Yeah, I wasn't so jazzed about the first guest, but that was the guest, not Dave.  Basiago was definitely entertaining though.  Dave does seem to be more engaged.  And he has a cold to boot, so even with that and probably cold pills, gotta give him credit I think.

No problem, just wasn't sure what you meant.  Yeah, its definitely a repeat.  My local station cut in with "and now the best of C2C with George Noory" as we entered the last hour.  His voice is "normal" too, you can tell he has no cold like the first three hours.

George's roots/family are in the St. Louis area, but he loves the LA lifestyle and feeling he's more like a celebrity than a talk-show host.  He loves actors and musicians so in LA he can be closer to both.  So he gets to hob-nob in LA, but then goes back to be with his family every once in a while and during the holidays. 

As for the "cave", I guess he just thinks it sounds cool and mysterious.  He's probably a floor or two below street level, and just has the announcer say from deep below the earth....

I don't think he'd put this much effort to friend another 29 people on facebook. It's the law of diminishing returns for someone that has a 7 digit audience. I don't think it hurt the thread either, it looks active.

I think he's here for real-time feedback on the show from non-sycophants and to look at what people that have an unnatural hatred for him have to say and the lengths that they would go. That's a fascinating train wreck in itself to watch and wonder about.  If I were famous, I'd watch those people too--over people that blither only positive comments. Is that so hard to buy?

This is a thread on the internet. It does not have very many active participants. It does not affect ratings or money or advertisers. It is unimportant unto itself. Yet, it offers something uniquely valuable to a radio host: unbiased honest feedback. Snap the fuck out of it and see an opportunity to have two shows you can listen to instead of one and act like a human instead of a complainer that won't accept a solution. Don't act stupidly when you're presented with something that can only stay the same or offer a benefit.  What's the loss to you? The only loss you could have is if you're here just to have fun being a negative ass. Well, if that's the case, you're gonna hate Art Bell just as much as you hate Noory.

No one is changing their mind just because Gnoory made some posts and some shout outs.  Its interesting that he is posting here.  People find it entertaining and intriguing.  Some people still jump all over Dave, some people are star struck, and most are just using the opportunity to see what the man has to say.  He is being civil to us, and in the interest of playing fair, most are being civil to him.  Most people here do not hate Dave Noorie.  We wanted his show to get better, which is a moot point in many ways now that Art is returning to radio.  It is a study in human nature.  Dave makes seven figures.  According to him, ratings have never been better.  So why is he here?  Its made for some interesting posts, and he is even answering some questions posed to him.  We know there is some hatred for Dave, but it seems the majority of posters are finding it at least interesting enough to be civil to to him while he is posting here.  Maybe one day soon we will even find out what the real reason is for his posting.

Some are where he actually has shown some humility and even talked about his speech impediment.  One I liked though was I asked him about his guns since he talks about guns often, and he listed the guns he owns.  To me, that was interesting as its something I'm interested in and it told me something about him.

Well, let's say it's hundreds of thousands. That's still not much for an audience of multiple millions. Remove the global site numbers down to this thread, and it's probably pretty small compared to his overall audience. Count the contributors to the thread, which isn't my number but it meshes with how many people post which is what, 29? Hell, say it's 500, which it isn't, it's still not going to matter. If people felt you were relevant in your views, which are now seemingly a minority, they would sign up and post in support of your viewpoint in flocks. Well, where are they?

And the reason for that is because normal people will give someone a chance and see if there is an improvement. You aren't allowing for that. That type of thinking is how you guarantee that you never get what you want in life. That kind of closed-mindedness is also how you guarantee that you will miss all opportunity in life. That's the kind of thinking is what relegates people to work at Wal-Mart for 40 years, never make more than 15 bucks an hour. It's a fundamentally flawed reasoning.

See opportunity as it is in the professional smart world and give the guy a chance. It seems to be working. Doesn't it? Well, why not try to have a positive effect? Tell him what you think is wrong. Why not? Why default to the negative? What's the worst thing that can happen?

Long time posters have been saying for years that this forum provides George and the show invaluable information, if only they would read and apply it.  They could not get better feedback on what to improve for any amount of money, and it's all free.  But George enjoyed sucking, didn't care, didn't want to hear it, and certainly wasn't going to do anything that included effort.  So we continued on our way.

10 years in and George Noory finally comes here to find out how to do better?  Within hours of Art Bells announcement of a return to radio?  And others flock here and begin interacting with George? 

To me it's been pretty interesting.  Here, after Art's announcement was confirmed, I thought the thread would soon shrivel when most people migrated over to Arts show and the last of the people here still listening to C2C finally quit listening to that dreck and no longer posted updates for the rest of us to comment on. 

And Lo - the man himself appears.  Apparently fighting for his job, wanting to improve, trying to get his groove back.  Or maybe trying to finally get a groove. 

That some are star struck, others suck up, others are PremRat trolls, others are civil and engage him, others tell him he sucks, and yet others chide the rest of us. 

Oh man, what great theatre.  From a thread that had sadly seemingly lost it's reason to be. 


George is admitting in public he 'drifts', had 'lost something' (but now has it back), has other flaws, on an on.  He wants us to listen to Art's show, then his - 7 hours of great radio is what he's trying to sell.  I feel like a spider on a web watching him struggle while this plays out.

I understand what you're saying.  And I think we would agree more than disagree - at the end of the day, I don't think any of us really think the guy is going to change.  We all still think George is incapable of doing his job well, and cannot understand how he keeps it.

We all know Art will be back in less than a month now.  I think more than anything, people are just bored and killing time waiting for the sixteenth.  Most have posed the main ten or so basic questions about George's job performance, and for the most part he has not answered them.  So in the meantime, people are testing the waters, throwing out serious and not so serious questions, seeing if George will answer.  Like Scifi said, if the guy changes his show for the better, that would be a good thing.  If not, nothing lost.

The truth is that time is money, and if you made more than me, you wouldn't have time to be here to frivolously slag on George Noory and you'd most likely never made it to money with the philosophy that you're wearing on your sleeve. I'm here because I saw the blatantly clear opportunity to improve the show I've listened to for nearly 20 years. You are making it clear that you do not care about improvement. You're hammering that home as hard as you can. Well, if you've got that kind of leeway then you're either a trust funder or an angry-at-the-world Wal-Mart employee. Either way, don't wear your psychology on your sleeve on the internet. Don't advertise it, it's dumb. There are people out there that are smart enough to see through it and call you on it.
