George Noory Sucks! - The Definitive Compendium

Can Noory pronounce anything correctly?

No
No

Sad. Boy does he forget that there are some very lonely people out there. That is why many listen to the radio. George does not seem to care.

Doomed

What a perfect example of George's breathtaking incompetence and bone-deep stupidity: even after 10 years he still doesn't have a clue what the program is or who is interested in it.
There it is. Sardondis post sums it up perfectly.
And what if noory got clocked in the head with a bag of frozen pizza rolls, and it suddenly became clear to him? What would he do with this new found information? Could he suddenly become the host he shouldve been from the beginning? Or, would he fall back on old habits and continue to phone it in? A sudden revelation doesnt change a persons basic character, so I guess, given noorys "character", nothing would change.

mombird3

Rollye James had a show in Philadelphia. She used to say that she was on the air on holidays so that the lonely and people without family would listen and she would be keeping them company for a holiday. George just does not seem to understand this.

ziznak

haha blind lady calls in and says that George "paints beautiful pictures with his words" and that he doesn't "slur."
she's apparently deaf as well.

I was engrossed in a video game at the time yet that call gave me a good "WHAT WHAT WHAT!?!?" (said with kyles moms voice from south park)

I'm glad others here have noticed how much Snorge loves tragedies and sad, depressing things. At times I thought I must be imagining it. But even many of the commercials and some of the bumper music on his shows are depressing, sad or deal with doom-and-gloom scenarios.

In person, I bet Snorge is a "psychic vampire".   :o

He's a suckic vampire.  The thing about being on the radio every day is if one listens closely (and usually not even that closely) the host can't really hide their true self over time.

From his 'news' he selects and his personal stories, George clearly enjoys hearing about people or animals being helpless and stuck in bad situations.  With that and just the way he interacts with people, he must have spent much of his childhood in front of a TV - things just don't seem to affect him normally.

...Noory has used one of his favorite buzz-words "classic" referring to lots of movies  He throws that word out too loosely...

He must have called It's a Wonderful Life a classic about 30 times, and movies that he had no knowledge of were also "classics."  In literature there are books I haven't read that I'll call classics because everybody else does, but if I haven't seen a movie, it ain't a classic to me.  And how can "A Christmas Carol" be a classic movie if there isn't one that is the classic?  And George said that "you'll shoot out your eyes" is the memorable line from A Christmas Story, but that ain't the correct line that, I suppose, is so memorable to ole' George.  Still I thought the Stephen Schochet segment was good.  I might have gotten more from Byron Belitsos on the Urantia if somebody with an inkling of curiosity had conducted the interview.  Huh?  The Urantia tells of Jesus' lost years?  Really?  Lets move on to something else like, "who has more power?  Satan or Jesus?"
Memo to George:  just what are "interactive phones calls"?  Are they like frozen ice cubes?  Or hot flames?  You've been using the word "interactive" a lot recently.  Is this a focus group thing, or did you just now learn of it's existence?  Are we really going into the new year with this crap?

The answer is...Jesus!

Heh. I heard it in my head before I even read the attribution: "NOOOO!!! NOT THAT!!!!....Whaaaat!?! WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!?!?! WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!?!?!"

Why just in person?  You could say Snoory is a "psychic vampire" on a massive, international scale.  What other title could you give to the manner in which he publicly conducts himself 5 nights a week?  If there's any truth to any of that spiritual energy stuff, he's definitely siphoning it off of America's dumb, elderly, ignorant, and sleepless.

Real talk:  I'm usually stoned out of my mind AND working on audio w/ headphones when C2C is on.  So, I'll catch a sentence here and there, but mostly it gets ignored or unheard.  However, when I do happen to listen to Jorch in the cold and sober light of day...  omg, it's appalling.  As we've all noticed, Jorch doesn't even make sense or try with his questions and banter most of the time.  It's hard to imagine that someone hasn't stepped up and "cleaned house" at clear channel.

In the first 2 hours tonight, Noory has used one of his favorite buzz-words "classic" referring to lots of movies.
He throws that word out too loosely, often labeling his own shows as a new "classic" before he has even done the show...

Classic post Morgus!  I hate that too.  So formulaic and pretentious.  Like "those open lines" (he hates unless they kiss his rear end).

New gripe now that 12-21-12 came and went with a fizzle:  Each guest gets the same prompt about how "sumthin's gunna to happen".  Just keeping the ball of anxiety in play, right Snoorz?  Yes George.  Sumpthin's gunna happen.  It is for sure and I'm no psychic.

noory is inaccurate and insincere.  i hope he falls into a vat of boiling hot pizza rolls.  jerk

Yeah, but you're thinking of "A Christmas Story."  Ziznak was referring to "South Park."  Different Jewish mother.   One garishly drawn on TV; one unseen, over the phone.

Jasmine

I listened to that rather cringe-inducing and infantile "interview" Noory had with Santa. Given George's chronic predeliction for all things evil, I was shocked that he never once mentioned the infamous anagram re Santa/Satan and whether Santa garbed in red was somehow indicative of Kris Kringle's devilish ways. Then again, me thinks Noory wouldn't even know the definition of an anagram...he'd think it was Western Union.

Or if he did mention the connection...

George: "You know somethin'? If I said Santa Claus, then I said Satan's Claws, would there be a connection?"

I have tons of delicious leftovers from my Christmas feast. Any takers?

VtaGeezer

Visited our daughter in SoCA for Xmas. When we retired, I tried to find C2C on the Ventura CA station where it had started at 10 PM and which repeated the first three hours until 5 AM since the 90s.  Now it begins at 12 midnite, for the second hour and there is no replay.  Cut from 7 hours to 2 hours! Replaced by ESPN radio. I wonder how common this reduction in the C2C broadcast is on the many small stations that make up most of the affiliate roster that GN brags about.

