2015 and it will be awesome!

It's sad how apt that metaphor is. I feel like the alcoholic's wife "that's it! I've had it with his bullshit this time!", but as soon as he starts to get come 'round and talk sweet like he used to, I get excited about having him back and things the way they were when things were better, but everyone knows it's only a matter of time... including me, but I don't want to admit it. Okay that sounds pretty weird

Even sadder is that all of us are enablers (although his crowd of followers on Facebook is even worse).

Good points.  He's not the only game in town anymore.  Back in the 90s, there was Art Bell, maybe one or two other shows, and a couple of TV shows.  Now there is content for about every niche imaginable.  Art squandered his reputation and was silent for a decade.  And while he seems just as sharp as he ever was, he's a bit behind the times.

What is Art going to have, a podcast that gets a few thousand downloads and 3 phone calls?

Yeah, that'll last.

Yes. The winding down started when he quit the cigs.

Fun fact: Art announced on the night before i took the Bar Exam (Yes i stayed up to find out, and yes i passed) and his last show was the night I got my bar results and found out I passed...

There's some cheesy "barbell" joke in there somewhere I just know it

Lovely family picture. It's moments like this when I am amazed at how long I've been listening to C2C and how much background to that picture I know - Ramona's untimely death, Art's announcement about Airyn, his move to the Philippines, their marriage, Asia's birth, their move back to the US. It's one of the reasons why, if Art returns, I'll listen even though the BS has finally hit saturation point for me. It all comes down to I like the guy, but I also know he'll pull that rug.

Speaking of pulled rugs, one of the things that I noticed was Arts hair, it's as dark as Asias.
Could it be Noron # 9 on the color chart?

More power to you Art.

He gave an ultimatum that couldn't be accepted. Making Sirius/XM look like the bad guy. I think if they accepted his deal he would have found another unreachable ultimatum so he could still quit.

If Art comes back in Sept 16 of 2015, He will quit again. We need a new Art Bell for the new era of the paranormal talk shows.

onan

If Art comes back, and I think he will, I will listen to the shows he does. He doesn't owe me anything. So what ever we get is something to enjoy.
