Somewhere In Time is going somewhere that Somewhere In Time has never gone before. This weeks SIT is going to 1994. More precisely 5/4/94 when computer expert Brian Hammerstein discussed the many applications for computers and how one can get online using "super fast" 14.4 modems!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't recall a SIT episode venturing into the year 1994. I really hope they start delving into this forgotten and neglected period in Art Bell history.

Long live SIT!!!

That show should be chock full of comments and maybe even predictions about computing that turned out to be humorously wrong.

The classic quote attributed to Bill Gates about '640K (of RAM memory) ought to be enough for anybody' comes to mind.

Someone on the Art Bell subreddit is looking for a specific show.  Anybody have any clue as to what show it is?

QuoteHey everyone.

I'm searching for a particular coast to coast show when art was a host.

See my dad listened to the art bell show at night to help him sleep, and one night I couldn't sleep so I overheard this broadcast.

A caller spun a yarn about moving to his parent's hick town after his older sister died in a car crash. This hick town was so remote that people measured distances by saying "x miles up the creek".

It's there he starts seeing shadow people, it sounds like the caller never heard of the shadow people and art neither. So I think it kickstarted the craze. Creeped me the fark out.

It isn't the show with twisted hair elder thunder strikes or dr. Morgan spence.

This has bugged me for years, an help would be appreciated.

jazmunda

It doesn't ring a Bell. Pardon the pun. Sounds interesting and if it's the genesis for the Shadow People craze then it is an important show in Art Bell history.

I'm just depressed there are people young enough to have listened to Art when they were children.

Oh, thank God you're back. I am almost through the portal!

yep he use to, his shows use to be free  to  listen to online till i think early 2000, then all of a sudden you had to pay for it by subscribing to the website and streamlink was formed.
heh!

What?  Did I?  Looks like I stumbled into a thread where JSEX isn't publicly bleeding out?

Tonight's Somewhere in Time is from 1994, I'm listening to it right now with them talking about their PCs in 1994.
That was prior to Windows95 came out so they must have been running on Windows 3.1
Art mentioned his PC had a 486DX33 CPU and wondered about the "new" Pentium CPUs coming out.
The guest told about the newest Intel Pentiums at 90Mhz and 100Mhz were preferred.
I remember at that time I also had a 486 system and later upgraded it to an Intel Pentium 100Mhz.
They were talking about the fastest modems to use, 14.4K
They eventually got up to 28K, 33K and even 56K.
The guest told Art about a special new internet connection using ISDN that offered a whopping 64K speed - Art couldn't imagine having that fast an online data speed!
Nowadays even the slowest cable and DSL connections are way faster than ISDN.
The guest also told of having a special ISP that offered unlimited online modem speeds for only $19.53/month flat rate - Art thought that was a great deal!

I do not believe SirusXM broadcasts SIT episodes. Does someone know otherwise?

Morgus

It appears tonight's Somewhere in Time only featured the computer guest for the first hour.
Now for the last 3 hours Art is moving to current news (in 1994) and discussion of some gun control issue.

Don't know.
I've found several free station streams that carry SIT Saturdays 6-10PM PT with the free "TuneIn" app for PC or android devices.
One free station stream on TuneIn I use for SIT and C2CAM is "KVEC"

dan7800

The last couple of weekends, I was excited to tune in my Sirus radio for some SIT, but I heard GN's voice, so I quickly changed channels.

CKTB used to always be a good streaming source for me. However, I haven't been able to listen to C2C for years.

Thanks for the update, kind Sir.  Just tuned in and heard Art going on about gun control, and though... WTF this isn't 94 PC chat. Then I questioned if the station was broadcasting the right show.

Thought I may have been Weebered into alt. time line.
Lawd, whats next? The PROBE?! Be gentle little blue demon, it's my first time.

Also listening to the 1994 gun rights show. Twenty years and not much has changed; still sounds very current.

Yep. Substitute Clinton for Obama. If premeir was smart they would do that and have good shows n relative to today. Art's concerns with Ilegal Immigration and china rise also! Many shows like that. Oddly, for a second time, listening to old Art show (this time on invisibility architecture) I got "Some Velvet Morning" bumper music n at time 11:11 on my local time, relistening. Happened also, to me, listening to an mp3 of old Art a couple weeks ago (this time on stream.) But weird. Same time 11:11 n that haunting song. Weird.

NO.

Do the SIT shows play during the normal C2C live time?

No, most stations play SIT once a week, on Saturday nights 6-10PM Pacific Time.
The live C2CAM show starts right afterwards for that night.

Ok, thank you. I figured Sirius would never play Art's voice again. I actually listen to C2C sometimes on the weekend whenever GN is not hosting. I cannot even listen to a minute of his voice.

This weeks Somewhere in Time once again delves into an almost forgotten time period in Art Bell history when it journeys back to June 23, 1994, when Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona discussed his unusual approach to police work.

Long live SIT!

I didn't listen live. I wait until I receive it from my "source". Yeah that's right I have a SIT guy. A few weeks ago I couldn't get in touch with him for a few hours and I was freaking out, scratching my arms, pacing back and forth, biting my nails down to stubs. I swear I almost listened to Norry. Thankfully he delivered before I did anything drastic that I would regret and never he able to take back.

Sounds like some heavy shit

When art returns don't call it a comeback he's been here for years.

FIFY.

Sorry I should have said, "Art doesn't viciously but vaguely love us anymore".
