George Noory Sucks! - The Definitive Compendium

Can Noory pronounce anything correctly?

No
No

Has anyone else noticed the advertising push for Coast to Coast ever since Art announced his return and, even more so, since Art's show premiered? On the station I get Coast on, KFI AM640 (they operate out of Burbank, the same studio Noory uses when he is here in L.A.) they have all of their daytime talk shows promoting Coast to Coast now during their show AND the show that's on right before Coast starts now spends the last 10 full minutes of their show discussing Coast and talking to Noory about what tonight's Coast show will be about etc., whereas they used to announce it right as the show was ending and IF they had George on to talk at the end, it was literally a 7 to 10 second "Hey George, who's your guest, thanks bye". Sometimes, the hosts of show that was on right before Coast, would even make fun of Coast and it's listeners, which, in my opinion, was classless and immature, but now they are George's best buddies and seriously promote the show in earnest. Coast had (I don;t know if they still do, but I know they USED to) had more listeners than all of the stations other shows (perhaps even combined), save for Rush Limbaugh, and yet the station gave Coast zero respect or promotion yet they all promoted eachother's shows throughout the day. Now, that Art is back, and they are giving Coast the love and attention it surely deserved long ago (this sation ignored the Coast equally when Art was at the helm, if not more so since back then the show that was/is on before Coast never even mentioned Coast right before it aired each night, not even for 7 to 10 seconds), I am thoroughly annoyed and may stop listeningto the station all together. It is just so fake and shallow, to me, that it took Art coming back for this station to act with some degree of fairness and decency. I really can't stand such things. So, for me, they are not helping Coast in their overt promotion of the show, they are hurting it by pissing me off, to make it simple. I decided I'd still listen from time to time, even if just for Knapp, but now I'm not sure I can stand the hypocrisy and desperation.

NoMoreNoory

I returned to Coast to hear the Nessie/JFK double-header, twin obsessions of mine since boyhood. Dinsdale and Corsi both good guests and made the show worth bothering with, though I'm not sure Corsi is offering much new. Alan Dulles, as the head of the CIA sacked by Kennedy as part of his purge of the agency after the Bay Of Pigs, has been a name in the frame for some time, at least as yet another mortal enemy Jack and Bobby had made in their tenure of the White House. And his subsequent appearance on the Warren Whitewash often commented on. Corsi didn't offer much hard evidence that Dulles was The Man Who. Perhaps more will be in his book.
Two books involved in this show, neither of which Dave had obviously so much as glanced at. He revealed a remarkable lack of knowledge of Nessie, offering such lame enquiries as whether Loch Ness is 'big'. With Corsi, the cue cards were all in evidence, resulting in black hilarity when he asked the 'What single thing in your research shocked you the most?'. You mean, apart from the fact that the President was murdered and the head of the CIA might have orchestrated it? Oh, not much. Remarkably, Corsi's book is available at Barnes & Noble and some place called Amazon.com which might turn out to be not a South American travelogue, but some kind of online bookstore. Who knew?
And Dave managed a quite breathtaking moment of naked, outright lying.
He said to Corsi: 'You know, Jerry, back then, all those years ago, when all this happened, I remember reading about it, just a kid, and Dulles' name was mentioned, and I said "I bet he was involved". I don't know how or why I said it. I just did.'
Really, Dave? Reams of print, hours of film, decades of research, mountains of books, and you had the whole thing sussed as a boy? Can you say bullshit?
Final thought: Four hours of Snoory on YouTube = two and a half hours. Four hours of Art sans breaks? Three and a half. Nuff said.

This is all fine and dandy boys but can you take it over to the political thread. there's a reason why that thread is not moderated. go at over there.

As an aside, I've not thanked MV and others publicly for the tireless work they do to bring this forum to us, to bring the rebroadcasts of Coast and now Dark Matter to us, and for the posts, videos and links they provide.

It makes a huge difference in MY life and I deeply appreciate it.

Though I don't know what to do with 3 days of no Art until Monday.

Its like being a drug addict.

There's no cure for Art Bell addiction.

Thankfully.

;D

To steal a phrase from Sinatra, it was a blue world without Art.

''It's a Blue World'' Frank Sinatra

My comments were not intended to go into the realm of politics. But there was no avoid to avoid discussing it considering I was directly and so openly insulted.

But I really object to anyone calling me an asshole.

Even a liberal on line stated that he'd never heard a Conservative voice concerns for the wild animals who have to live in areas devastated by fires.