Morgus

Noory keeps changing the schedule at the last minute, reducing the main guest to only 2 hours and adding a new first 2 hour guest that sounds like another of his infomercial types.

Tonight's latest c2c schedule:
Wed 12-26
First Half: Clinical psychologist Dr. George Pratt talks about post-holiday blues, and a report that the Internet is zapping creativity in youth.

2nd Hallf: Publisher of the Mysterious World books, Doug Elwell, will discuss his research on Planet X. He'll connect the work of Zecharia Sitchin to Bible references, and explain why he believes that Planet X is a harbinger of epic change, and was really the Star of Bethlehem. He'll also talk about new evidence for giants.

WOTR

Oh, good.  Is Pratt the same idiot that Noory keeps inviting back to talk of the evil of any drugs?  The same guy who keeps telling us that America needs to turn around and find morals but has absolutely no ideas of how?  The same person who was able to tell us all exactly what was wrong with the psychological make-up of the recent killers the first night after the tragedies?  If so, I think I will go read and skip the radio again this evening...

Ah, but of course. And to quote yet another media parent, "DOH!".

I've noticed this unreliable scheduling has become a regular practice at C2C, occurring 2-3 times a week or even more. Sounds to me like the kind of thing you get on a show in a terminal death spiral, where such poor production and scheduling is a function of bottomed-out morale and the non-existent work ethic it engenders. Must be what it felt like to be in the  Führerbunker in April of 1945.

SnapT

Ugh, because the guest mentioned Larry King, Noory just told the Larry L. King "my second daughter's an idiot" story AGAIN.

The part where he says "Christy, I know for a fact that Larry King NEVER uses his middle initial" in that smug know-it-all tone just makes me want to vomit.

also thats not the real name anyway of  former CNN Larry King, unlike the Larry L. King person.
Noory probably doesn't know that either...

In the news section, George relates the tale of talking with his "second daughter" Christy, who calls him "George."  She drops the bomb of news that Larry King has died, but in his wisdom he corrects her, uncovering the fact that it's actually playwright Larry L. King so all is well....

Noory is not just ignorant of academic subjects the average person picks up by junior-high (of which his lack of knowledge is truly so extreme that it staggers the imagination); he is also almost totally cut off, by choice, from even current events of any type other than "alt news" and tabloid fodder of the most morbid and depressing variety (other than the occasional headline runner, which has about the same chance of taking hold in Noory's consciousness as a single viable spermatozoa does of making it past a jellied diaphragm).

That is why Noory neither recognized the name Larry L. King as the playwright of the massive Broadway hit and widely known film, The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas; and why he didn't have the minimum intelligence it takes to immediately recognize that she must have been referring to some other person. An adult of average intelligence in Noory's position who hears a guest use the name "Larry L. King", would think, "Hmmm. I know Larry King the mentally-retarded tv talking head doesn't use a middle initial, and I don't think he died three days ago without me knowing it. Maybe, just maybe, Christy isn't the dumb one here...."

But, alas, Noory is too stupid to grasp just what a cretinous dickhead he is, and so he once again beclowned himself in everlastng imbecilic glory.  God is in his heaven, and all is right with the world.

Jorch is clearly over his head with Doug Elwell. Expect lots of "Good point" (1 so far) and "That's true", as well as pedestrian follow-up questions and a quick escape to the safety of callers.

On another PC, I still have the draft of a post called "Noory Death Spiral" that I did for another forum about 2 years ago.   As I recall, I imagined a future for "Coast" of a decreasing number of increasingly burned-out "go to" lifesaver guests and a decreasing ability to get any newer guests who are worth a damn.
What a coincidence.

Immy

LOL, Jorch signs off with Doug by telling him to have a good Christmas. I guess saying it repeatedly for the last few weeks caused it to stick in his feeble brain and come out as a rote response. What a dope.  :o

And the "Good Point" count reached 4 tonite. I'm confident he can hit a half-dozen on any given night.

Juan

The top of the forum ad is for Beyond Belief, so I clicked through on it.  I then looked at GaiamTV's home page.  I see several familiar names with shows there - names of folks who have been sNoory's guests.  Hmmmm.

valdez

Dr. George Pratt on how to be happy, then George drags out Doug Elwell to validate the planet X scam, as well as to discuss such things as cannibal giants (the worst kind) and how Moses may have had a super computer.  Elwell asked George if he was familiar with the riddle of the Sphinx, to which George, who does lots of show prep, and who knew that Elwell's latest book was called the "Riddle of the Sphinx," mumbled something.  George also assured the world (again) that Larry King is still alive.

Larry King Mug Shot
King in happier times.*
*Indeed, the year 971 was considered carefree and frolicking.

"No doubt about."

Yeah, when there usually is quite a bit of doubt about it.
And don't forget, "You never can tell."

I've lost track of the number of times I've almost driven off the road upon hearing a typical Noory comment, but perhaps my all-time favorite was years ago when he asked if the "sand scripts" to which a guest had referred were actually written in sand. Guess he had never heard of Sanskrit.

It's also maddening when he fails to ask an obvious follow-up question that would greatly illuminate the subject.

"I don't believe in coincidences." More times than I can count. Not even small ones?

So glad I found this forum. As both a broadcaster and long-time student of the "paranormal," the unexplained and the unusual, I have long wondered how George got this job.

Too funny!

Or maybe I should say:

A. "That's right."

B. "You never know."

C. "Interesting."

D. Long, uncomfortable silence. "What? I wasn't listening or paying any attention to what you were saying and my earpiece fell out so I couldn't hear Tommy prompt me to say something vague when you'd stop talking." Slight pause for mood shift and voice alteration. "Let's go to the phones and take some calls!"