Here we just had an 800 acre fire on our local mountain and the poor animals are wandering around as if their shell shocked because their habitat has been wiped out.

People have weird ideas about what WE think about things.

Me, I feed 9 cats, give to homeless and animal groups and have taken people in who've had no place to live.

It's a mitzvah (  and what we do as Jews and what everyone should do for their fellow human beings and the animals we should protect but all too frequently abuse and people who abuse and hurt other people as well, both of which make me furious.

I'd even feed Noory if he were broke and starving but I draw the line at pizza rolls.

( In its primary meaning, the Hebrew word mitzvah ("commandment", מִצְוָה, [mit͡sˈva], Biblical: miṣwah; plural מִצְווֹת mitzvot [mit͡sˈvot], Biblical: miṣwoth; from צִוָּה ṣiwwah "command") refers to precepts and commandments as commanded by G*d. It is a word used in Judaism to refer to the 613 commandments given in the Torah (at Mount Sinai, where all the Jews accepted the Torah, saying "We will do, and we will listen") and the seven rabbinic commandments instituted later for a total of 620. According to the teachings of Judaism, all moral laws are, or are derived from, divine commandments.

In its secondary meaning, Hebrew mitzvah, as with English "commandment," refers to a moral deed performed as a religious duty. As such, the term mitzvah has also come to express an act of human kindness. The tertiary meaning of mitzvah also refers to the fulfillment of a mitzvah.

The opinions of the Talmudic rabbis are divided between those who seek the purpose of the mitzvot and those who do not question them. The latter argue that if the reason for each mitzvah could be determined, people might try to achieve what they see as the purpose of the mitzvah, without actually performing the mitzvah itself ("lishmah"), which would become self-defeating. The former believe that if people were to understand the reason and the purpose for each mitzvah, it would actually help them to observe and perform the mitzvah (some mitzvot are given reasons in the Torah).

Yup, they are in full on panic mode, people were dropping their insider subscription before Art announced his return, then a ton of people dropped it when he announced, either more dropped when the Oates thing happened, and I am sure more are dropping after hearing the first few dark matter shows.

Fact is, insider memberships a HUGE revenue source for the show and a decline in membership is an early indicator of what ratings are like. The ratings won't show up for probably a month or so but I'd bet they are trying to get an early start on stemming the tide of losing hardcore coast listeners to Art.

karios8

Referencing Art's TIME article and the C2C webpage, they lost 80% of their listeners since Art "retired" 10 years ago (15 million to "nearly 3 million").  It's comical that they have been hemorrhaging listeners all this time and now, all of a sudden, they crossed the red line?

Dave is either confused, stupid or both when he says he saved the show and brought it to new heights.  Actually, I just solved the mystery. Dave has been reading the ratings charts upside down.

*EDIT*

I found the reference on http://www.coasttocoastam.com/pages/about

QuoteCoast to Coast AM airs on more than 560 stations in the U.S., as well as Canada, Mexico and Guam, and is heard by nearly three million weekly listeners. With hosts George Noory, John B. Wells (weekend), George Knapp (weekend) and Ian Punnett (weekend), it is the most listened to overnight radio program in North America.

Falkie you may be a great person and write some decent insightful posts ... but frankly your posts are WAY too long for me to bother reading so I just skim thru them....  Have you thought of starting a blog?

Yes, Dave is busy spending quality time with Tommy and his shadow rodents.  He's enjoying his on-the-job retirement.

Actually I do and 3 of them.

But ... a political enemy hacked my original blog, my email and my original Facebook page and all 3 got deleted.

I've not done as much as I would like with my blogs and Blogger changed many of the things that I used to be able to do on my blog.

Like ... you used to be able to forward You Tube videos and comment on them and now it just seems to put the link on your blog with no picture of the video.

I can't seem to get the weather stuff I used to have, oil and stock prices, Maukie the Cat and the other stuff I used to have.

And if Blogger deletes your blog, some of it is still out there but without all the pictures I used to post. I had about 1000 posts on the old blog and got really discouraged that some jerk was able to hack my stuff and kill it off just because he disagrees with my political philosophy.

I would never do that to any liberal as an example. It would never occur to me to try to suppress free speech even though I might disagree with the philosophy of the blogger.

Anywho, just google Falkie2008 and look for it.

Since Art's been back on I've been listening to Art, losing sleep and listening to Sinatra when he goes off.

Almost like when I would stay up all night in the old days.  And stay up all night on the weekends too.

:D

And I haven't even once taken a look at the C2C website since oh, 2 weeks or so.

I will have time to post on my blog this weekend so I will do so.

I will admit I have a tendency to be verbose.

So many things occur to me that I feel almost compelled to talk about them.

You should have seen the term papers I used to turn in. 100 pages with meticulous research, footnotes, graphs, photos. They consistently got me an A in each course, though my instructors dreaded seeing them, they enjoyed reading them.

At one time, I was a professionally paid writer and I might go back to that if I make enough money where I don't have to worry about bills and whether or not there's food in the larder. With the car payments and then car repair, its gonna be a tough time for about 8-10 months.

Once we pay off the car, I'll start posting You Tube videos and maybe even podcasts. I'll need a Blue Mic for that though.

I still wonder why every posting site has an idiotic spellchecker that can't recognize words created after 1900.

Puzzles the hell out of me.

???

Eventually Noory will be seen as a bad chapter in the history of broadcast radio and only he will think he was great.

The rest of the world will know how badly he sucked.

This sounds like a good idea for a paper*boy comic  ;D

Anyways, I turned my clock radio on last night to see what the difference between Art and C2C. It was like going from university back to kindergarten. Everything was so friendly, safe and slow. My cat jumped up and pushed the off button as she tried to get on my bed. I did not bother to turn it back on.

Insanity

Sense I'm artless tongith, I turned on coast while i'm working in my shop.

Tonights gem-
I'm paraphraseing a bit, my old 60's vintage transistor radio keeps fuzzing out.
" With a guest like you, I don't hardly have to say anything. I just turn you loose and you keep going on your own"

and atleast one caller mentioned arts new show, and asked norry how it was going and what he though of it.

Man, after 4 nights of Art, you can tell just how Dumb the callers to coast are. Most of them could hardly form a coherant sentance.

Morgus

Haha, a female caller during the open lines in the last couple hours tonight asked Noory how is Art doing on his new show?
Noory said he hasn't talked to Art but did get feedback from Hoagland last night when they were texting during the show...

popple

Dave is going to act like he hasn't listened? He probably even listens during c2c.

"Tommy can we push c2c back to 11 so I can hear the last hour of Dark Matter uninterrupted?"

sleeplessinca

Thanks for posting about the caller, Morgus.  Good on them letting the call through.  Bad on GN not saying how they ripped him as a result of the texting.  We all know he was listening.

Look at you all being mean to George Noory again. Now, you just go over and watch his interview on The View. He wasn't the worst interviewer there! Now Whoopi, there's someone out of her element. There wasn't even softball questions, just somebody that hadn't a clue as to what the hell she was doing.

I'm kidding of course. George pretty much has a choice, either make the show his own, or make it Art Bell's. He either needs to keep listening to Dark Matter and improve in that direction by a factor of ten or just go full out Hollywood and start interviewing Madonna about her Kabala beliefs. He can't have it both ways with Art around doing a show that's the *true* C2C as it was conceived.

So, time to pick, George. Hollywood bullshit or underground weirdness. Your call, but if you pick Hollywood bullshit, abandon The Chase and give that to Art and pick your own, personalized opening bumper. Something contemporary and hip that fits that audience.

No wonder GN is so distracted during his shows--he's pampering his other social media stuf while doing c2c.

I see how GN creates stuff in his brain--he's a little name dropper.  Thursday GN said he met Jenny Mccarthy in the elevator and how nice she was.  Does it really count as a meeting when you are stuck in the elevator w/someone?  Friday night he mentioned again that he met her but left out the elevator part.  By next week he will say he met Jenny and they talked numbers and that he will have to ask the numbers lady what it meant.  He will leave out that Jenny asked him what floor he wanted on the elevator and he said 4...    :P

It depends.  George hid behind the ficus for 25 minutes waiting for her to get there.  'How arre yew?' he whispered, as he followed her in and the doors closed..

Thanks for the Jenny story, Earth Pod.  He is so starstruck it's sad.  Sure she's hot and all but grandpa ought to chill.  He's old for me! I'm one of the moms around here. Pathetic.  Celebrity sightings are common in LA, major industry being entertainment.  Sheesh.

ewwwww not the ficus wait...   That's even creepier.  No wonders she might have asked him --what floor?--  GN gave her the creeps and she wanted him off the elevator NOW.  shiver....
